today I'm heading to the top mount Waterman of the Los Angeles National Forest here we'll check out a ski resort offseason and hiked the surrounding area it's always important though when you're hiking in new places to make sure you're not alone so I'm here with my good friend Mitch there's Mitch where where are we we are in the San Gabriel Mountains which mountain Waterman is there any water up here the mountain gets its name after three pioneers traverse this range Liz Waterman was one such pioneer and the first non Indian woman to hike through the mountains originally named mount lady Waterman it was unfortunate later deemed inappropriate to name it after her solely on account of her gender get over there we got clouds going up to the mountains which is something i always think it's cool and over there we got the Mojave Desert and then behind those mountains we got Los Angeles hiking in new places like these is always a blast especially when you have someone you can share with the scent of fresh pine after rainfall is definitely something you don't smell every day in LA the scenery was truly breathtaking as was the elevation we were about 8,000 feet and for sea level dweller such as us hiking proved to be a bit more difficult than we had thought but that didn't stop us after putting in weeks worth of work escaping into the mountains to stretch our legs for a few hours was well worth the trip

Alpine hiking was something more or less new to us and so he didn't really know what types of surprises we might come across on our day walk we didn't encounter any snakes or mountain lions his time but what really took us off guard or how the clouds rolled through the mountains like gravy flows through Turkey on a nice warm thanksgiving feast Mitch are you having fun yes I'm having a blast is a really unique hiking for me it's just kind of like small shallow wooded areas in Ohio but out here it's huge in the mountains it's cold wintery pretty cool day hikes like these are what I live for taking time out of your weekend to go explore puts you in a superior state of mind it helps you reflect on what you've done and where you want to go they're short but never underestimate what they can do for you because after all something out there is calling us and even though we may choose not to follow up most of the time it's the moments we spend with it that keeps us grounded all the time hey thanks for watching want to give a quick shout-out to the guy that did the music for this soundtrack a good friend of mine sotto voce you can find him on bandcamp here his facebook here and find his album which the songs that you heard are from here so very happy to have him help me out on this also I'm sure you're excited to see what the other guys have got going on in their new video that comes out on only a few days so stay tuned for that thanks for watching this and remember check out so vultures music is incredible now one really nice night last night so nice to finally have like a warm night grows warm we slept outside and I got the genius idea to use my shoe as a pillow two hours before I woke had that hat suck I mean us I it works really well you
