hello people and welcome to another video so this video is going to be based on my post thoughts and feelings and coming back from the Hydrans wall hike and I'll completed yesterday no you will see the videos by now I'm sure if you haven't known each other now and I recorded every single day some days I record a lot some days I didn't record so much and but overall you will see that M the trip is full of highs and lows all the way along it's in it was very crazy trip and going through the trip I was making note two things that were work working well and things that were working so well so controlling them all in the mail and going forward future trips because i have made given myself the challenge and of that i want to know try and complete every single national trail in this country I think it'd be nice things about say you've done and clearly this was the first one we've done and I've done a lot of hiking in the past i'm giving wrong i went to know I last year and we did a week were the hiking but this was the first trip that I really wanted to hit some hard miles on and I've been basing a lot of Maui thought processes and kit on the through hikers in America I'm doing a lot of training as well in terms of fitness so I was going in hard on this trip and my god it was hard and so I've got a few key points I don't want to rumble on too much but I just want to kind of talk to you guys about my feelings coming back from the trip and you know maybe you guys can get something from it but for me it's going to be it's going to be a good memory log for me to walk back in a year to when I need this information again so we started the trip and we always start the trip with three of the guy so there were four of us in trouble and I finished it with one other guy and that guy wasn't even there the style it quickly became apparent and after star in the trip that and the fitness levels of the rest of the group Walter no well known as I not scratch but weren't up to the same level as me and I'm not trying to slide anyone here because I love everyone that came and what I did I didn't consider that in the planning that it was going to be such a difference and I didn't consider myself to really be any much fitter than anyone else and I don't think it was fit me see that to a degree there was a lot of a lot of them a lot of things that contributed to the reasons of walkable dropped oh so he's not just fitness so I apologize for that anyway it quickly become apparent that not everyone could keep up with the pace and not everybody could could adapt in the way that I think my mate I think I was in a better mental state in some funk and I wasn't more prepared maybe and so this quickly become apparent and people start to drop out em Peter dropped at first and this was due to and he's getting really bad blisters that wasn't something that any of us could have foreseen and what we tried our best or peer definite role it's best to destroy him sort of I oh but you just quickly with my partner it was it was going to be too bad and we weren't going to be able to get to the finish line for when we had to be the finish line I am so first day Peter dropped over and that was a massive shame and not took a hit on morale straight away then day to carry around and something happened that I have never experienced in all my life and it's definitely something I'm gonna take with me and definitely researching too because it's

