The Survival Russia Channel is about "The Reality Of Survival". I live on a Homestead in far away Russian wild nature and here are no room for "TV" Survival.

Only Reality counts here. Survival Russia promotes the philosophy of always carrying equipment and never to be parted from equipment which will affect chances of Survival.

So did the old timers and pioneers of both the East and the West.

a little bit chilly morning minus-35 huh whoa hello guys welcome to Sajha all today as you can see is a little bit the stupid fresh little bit brisk it's gonna be short video because camera doesn't like minus 35 degrees or the battery doesn't so we're gonna take a look at today directions from the Sun does it work i'm gonna use to mrs. we're gonna use the stick method first of all and we're gonna use the watch method if there's that described in all the survival manuals and all the survival bibles you put one meter stick in the ground you may Hugh mark the spot the end of the stick wait 15 minutes you mark the other spot and that will give you a east-west line and that should of course enable you to make a north-south line as well but the left of work is it accurate we have the Sun out there you have a stick here a pointed stick gonna head out there and put it in the ground because it's a little bit of a shadow in here not to all them we just put it here like this and we can see that the line is very very long it's about 67 meters long I think hopefully you can see it's call a path to here we have the shadow the end of the shadow was really difficult to see so here's the edge of the shadow I'm gonna mark it here so yeah we have to wait 15 minutes and see how is going but the meanwhile let's see with what method says do we call to talk today but let's see what they watch this where's north so watch me there was the watch me that goes like this point the hour hand at the Sun as a new dissect the angle between the hour hand and the 12 mark and that should give you the north-south line let's try it out so here we have a watch we take the hour hand my kid it'll be difficult to see so you're just gonna have to trust me on this one point the hour hand the Sun and that's the twelve o'clock mark here so I put the stick on the ground there the whole line yeah this will be our north-south line down here so I have my very reliable and well working suunto m34 compass here sorry that you've been able to see that that is not know south but that is no south and it's not very accurate to say the least I mean you can see here the red hand here because they're so whether watch wizards told us has no self it got 20 minutes so time to mark the the news yet oh and I had to surrender I put the flaps down on my ear stark took the furnace here we had our top mark so where is this is the tripod gonna remove that then we have the other line going up there I can see him a little bit off actually top is exiting over here there's a little mark over there so this line here should be east west I think we can already see that that doesn't really hold off at a 90-degree angle there should be north south let's try it out partly because damn it's cold we put our compass here 90 degree angle and again you can see that North is actually hop there which I of course no it's certainly not over there this is a 60-degree compass so we have C 0 degrees and 5 and 10 is 9 you have to time this up with six because it's a 60-degree compass doesn't matter 656 360 so well yeah it's a nine degrees that should be nine times six would be 54 for 54 degrees off we have conclusion is this method here at this time of year at this time of day 54 degrees off that's worse than getting lost actually okay guys I of course knew that this would happen because it has to do with the time of year and the time of day they say the shadow stick method is actually only sort of reliable at twelve o'clock at noon where the Sun is at its highest and then there's a little bit stupid because and if you know already what time it is that is twelve o'clock then you should also sit then then it would be much better just to say okay yeah the Sun is standing in South there at twelve o'clock North's must be over there and not over there and Northwest right so and the reason I want to show you guys this is because this is this these methods are described in all of the survival manuals i have read anyway and also the bible of of john lofty Wiseman's SAS survival manual holy bible and there are no explanations on how these methods can be unreliable and so on so it's a very bad thing so just to rely on these things because as you can see it's not reliable whatsoever so guys I hope you liked this short little video here subscribe subsea so perilous of like and check the links in the description and check my other videos if you like the content here and until next time get out and train and get it done and see you next time here in very cold winter time Russia thank you for time guys
