it's a place we've been to before but not quite like this tonight I was going camping at Red Rock Canyon State Park in the middle of the Mojave Desert it looks like we pay here $25 about enclosed if it says no Kurt no foreign currency sorry Canadians have to leave you two Canucks up there I feel like that's it there goes $25 if you live in the LA area and you're looking for some safe car camping outside the mountains I can't recommend this plates enough in the wintertime

Ricardo campground is a great place for getaway cool on a clear night the sky will be adorned with stars as far as the eye could see tonight however we were in for a different rate a snow load but sometimes on rare occasions little snow in the higher regions of the Mojave the area was given a decent rainfall only hours before we arrived everything is so soft it is really soft I expected to feel like rocks but it's like honestly to fan oh really oh this is cuz it rained we definitely came on a weird day so usually put up tents and then build a fire but we can't see anything so we need to build a fire first the important thing about camping almost anywhere in the Mojave is that you're going to need to bring your own firewood there's definitely no fire would be picked up here how many tinder so enough to try and make some dinner oh yeah tinder downloaded do you think that would help [Music]

despite bringing our own firewood Mother Nature had other plans for us the wet humid air along with the heavy cold breeze left unfiltered by the barren landscape made it next to impossible for me to get the fire going well I've been at this for way too long and I think if Andrew were here he could figure it out but I'm not Andrew and I got a bunch of matches in there so if we're gonna go through punches even though we couldn't get the fire going we still enjoyed the unusually cloudy night

all right so last night we try to make a fire and in work so I got my shaving here I got my little sticks here slightly bigger sticks and then big sticks and then logs but let's try a second time on a morning like this I couldn't pass up cooking a traditional southwestern skillet breakfast seasoned beef i round steak bell pepper zucchini with a touch of corn and black bean salsa covered in shredded Colby jack cheese good morning mould oh my goodness I think it's time for a good camping breakfast so we got some seasoned steak peppers bell peppers we got zucchini we got salsa black bean and corn salsa and moon cheese it's pretty good Tom's I want to do something like that's out west Cheers q do you get lost Lee nope vicious leave it all I think you got two hours asleep

who tried making a fire last night do not go up friends we just gave up went to bed this morning I was trying to make the fire before you woke up and still the hardest fire of information is it windy windy is wet yet very humid Buddha thoughts of the desert with wet human this is my friend Dakota he's also my roommate hello part-time instagramers are diamonds confer and ler that my official business cars part-time institution now you've gone camping before right I have but have you ever camped in a desert no I'm definitely not a lot of deserts in Ohio that's true

they said he was that hungry there's going to be too much for you Karen all right how there's a distinct line oh yeah I see it as great as the park is not big enough to accommodate for backpacking so for us to hit a trail we'd have to drive out of the campground and a bit closer to some of the rock formations to the south specifically the Red Cliffs

now walking in the desert is I just get such mixed feelings about it sometimes today is like a perfect day to be in the desert I mean you got these great clouds so you have intermittent shade it's not hot it's about a about 65 degrees and just got terrific scenery now there are other times I've been to the desert I just I don't know maybe it's something with the light but I just feel sick afterwards and I just don't want to do it it's hot but not here it's so quiet - going

this is what we were looking at last night

Slenderman looking to trees yeah yeah terrifying in the dark they're not really even trees they're they're part of the yucca family they're just called Joshua trees but at night I mean they look so twisted and mangled and it almost looks like they're just people like reacting like it's frozen and got like Pompeii yeah I remember that were there just like frozen frozen where they were I mean look at that this is just like a whole a dance part when they got frozen then I mean it does look like a dance party okay just like at night and you only see the silhouettes then just imagine waking up and they've all moved [Music]

with trips like these sometimes it's just nice to get out of your comfort zone experience something new you don't always know what you'll find you don't know if it'll be spectacular ordinary something unexpected or predictable when you've got a good friend by your side a full belly and some serene skies you know we're already starting your morning off better than most and in the end with the limited time we have here on this rock maybe just maybe you should do our best to live it up [Music]
