3400 WINDRIDER REVIEW | HYPERLITE MOUNTAIN GEAR

Description

Here is my review of the 3400 Windrider Pack, after a dubious start with this backpack I have to say after a week of carrying it all day every day Hyperlite Mountain Gear have honestly won me over! I cannot fault the design or the quality, I am now a huge HMG fan, so if you are looking to lighten your load seriously but do not want to reduce comfort, take my word HMG are the way to go!

Massive thank you to HMG for sending me this backpack, it really helped me to lighten my load and really get into the lightweight side of backpacking!

hello people and welcome to another video today we're going to be doing a full review of the wind rider 55 litre rucksack from club white melting it ok so here we are with the backpack the hope mental gear do a range of different sizes of this backpack and they also fit it to your torso size and always I think I was the mid range torso Souls him so starting off to be honest two different look suck I was a bit do you be sorry to start off with but after using it for a few days I am thoroughly sold on this product it's incredible and I'm gonna go over the features and then I'm going to talk about kind of how I used it and kind of what I liked about it so starting off is made of cuben fiber quite a thick rope us-cuba fiber I mean there's no way you're going to tear snag this material I'm putting a few colors I got the black one because I didn't wanna get dirty I mean I don't I don't treat my gear nicely I really put through some crap

and so I want it to be to be black so I'm going to flow enough the way better getting too dirty do the work version is white so I figured out end up making up three anyway I'm going over it the main feature of this pack is the mesh panels on the front they are incredible and they just make the whole usability of the pack and just fantastic I mean you can get a Nalgene bottle on the side with ease

I'll do this I love and use it for my tent pegs and one of comes lists and things like that and then the front section and kind of main reason is to kind of put a top in there say if it's been raining you can took it off in there to dry off as you're walking or you can keep your waterproof in there so you can get to it quickly if you put it on if it starts raining and during my Norway truth I put my Crocs in there because they're a bit bulky item and and they're a bit difficult to get in the packs I've put them in there and that works for you you've got an axe loop which are used for my walking pole thread out through the bottom and then you've got a buckle strap which comes right in front just a whole die in place and from moving or falling all over the places on the side you've got a couple of compression straps you've got one down here which you can use to tighten around the Nalgene bottle all the tent pegs and you've got another one slightly higher rope just to help pull the packing and to keep it close to your body moving up to the top this is a 55 liter pack the thing that I like particularly about this style of rucksack is it's kind of like a dry bag so actually even though these designs we've got a 55 litres if you have got battisti if you haven't got that much stuff you can really cinch it down to reduce the pack size compared to other websites where you need to fill them to make the pack roy correctly for this one you can kind of get it down to 90 50 litres or if you haven't fully packed maybe gets near onto 60 so you have got a little bit of adjustability there which i'm really particularly like in terms of the dry bag itself obviously this isn't a typical hook sack where you've got a lid and buckles to keep it down again I was a little bit dubious about this to begin with but after using it for the whole week during my Norway trip I can see the complete benefits of this look track and I don't understand what any of the rucksack has got this whole lid system because the quickness of just feel good well that Darren and clip it is so much quick out there I've been to two geeks all day and put your bottles adjust your buckles it's just really fast they've got a Velcro beat piece of the tops just to keep closed the inside here we'll take you inside in a second and to have a look inside just going to review that section there and but there is a section in the back to keep your hydration bladder so just looking inside the pack here as you can see there's this mesh panel here there's my hydration bladder there there are two aluminium I think about living in polls going through the go through the back section you can take those out if you want to you know reduce your weight further but logically I mean it's not really a massive deal I was added this little metal loop here so I can attach the hydration bladder easily and then the tube just goes through that soil panel where and you can see all these seams are welded so this pack is completely waterproof now this is something I particularly like about this brookside the hydration bladder comes out the side you've got a dark cloud section there and it hangs on the hydration shoe hangs on the side instead of coming down the strap of the rucksack like your typical pack water and I like that simply because it doesn't get in the white at all so I'm just going to hook it on now on my back just to show you what I mean as you can see normally the hydration to would come here and in kind of danville maybe get in the way a little bit but just being here it's out the way it's not going to kill you at all but when you do need it it's right there it's not exactly difficult forget to take it off please pack weighs in at 950 grams so if you look into law in your load look no further and my previous pack was quite up with one half kilos so straightaway I reduce my pack load by half kilo for Norway because it's a dry bag style rucksack there's no kind of mesh panels or any kind of pair for advocates to your back which I was kind of again a little bit GB so they bought my point metal gear pull through yet again you don't get sweaty the only sweaty part the back that gets sweaty is this panel here if well that's where you've got the most contact because up to the waist strap and that happened to there we were exactly what we're going to carry anyway in terms of comfort it's it's crazy I didn't think it'd be that comfortable because of how simple design is but throw the whole of Norway or I did not have sore shoulders I did not have sore hips just rode really well but story the trip is roughly about thirty kilos and ended the treatment roughly about 11 kilos and again like I said if the roids so comfortably and going to show you the way struck

so these two little air pockets here which don't look that big neighbor when they're filled oh they're really quite perfect to keeping you fond of your trowel mixing or whatever you want to carry up or poor camera in one of my trail mix in the other so you can nibble as you go they're just perfect for that and then you stir them struck which again you've got to remember these you choose this pack to fit your torso height so this is made perfectly to fit me and a whistle on the sternum strap which is have to put hair for a layered whistle I walk below that so I'll follow your ears okay and then you've got the elasticated section ear which culture when you breathe in through it walking which is port noise so the main feature about this pack that I really really enjoy is the fact that the whole pack itself is 100% waterproof the Kuban for about is all welded seams so you haven't got to worry about having a waterproof cover or anything obviously the dry bag system itself it means it's waterproof and then inside if you have dry bags or compression shacks that are made of waterproof material with everything inside you've got a 100% you know you can guarantee that your sleeping bag and your stuff into your clothes the pins are going to stay dry and that's what I like about it yeah I'm gonna worry about an extra external waterproof layer when it starts to rain so yeah let's just go over though with you in a review of it I am thoroughly thoroughly impressed of this pack I mean I'm going to use this pack through throughout as I carry a more trips name and I've got a lot of Holly contribs plan and I'm going to use this looks like I really am sold on it so yeah if you are interested go and look on their website and I've got several different sizes several different packs there's only four different excursion so yeah hope you enjoyed the video I hope it helped if you've got any questions please let me know I'll be more than happy to require and you know if you got any questions on the pack or have any external stuff that you want to ask me and that's it for this video so thanks for watching I'll see you again very very soon
