hi there guys I did a video a short while ago in this exact spot actually about a couple of the knives that I carry and some changes that I'd made to them but I got asked some questions in particular about the SE ela 2 and a fire steel attachment to the sheath so I thought I'd explain it with a quick video the design is very simple and the nice thing about it is you can take your knife put your thumb just here and use the fire steel straight off the sheath so it means you're not going to misplace it take it off and lose it it is quite a small fire steel purposely because it fits a little bit better on the sheath that way if it's too big this cord doesn't grip too well because its overhanging too much around the edge and it can wobble either side I have tried it the way around that is you can sort of file a groove underneath a larger fire steel so it slots on to the sheath a bit better and that way it doesn't move left and right if we do want a bigger steel but I'm quite happy with this one it's about three mil thick 3.5 ml thick roughly and it's a small little small fire steel that I got off eBay some time ago and I've been looking for a reason to use it and this seemed like a perfect way to to utilize it really but it's held on in a really simple way this is just paracord here as you can see and the power cord wraps around the fire steel and the way to sort of thread the paracord onto the sheath is obviously the sheaths got a hole in it and you can wrap the paracord round thread the paracord underneath itself so you pull the loop thread it back underneath itself pull it taut just heat it up and melt it and the same goes for the other side you can see it's in there really tightly there's no getting that I've worn it on here for months and months and it's never fallen out even one I've been pretty heavy-handed with it so I hope this video helps out with just how that fire steel is attached to the sheath that just with a bit of paracord very very simple mod obviously you know it's not one-way there so you're not making any permanent changes and just take it all off if you don't like it and you can replace the fire steel very easily I've always quite liked the use of using power cords in jobs like this win there are other ways of doing it you could use range of bands or any other sort fixings that attach that on there and any size firesteel as well to say if you file along the underside of the fire steel it clips in a lot better to the side of the sheath and you could use it a bigger fire steel and have that as your primary setup if you really wanted to but if you have any questions you know feel free to PM me or you know send me a message or comment and thanks again for watching and yeah really appreciate the support hope see you in the next vid