it was scared and so they're going to too much detail I woke up in the middle of the night and Charlie blessing was just projectile vomiting everywhere I mean those artistic all of the council and we first of all we thought was the water because we'd filter some water and holly was the only one to drink that water because we got to get rid up to bear I come saw it and we all just shut up the tap water but break me down looking further into it we did everything that we physically had to do to make that water safe so I don't think it was the water we filtered it imma bald it we did everything we could have done and the stream from everyone my knowledge and experience the stream looked like it was a good stream you know to collect water from one another best show in the world boy with decent so I think we we never think that Charlie was ill due to exhaustion and exhaustion sickness on that second day he was really struggling and he was suffering in silence and I didn't note that at the time but it didn't look serious as what it apparently was so which left charlotte we didn't leave him we just you know we just we kept pace with Charlie and you just kept going he can go in and you really push himself in I think he was proud of himself for that and I was proud of him for that you know it's this trip we all pushed ourselves to absolute limits and but Charlie clearly pushed himself to a point where his body just said no I think which was very interesting and and he threw for hours I mean from two o'clock at night till eight o'clock in the morning the poor kid was just open throwing up and I feel really bad that wasn't there for him at the same time I was asleep I didn't know read no was going on and if I knew would have been there for but I think charlie didn't want to wake us up cuz I thinking he's in his head he knew that he wasn't gonna be able to carry on and he thought that he didn't want to wake us up because if we were awake and we were getting sleepy probably wouldn't be able to Clara neither so I think he in his own head he was going to taking one for the team which of course I appreciate so that was Charlie out again a massive blow and I'm there thinking like gold boy by doing here like I've arranged this trip but there's nobody can cope with it and I just felt I've shot really bad and you know everyone's booked on off work etc etc I just I think people to start the dropout floors eventually we arranged for Peter to pick him up blood blood blood so Charlie's now at the picture and then and we we start walking and this this caught me know and Jordan I'm Richard with me Richard joined the night before so he doing a little bit light and everybody else half an hour into the walk and Jordan decides it's too much and looking back there we now know he was added on to absorption sickness as well he had really bad stomach is feeling dizzy and he saying II knew in the back of his head that if he carried on he wasn't avail to make it and then he was gonna be stuck at a time period trials getting collected so he could be he had the availability today on forget picked up coming forward he warned about the aperture option and he thought that he would help me Richard back so he made that this isn't to drop him again my simple our morale I am at this point I'm thinking oh my god I've got four days left and I got won't go to do with what happens if I get yell or he gets it what we go do then mmm I should felt I felt really bad because I was feeling great I was feeling fine I didn't have a problem I didn't have any blisters I wasn't exhausted but everyone else was and I'm sure were confused and so that was it Jordan's oh so going forward point one is that clearly I am I arranged too many miles per day nightwalker cope with that I can only just about cope with that stay for a really low day and it was a good job that we met some of the guys in the trail that could help pull me through generally though I am very proud of myself and I am glad that I did it because I know know what my limits are and well I suppose not because I haven't reached that level of resources sickness yet but I know that I can I could do a lot more than I thought could so I am going to need it but the same time going forward and now I'm gonna have to arrange or scheduling just shorter days because they were very long days and it wasn't as enjoyable as it could have been and we need to be averaging 14 15 miles a day instead of the 8220 we're doing and thatís yeah sorry see ya I need to do short leash or some oils i do enjoy the long days but they need to be showing shorter and the next the next point is that we all learned a lot about our personal bodies and for a few years now we really paying attention to my body in these situations you know I never know when I need to eat I know how much water I need I I know my own body I know where my muscles are done I know when mentally I need a break and that's something that I don't think everyone in the group had because that's just the nature of what it is don't expect everyone to know that so it's definitely good for everyone to have you know they're startled in the bank is no I need something that I think this one is really important when you're in a warm this situation you know you need to know yourself very well and so I'm definitely although it was bad for everybody I also think is very good for everybody i would say last I was booked it it is good to know your own body and point three is that we originally planned to world camp and going from going throughout the trip and again it quickly became apparent that the miles were two more generally getting exhausted and by the time it was time to settle it was like eight o'clock at night and we had no time to be coming to find em world camping spots so the best thing to do was to go with the consoles and having come sizes a lot more convenient and just a simple and reality a fraternal tap just to get water when you've covering those kind of miles every day you need to do have to drink drink drink and if you've got to keep filter your water falls as always just take it every is just another thing you've got to worry about and so going forward if I'm going to try and cover that Connor miles come swords are definitely way forward it just makes it that a little bit easier that little bit more enjoyable it becomes more of a holiday than a mission and what he say that I really did enjoy the challenge I'm that confident that I I'm a lot fitter than I thought I was basically and mentally physically and just all around I don't think not so much I think it's just because everyone else is dropping out etc it's it's a good comparison to kind of where you are in terms of everything and all that are really interesting and i hope i really hope the rest of the guys got something from it because i do you feel bad about the ring not about the facts and the same time i mean i found it a very interesting learning curve I've got a lot from it and so yeah that was up and the last but not least and was the food if you watch my back pack a few video that I posted before the trip and you would have heard me say that I think I got it right I think I was getting closer to what I actually needed calorific Leroy's and went hiking and I'm happy to say I did and it all I'm carrying a lot of food single screen item nearly a hundred grams of food per day

and I ain't all of it and it was good about very good about and i ate all the food every day and it was the perfect amount you know really fell for and put it wasn't too much i wasn't carrying dead weight so i'm glad about that so no no again it's going back to knowing your own body i no know exactly him or don't need to eat and walk on foods work well for me yeah going forward for the for the future national trails i think i'm going to get it right a lot better a lot better now well the other thing was that the logistics of the trip i try to accommodate too many people and in terms of trying to get everyone there going forward I'm either gonna make it so that i can make sure everyone's there or if some people can't make it it's just gonna be a little bit tough look um I'm afraid because it just it makes everything so much hot when you've got a getting home for us was an absolutely just you or not it was made worse because they've almost have to go home I understand that but it was just a logistical nightmare trying to get back home because there were just cause all over the country and we're just want to collect them or they just made it so much harder if we could just go in one car go swimming to get to and get a bus back that's how it needs to be and said a worry of everything else but it was the first time we did it I like to consider myself a half-decent to this planning my life because I've done a lot of it but this was a different kettle of fish as it were and yeah I've learnt a lot from it and I hope that maybe you guys maybe learn a little bit from it I don't know and the ashes my thought process is coming back from that trip and it was at or form not a lot so yeah solid to my fellow brethren I'm sorry you could make it and it's not your fault it's my fault it's just one of those things that it won't happen again and I'll get used to it and buddy said it's it was a tough one to try a range so going forward and hopefully get it right

and until next time hope you enjoy the video thanks for watching and I'll see you again very very soon
