Hello my name is Lilly and I am making videos about primitive living skills, survival, bushcraft, camping gear and prepping. I consider myself being a modern hunter-gatherer who wants to live as close as possible with mother nature and right now I am in the process of learning how to live off the land and thrive in the wilderness. Thanks for watching ~ Survival Lilly

hi guys I'm Lily and as you all know I'm a fan of the bow drill but there are other friction fire methods that works as well mostly they require a lot of strength and I as a woman don't have a lot of physical strength so today Stefan my friend from how to survive is going to present how to use the fire plough stay tuned the today's video topic is fire plowing you may have seen quite a lot of those tutorials already and you still have a little struggle with it well then you really should watch this video here because I will have some information for you that may will help you to your success and the truth is set this method is really not so easy especially because the most of us so I assume if not in a desert area or something like this where this method is actually coming from so we have the problem then we have to be more flexible in the type of wood we are using I don't know how it is in your area but here in the middle centre of Europe it is the vegetation not really meant to be a friction fire mecca but also the truth is then friction fires actually do follow a simple rule it sounds very simple and we all know it's not but friction creates heat heat creates ember and umber creates fire period indeed it is very easy set but we all know it's kind of hard but it does have a really important information actually for us because that means you can basically use every single piece of boot you can find yes it's kind a little bit hard to do it with the wood where is a lot of rosin in it but other than that you can use everything you find because friction creates heat so simple and the heat does not ask or it does not make a difference between the wood and it's very important to actually train oil friction fire methods with all kind of wood you can find because in a real survival situation

you never know where this is gonna happen and under what weather conditions you will be and then you still have to be able to do fire if you have to stigma in your brain I only can use this or that then you actually will have a real problem so what you need is kind of a would you split it in half and make it nice even and flat this is going to be our board so then you need a little stick and as you see I I sent it a little bit out so I actually can slide them on my board like this I use a little curved one here because it's gonna help me to get or to hold the angle a little bit easier as next I cut myself a little guiding line into my board so I can pull my stick into this be careful by putting the knife into your direction I have my pocket knife just hold here on a little edge so I'm quite safe with this if you're a total beginner and you try this really the very first time it really helps if you use the most softest would you possibly can find in your area as I said before don't be too stigma with this but it really helps that softer the wood is and of course that Trier it is so this is actually quite long enough it's a bit more than my finger and I have fun all for myself if I do at the end of my flow guiding line I make a hole just like you would do when you do a bow drill or hand drill because here I want to try to push all my powder in so I have it more local and center of the heat you see just like so my ground here is still kind of moister we had a lot of rained a few last days and now it's very simple for me to actually just put the board here on the ground and press it a little bit like this into it and then you see already the board is going nowhere if you don't have this option what you can do is you just dig a little hole the size of the board and place it into it so the dirt will actually hold the board for you on place or would you also can do is you take sticks like so and place them like an anchor in front and in the back so the board is with so the board will hold it on place as well since I don't need this I keep it as it is just like so and now I'm just need to yeah get some muscle power working here and now I really have a very important information for you and I really wish someone had that for me when I was starting to do friction fires in general if it does not smoke latest after 20 seconds then something is not right so save your energy stop and overthink what you're doing and check if you can optimize something really save your energy it does not make sense to put all your energy into the first attempt and get with this crazy mind in your brain it must work now don't do it be relaxed if it doesn't smoke after tweakin 20 seconds double-check so let's try this there comes the first smoke perfect stop here to show you you see the dust is going into my little hole perfect see get it all centered there you take your tinder bundle here we go I hope I could be useful for one or another for this method if you have any questions don't be shy to use the comment sections and never forget do not surrender there is always a solution yeah Thank You Stefan for showing us how the fire plow works it's a lot of work and yeah I'm still too weak for it I have to do a lot of training to get this done

but I'm sure that I will in future and please make sure that you check out Stefan's channel how to survive you can click on the videos here at the sides or in the description of this video and find his channel he has some cool stuff on his channel thanks for watching and stay tuned till next time bye you
