hello guys and welcome to survival Raja good to see you all again today we're gonna build a fish trap so what I want to do with this video is to show you how to make a fish trap without having any experience in making fish trap so in weaving branches and so on or basket making and all that stuff because I have no experience with it either they'll be useful if you ever run into a situation where you have to make a fish trap then I'll tell you here in this video how to do it when you don't know how to do but I'm sure that most of us are familiar with the survival manuals both civilian and military manuals with the nicely weaved fish strips and so on I'll say that you most likely have to be a very very skilled basket maker to reproduce any of these illustrations that I have seen anyway and I'm certainly not a skilled basket maker but I managed to get this far and there as I say I didn't plan to recall it so this is how we this is where we got to what I started with was of course to collect a hell of a lot of the willow this is willow Eva it's called in law Russian then I made a small ring as you can see here then i slided the thinner ends of the willow here branches through the ring and tied them together with some jute twine but it was really really really difficult to stabilize this construction I mean they were wobbling all around so then I had some problems with what I found out was it was a good idea to prefabricate some rings as you can see this favor for example it's not really difficult to make these rings I mean you just take some thinner ones they should not be too thick you can actually shape them a little bit we can make like a little blue ring like this and the fine ends here they are actually very strong so you can actually use them as a as its own cordage if you want to well then you can take another one and put in I've been working a lot with cables actually electrical cables and this is a little bit the same I found out I will not consider myself a basket maker by any state that's in check another

pop them through here then you end up with something like a ring so I slide to the first ring up here the second win of course down here and this third down here and if I'm successful in making this fish trap here we will have cost tested and put it up against another man-made fish trap so my plan is to weave in on the whole fish trap here small branches like this and thus making the fish unable to escape my contraption here so that's the progress so far as with most things outdoors you need patience so the fish trap is almost done we only need to make the funnel here and so on

as you can see most likely I have been using some strains of birch bark to try and finish this rim here off and so on Travis a little bit open up here but I think I have found a method to close it off really not good to start to weave in such a section here also what I found out making this is that if you make some mistakes here and there they will follow you all the way yeah I've actually ringed out some birch bark I normally don't do that but sometimes it's needed and I mean the natives are doing it so if the natives are doing it it cannot be bad can it likes it gonna be pretty interesting to see if this works because as I have no experience with this so I guess that we've all seen these funnels made of sticks that are pointing inwards into the basket and they should funnel the fish in there because there will be a little hole there right but I've gone for different solutions because I think it's too time-consuming and the blah blah blah so I'll take some birch bark basically what I'm trying to do is to make a big funnel make it fit into the trap and fit it to the to the HEA it should be much much faster we have this little tool and this we can drill holes in the birch bark otherwise it will just open up that much I do know I'm really fascinated with birch bark I think I'll start soon doing myself how to work with it because it's a really awesome material so the funnel is done let's get it into the fish trap and let's go fish trapping soon so why standing here working on this fish fish trap beer I'm of course occupied with my own thoughts as well and all of a sudden it dawned on me this would actually what most likely have been much easier to make entirely from birch bark and I'm sure that I would doubt that I would actually do that if I ever had to make a fish trap but that's how you learn yes I've calls it that we would test the different kinds of fish traps and the other kind of fish trap the man made so to speak will be bottles plastic bottles this is a 2 liter this is a via Foley done I think but not in the usual way you to see what we caught them and turn them around I simply just try and cut a small hole here in the side maybe make some holes in the bottle and bait it and put it in the small plant or in the pond way down there I fixed the funnel to one side here if you can say a side about a circle and down here as well is only fixed in two places well this is pretty well paid or simply just put through the funnel and that's it this all end I'll set it down there and I will endings up on this big tree line up there and that's where the big pond is here we are in the Holland cancer naysha territorial okay guys so we have fish traps one here and the two bottle traps you can see I stuffed the end of this one with grass put in a stick this way and they stick in that way to hold the grass in place here with the other fish strip how it solves it it works and it's definitely fast to make using these bottles I'll have to give a shout-out to my very very good friends Devon hello Devon he's German but he has an english-speaking channel cause poop out house is alive how to survive Devon is a really really good friend of mine and he learned me a lot about how to make videos Stefan is really good at making videos by the way he helped me in the direction to find my own way to make videos and I'm very very happy about that and I highly respect Stefan he's an awesome guy you're awesome guys Devon so go check out how to survive it would be a link up here also in the description we make very different contents devil is more about the faster hex and so on and check him out he's a good guy but in order to catch fish in a fish trap it's a very very good idea to bait the fish strip I have chosen some really really high-end advanced the bait because I really want to catch some fish so I bought buckwheat with me I actually boiled some buckwheat I have in this bag here and my have a sake doesn't look very tasty at the moment but it has a really good flavor so I would hope fish would like that but I also brought some gays you can call it what is it called elastic bandage ye less defend it's because I want to wrap this buck wade into this elastic band so if fish comes the first fish would simply not eat it all this is just my thinking I've not studied this as a fish traveling at all so I think that it would be a good idea just to have this I know how to fish by the way I'm Danish so one day this works buckwheat really has a strong smell a little pocket we'd paid here I'll just take that try and squeeze it through the funnel here they'll go sort of like works I'm gonna see we can head out there somewhere autumn feels like relatively solid no whoa getting deep fast maybe it will work in here I don't know but just found the way out there there surely fish out there I'll try and set the traps out there pretty bow

that's kind of the best I can do so the other two is sitting out there I don't know how it goes what we just have to check it in the morning those fish traps are set this home somebody's not gonna come on steal them from me it happened to another guy at another place but who knows so today is the moment of truth do we have any fish in the fish traps as we gotta find out now we have the pink troll with us today because she insisted on tackling along and see what's going on let's get in the fish traps to see how it goes actually fishing them there's also small fishing those are a little bit of fishing this one was difficult to see oh gosh yes the grechka well here's the book with grits Kazan Russia not too bad I'll be damned this I've never ever seen before there's a bacon in there also it's a bacon fish trap that is the best fish table you could ever possibly think about liking awesome actually some fish stock up in the grass here this is the fish because that one is the biggest that one is the smallest we have some more down here and they're gonna go to the dog all this is mushrooms my daughter wanted to feed to the fish so yeah I'll call this a hundred percent success these were not that big but there's like 50 of them the biggest one is this one here if I can make such a trip you can certainly also make such a trip for the fishes they'll go home to the dog he'll be very heavy again again I like with the chicken video so as I said for many years if I was in trouble I was starting hunt and gather for food while I still have food and as many of you know I put the food pouch on the top three of my items list the buckwheat here I could repaint the traps most likely and then I could even boil it again and eat it I will say the most likely gonna taste like bad leg or something but who cares even plastic bottles will catch you fish and they were able to get further out I'll soon we'll get one but I've gotten some bigger fish so we are guys thank you very much for your time thank you for your support if you are one of the guys who would like to help out on the survival Russia vehicle please check the links in the description let's check the links in description anyway also to Stefan's channel until next time get out and train and get it done and see you next time right here in Russia thank you guys
