how's it going guys Thomas here and I want to show you one of the new toys I just got this here is the military prismatic sighting compass and I was able to find this on Amazon for about nine bucks I'm telling you for the price it's one of the best things one of the best compasses I think you can get out there came in this nice water-resistant nylon pouch it's camel green and you can easily slide a belt loop through it as you see here or if you want to attach it to a backpack that's something you definitely can do overall the compass is pretty heavy it's roughly about six and a half ounces and that's because it's made out of metal this is definitely a durable instrument there are a few things I want to show you on top here the first is going to be this window here and the window lets you see the compass face so you can get a quick reading as to which way is the magnetic north you can look around and you can see that there are these bezel rings that lets you quickly turn it if you need to do that without opening it up or so right next to the bezel ring it's kind of cool you have these if you go this way you have inches on one side that goes up to two inches and then you have centimeters on this side now if you turn the compass over obviously you got this nice nice thumb thumb ring right here and that attaches to this bit of nylon string here but on the back there's a tripod mount tripod hold mount right there and you can actually put this into a tripod and get some real survey measurement now I'm not really into surveying and I think if you are into surveying you're probably going to get something better than a nine dollar or compass but you know for those immature surveyors out there that's something that you might want so I'm going to open this up now and one of the first things you obviously is the floating dial

that's obviously the main part of the compass there but you also have the swiveling bezel ring you know for your navigations the level in the corner to see if you're holding it flat or not you got your site navigation up here to identify landmarks in the distance so you can navigate to them and this compass has what it calls a prismatic sighting down here you can see that right there now a lot of people refer to this as an optical compass because of that and what it does is lets you see exactly what degree you're trying to reach now for me I can't imagine I'm going to be using this much it's a cool feature but it takes some practice to hold the compass flat and look through the hole now overall for the money this was a great Buy I'll include a link to this in the comments and I'm working on another video that shows you exactly how to use compass like this but in the meantime check out how the equipment is used out in the field by looking at some of our other videos and don't forget to subscribe and like us on Facebook thanks for watching and keep adventuring really nice night last night it's so nice to finally have like a warm night Greg was warm we slept outside and I got the genius idea to use my shoe as a pillow two hours before I woke had that hat suck I mean unit suck it'll works really really well the ground was a little bit cold but not for me we couldn't find a place with two trees to set the tarp up so we got this old Sycamore walking stick that Brian
