hello people and welcome to another video in this video I want to do a comparison to two Hennessy hammocks and you may remember that I had this hammock from Hennessy oh it's got to be over twelve months yeah easily I was twelve months ago now and I've been using it a fair amount and but when I made my review of this particular hammock and my other corporate people message me on my Facebook and page saying like this is an expensive hammock let me see well the top of the range ones from that particular company and what are your thoughts on the cheaper models you know they're they're kind of budget every day every man corner table and I thought well I don't actually know because I haven't used it before but I contact I've got back to Hennessey because I speak to the guy over there and quite regularly and I said how you feel about it sending me and one of your cheaper hammocks and I'll do a comparison and I'll be able to show people and the differences and how one could benefit you in different situations so they agreed and I know have the other Hallisey come up as well so today I'm just going to go through the differences and what I like about both and just see you particularly for the two people asked me and you can compare and see what you think so let's get ugly so this is my hammock and the one I've been using for quite a while now and I have been quite a few modifications to it just to make it a bit more personal and make it work a bit better for my own preferences and but this is the ultralight backpacker Asylum with zip and I wanted the backpacker model due to the fact that always planning what I was officially I was originally looking at user e and I wanted to go backpacking with it I wanted to do ultralight hikes but be able to hammock so weight was over very important so this is the model I was looking at and the hammock itself is is a single-layer hammock you can get hammock with a double layer with so you can put a mat in celebrates the single layer ridgeline hammock and with a zip it can take up to about 90 kilos in weight so I myself about 75 kilos one within that range the negatives of this would be if you're a heavier gentleman you're going to struggle with this one and both later I'll show you the one and that can take a much heavier weight the weight of the actual hammock ever caught remember the white with without the top and but with the top which I'll show you later on it comes just under a kilo so for a hammock and the top together and always really happy with that white actually especially with all the modifications as well and that's a perfect way for me you can probably get loads up and pull you're going to get much larger I don't think and what else is can you say about this hammock and it's obviously got the zip but it's only got a single zip some hammocks come with a double zip but the single zip is made to reduce white the modifications I've done to it I'll show you now and the modifications I made to this hammock are quite simple I replace the rope with the Whoopie sling just to make it easier to adjust it's also a less bulky material and lighter as well and then I replace the straps I made the straps longer and I added on one of these Dutch clips which just makes it easier to wrap the webbing around the tree and you can unclip it and move up and down with it happen to fuck around trying to move the webbing wall the hammock still attached it makes it a lot easier that good cables all of hennessey hammocks come us-funded they come with a webbing that you wrap around the tree and you can get different lengths depending on their this the width all day the girth of the trees in your area and they all come with this rope

and it's absolutely fine system it's a there's several different knots that you can do to attach the webbing so I won't go over those put them it's an absolutely perfect system it's actually quite a lot of weight itself it's not as bulky as the webbing you know like Dede come with webbing this isn't half that the bulk I'm so he's still a great system but I just a on modified mine slightly just to make it a little bit easier for myself okay so this is the expedition Asylum with the zip now it's a heavier weight hanger it's still a single layer hammock like mine but where mine is like a thin rip stop material you can see the light come through it this is a much thicker material it's not rip stock but it's you can tell it's a lot more durable by the actual material itself I'll see this as kind of more of like a woods a woodsy hammock something that you just come out for the weekend the chillin over an orbit is that kind of thing but it is a little bit heavier so it's not something I would choose to go backpacking in but at the same time it's not crazy heavy you'd still happily be able to get away with it to carry in a backpack it's not made yeah it does take more weight let me just double check and with the weight it takes I can't remember this one takes 113 kilos as mine takes 90 it says a hundred thirteen so if you are the bigger gentleman this is definitely getting a better for you and I think is all to do with the slightly thicker ridgeline and the materia itself just being stronger it's good it's not going to be as abrasive it's going to last a lot longer so I'll get this ere tarp out now now this is the 30 D rain fly which is again the smaller model and it's just like a square top but it's in the diamond configuration so we'll get it out now I'll show you but I've got it stored in the snakeskins now Hennessy as it comes the idea is that you store your hammock in the snake skis but I don't like that method or I'll show you a lot bit later on I like to be able to keep my hammer so I keep my top above my hammock and not having deployed if I don't need it then if the rain does start and quickly whip it out and just pull it down to pick it out put it on for me chitchat let's get this thing pegged out I've just got some cheap cheap pegs nothing too special

you'll notice the corners are off-center it is a square but it's not and squared off as that make sense this corner comes off slightly away from the center and this other one goes slight diagonal as well and there is a benefit to that which I will show you in a minute [Music]

so there you have the 30 D rainfly as you can see it only has two guideline type points which makes it very easy and very quick to set up now what I haven't tried yet is trying that top with my ultra hammock that'll make a very very lightweight setup however the downsides and the negatives of this hammock or the fact that it is very small you'll see that my product is set it up as best I can

if it was really raining so she had some diagonal Ryan coming in from this direction it may well hit the hammock a little bit but that's where you make the decision and look at the weather before you go out to work on the top you want to take out or if you live in a particularly rainy rainy environment you're going to want to go for the bigger top but in the summer now I have this top available to me in the summer when I know it's going to be good weather

I'm gonna take my ultralight hammock I'm a slightly smaller top it's going to be a really old rocks help okay so the reason that the top is off-center it doesn't go straight down the center it's because it's designed to incorporate with the hammer and the hammock have these the hammock has these two tie-up points one this side one the opposite side on the diagonal on the diagonal light and the way you do it either it comes elastic cord which I haven't got with me nail course you attach the clip on the elastic cords a bit there it also touches on to you the ending you talk which is obviously connected to the peg and that then pulls the hammock open when you're not it just makes it easier to lay your sleeping bag in there or makes easy for you to move around because it's properly pulled open instead if it all kind of gathering up around you so that's why the tarp is off-center it incorporates that okay so there you can see the 70d top in comparison with the 30-day trial or get out the way and you see the 70d has got two pivot points which makes the top a lot bit bigger so I do read lot seventy talks with it it's very lightweight to say it is bigger do you believe it's a thinner material in welker it's a rip stop in comparison to and thirty D which seems to be a bit a little bit thicker or looks a bit to me and so if you're in a wet a wetter weather climate I'd probably go for the slightly bigger table and a bit more of a fair with a camper and you only really grow it in the summer you'll be farms a 30 D top and it's going to save some some bulking you in your pack and but the nice thing is you can choose either over for the same price it's no charge if you want the bigger table which I think it's a nice thing to have to do as a company so the price difference on average the obviously depends where you buy it from but if you were to buy from Hennessy and directly the expedition model is going to put you back of home to $90 and the backpacking backpack is a solemn with a zip the both with zips remember and that's going to set you back home from $5,250 sorry and so there's there's a markup I'm not massive there's not a huge difference and it it just depends on if you want to say that white or not I think that's pretty much it and I hope for those of you who wanted the comparison this has helped you and it will help you decide and I'm a big fan of Harris's I think the producer some really good products so definitely check them out if you are looking for a em a hammock I think I'm gonna do another comparison and I want to compare them to gathered in hammocks because these are rigid on hammocks and if you want to know the difference I'll explain it in that video for a Ridgeline hammock is definitely way to go if you want to get the maximum amount of confidence out of your hammock and humming experience and all of hennessey hammocks or regional hammocks so you're going to be making the right choice basically so go and check them out and I hope this video has helped you any questions be sure to let me on the comments I'll try get back to you and until next time thanks for watching and I'll see you again very very soon [Music]
