so today we're going to take a look at a sheath it's a sheath made by yellow hawk customs Doug calls it the cr2 leather elite and of course it has more options but we'll take a look at what you made me okay so here you have it folks a pretty unique sheath if I say so myself this is actually believe it or not leather / kydex I mean it's just simply a beautiful sheath it's a full grain alligator leather on the top you can see design it's oiled and waxed with buying and this is over a fully functioning point Oh 96 thickness military-grade kydex sheath the regular is point 09 3 so something very very solid as you can see it comes what they call I think the sure up plate I mean look at this thing you got like almost double triple layer they're very strong black coated d-ring beautiful dangler they called the tabby dangler just give you a little closer closer view of everything here I asked Doug to put me a now I just threw this in because that's all they had for now as a fair rod but I wanted the carbon fiber holster for the Pharisee rod and he'd done a great job I wanted slanted and it fits a 38 in diameter like you're a Swedish firesteel the fit and finish on this is just absolutely perfect it's strong it's reliable and very functional and in the back here you put something else just take it out for you it's what they call a live fire if you don't know anything about the live-fire well simply something that's easy to spark up it lights up you just put it under your your twigs or your fire until it starts and closer back up you know just like a like they used to use a candle back in the day or you can take a little bit out and put under the fire whichever your desire it's like a glove this is not coming off of their trust me look at that wow nice tooling on the leather put my initials logo yellow Hawk logo right there

logo initials and some more tooling I mean just a wonderful beautiful looking sheath now the knife that's in it of course let you know there's absolutely no loose rattle or anything like that it's really a tight fit the knife that's in it is a bhk Highlander the all in black version micarta scales anyway this is not about the knife but let's hear that that's not going out of there any time soon what can I say about this sheath I mean it's just well made with top quality products and of course Doug knows what he's doing and even you know if people are a little bit afraid of that leather he made a test I remember him saying not with this sheath but a similar sheet and he put the whole thing in water all night long just to see how good this thing is sticking on the Kydex and it never unglued or anything like that of course has swelled up which letter will do but I mean this is high quality product folks that's all I have to say all right so look what it looks like when you're carrying it now this is a dangler system obviously there's all kinds of other options and systems that dog makes you can have it from you know your normal vertical horizontal Scout carry diagonal you know 45 degree all kinds of ways and I know they're easier deployment and all that but today we're talking about it the dangler system just show you okay so now I'm going to be honest with you as I always try and be I was a little worried about the dangler now this dangler is much longer than I'm used to okay much longer usually it will come a little higher than that but after putting it on I understand Doug's idea and it's a great idea now if you have a your typical belt leather sheath there's no problems of deployment you know I'll have some type of retention but you just take it out put it back in no problems there but when it comes to kydex sheath you know that it's in tight write it click Sid and it doesn't come out so I can't just pull on this I could I can't just pull on this for fast deployment this is a dangler okay it's a different system than others that's why it has a thumb rest here so I can use my thumb to just push it out okay so let's come back to this dangler now why I know it's a great idea to have it this low usually a little higher my arm would always be more twisted and my thumb also be more twisted be awkward pushing it out and then having to turn around let me back up a bit here okay then having to turn around when I want to put it back in to figure out where my sheath is it's a little bit awkward in the pain but being that it's this slow it's very comfortable you see just a little twist and it's out and i don't have to try and turn around and see where my i'm still straight i know where it is alright so here is another reason why I think this longer dangler is a good idea now in colder months we wear jackets right and right now I have a perfect example because this is a pretty long jacket okay now the reason is I can deploy my knife easily even when I have this jacket on because my knife is lower instead of always having to you know I'm trying then trying to find the thing again it's right on love it now I know a dangler system is not for everybody the main thing that people don't like danglers it's because it dangles when you walk okay so that's all different opinions and different tastes but it's a good thing when you sit down it just gets out of the way easily you know whichever way you want and if it you know after you're done at Camp your work and your traveling well you can always tie her up there's a nice hole here at the top right the bottom I mean or you can tie it on your leg but it's always ready in there even though you have a jacket so a novel another double thumbs up for that alright so let's take a minute and talk about kydex a little bit now a lot of people you know you know me I'm a leather guy okay I'm a leather guy I love the feel of leather and I love the looks of leather as you could see I mean beautiful but that being said we cannot put kydex aside it has its place in the knife world believe me I know a lot of you know that if you think about kydex especially something this quality where you have double layer triple layered and it's military grade it's practically indestructible or indestructible whichever you want to and it will last more than the lifetime compared to leather kydex you don't need to care for it you leave it like it is leather you have to oil it once in a while reshape it all that good stuff also kydex when weather does come in it'll come out of the sheath much faster than your typical leather because you know leather will absorb and keep moisture inside and if you don't take care of it well your blade will rust if you have high carbon steel also it's safe kydex is very safe now every time I take this out and put it back in I have no worries now i'm sure it's happened to you it's happened to me at least twice with the sheath I wasn't looking right or so didn't happen and the pointer knife came right out of the sheath very dangerous you can really hurt yourself so no even though I'm a leather guy kydex is I think superior but on this sheath right now for me I have the best of both worlds so that's why I think it's a super great idea and well made so well done sir now mr. Doug Wilson is the owner of yellow Hawk customs he's also a veteran US Army Special Forces soldier he's been doing these kydex sheath and systems for over 20 years and being that he's been a soldier and that he's outdoorsman and all that good stuff he's got a good idea of what it takes to make this so it's durable functional reliable and high quality so what I'm going to do I'm going to add pictures to this video of other stuff of his work as he does I mean all kinds of stuff all kinds of colors option systems so you take a look at those pictures I'm not going to put them all just a few i'm also going to put in the description of this video the link to his website Facebook page and he also has a youtube channel so please check them out thanks again for watching this is my Chromebook wrap buttons bye you
