in this video that you're about to watch you're going to see me show you how to make the elevated spring snare now this snare was originally you know created intended to catch Bobcats lynxes so that's why you're going to see in this video that my snare or my spring sorry is a very strong one and at the same time it's a little harder to untrue but when it comes to rabbits all you need to do guys is you know keep your spring not as strong and is going to untry go a lot easier another thing I want you guys to realize why do we use spring snares well when you're in the bush and all you got is rope-like paracord or natural quarters whatever you got you don't have anything you know wires well you know the natural springs that we do with wire and such what you want to do with the spring snare is keep the rabbit off its feet you know so you can die quickly and not be able you know to chew the paracord and leave on you because you're going to lose your dinner so one of the main reasons is to spring him up so he doesn't touch the ground because you know sometimes that doesn't always work like we want the snare won't always catch just his neck and might catch his arm and a snake at the same time and if your snare your spring is not strong enough to keep them off the ground you're going to be able to just chew the paracord off and just leave so that's another thing guys you're going to keep in mind is when you do build a spring snare any spring snare whatever you're wanting to catch make sure you test your snare first with a piece of wood which would be about the same weight as a rabbit to see if it's going to keep them off the ground right just a little tip because a lot of people don't think consider that but it's very important so again I hope you enjoy this video is near now I know he don't see well from there but i'll show you everything closer okay very soon the elevated snare was first design it's not my invention was first designed to snare bobcats and are the links okay and as I've said before in my previous videos I mean you can't reinvent the wheel but you can you know add stuff or takes them off ideas off you know to make your own now why I think this elevated snare would be good for rabbits is this usually in the summer you will find the rabbits hiding in high grass that's why that's where they liked that's where their trail is usually and you know it's pretty obvious you'll see their trail it's about the size of their body may be a little bit wider and I think this trap would be awesome for that specific time of the year if you happen to pass where there's you know high grass and suspect that there's a rabbit trail why well if you put a normal snare you know at normal height I mean I'm not saying you won't catch any but the rabbits going to notice these steaks I know you you can camouflage that I understand it but the RAB is going to notice the steaks I mean a rabbit is not clever but he's not stupid and you know he might pass right beside your trap this way he'll never see it all right now imagine let's imagine this is full grass about this high and the trail is right here between the two sticks now these sticks here are hiding in the grass he doesn't see it nothing to camouflage their and my snares right in the middle of course I didn't take time to put the little twigs and everything but you understand what i mean is in the middle where he's going to pass now i have a lot more chances this way and plus being elevated gives me a longer string here at the news so when he does come he's going to have you no longer how could i say it longer whipped you know undo my my trigger let me explain to you a little bit why rabbit when the rabbit gets caught by the neck or feel something around its neck why did why is it's instinct is to run well first of all they think that it's a fox or maybe a bobcat that's trying to get them that's because that's how they get them from the neck so what the rabbit will do is just run as fast as you can to get rid of the predator so with this type of snare everything's hiding you can't see anything and as soon as he feels this around his neck he's going to run real fast poop and get caught so let me get you just give you a real close up here now first of all got the spring the spring can be on the side can be anywhere this one was there just for now just for the demonstration all right I've got two steaks pieces of stick about a foot and a half in between all right there about they're sticking out about two feet from the ground there's about a foot in the ground so you need about three feet in both sides obviously with you know branches that you cut off you keep at both ends like that find yourself a good middle stick strong one and tie both ends that one and that one right now the spring now you won't see right away this trap is going to seem very complicated but it's not I've got two strings I've got this one here right let me back up a bit this one here that is my trigger system and this one here goes down to the news so I'll give you an example and then I'll show you exactly how to do it all right yeah i know i'm far away again i'm sorry about that guys but i want want you to see how this thing will work so whichever way he passes this thing is going to come off I'm going to stay on this side obviously so just go slowly right the rabbit passes through the snare here whether it will do as soon as he feels it around his neck he's going to go at it and your rabbit is caught right this time I I made a pretty real spring this time because i wanted to show the real effect of what damage it could do alright so let me put this down and i'll show you exactly how this were right this is going to be difficult to show on camera when i do the best they can to show you how this works it's going to look complicated guys but actually it's not right so I'm going to bring down my snare are my spring I mean right now I'm holding my spring with one hand and I can set the trap with the other one now on this side here right this is my new sets tied to the tree up here right you want to keep it on the outside just tie it there ok that's the noose and you want to tie another string all right it will come straight down the stick here vertically as much as you can and you're going to make a little knot at the end like this right now you want to hold it there now when you bring this piece here know if you're going to see this but you want to overlap the not you'll do it the other way ok you take the the first piece here we want to overlap the knot you can do this with one hand it's overlapping the not if you can see this I don't know I can't see in the camera I hope so then you bring the same piece and form it as a loop as such and you let go of the spring a little bit slowly you make sure this loop here under can't see it but you make sure it doesn't go on the branch it's got to be loose and you let go the spring very slowly make sure because it's only or not that's that's holding this so I'm letting it go slowly so it tightens up a bit and now it's tight right and your loop here is loose for the snare okay so difficult when someone can't him for it just give me a minute so I brought this down all right I got one side that's tied here once I tied here that's going to be my noose or my snare going to the bottom here right sorry for the green paracord again and I got another little piece that's tied there that I did not to then I took this piece here I went around the knot and they came back through to form this loop this is what it looks like from the other side see it and it's ready now I know it looks complicated guys but really it's not just take your time rewatch again the video if you like because this is really fun to do and it's really effective alright so now we're going to catch ourselves a rabbit again I'm going to try and show it from a different angle try this angle see if you can understand a little bit better ok this is the rabbit guys hope I catch you pretend it's going this way it does what will happen very effective if you get into that there's no way in the world you're gonna have yourself a meal guys all right if you don't know or have any questions about certain things no best I'll just take some pictures and show you all right I'll just reset it up and show you so you can you know sometimes pictures give you a better idea of how to set it up thanks for watching guys appreciate you bye you
