yeah oh yeah kya what's up guys so we are out here on an overnight backpacking trip in the kiya Del Rio it might because uh we're still trying to figure that out I'm gonna say kya thanks to mr. Cass Gilbert over on bike packing.com also his his vlog while out riding casted this trip the beginning of the year and then downloaded a GPX file so I got the file on my Garmin and we're pretty much gonna follow Casas Casas trip on it overnight it's about sixty miles there's a couple of shortcuts so if we want to cut it short or take it or longer we can - I'm here with mr. taco and yeah we just got off it took the railrunner from Albuquerque up to 599 got off on the train and then just did some road riding hit the dirt see what we can get into well the hiker bike right off the bat not a hiker back thanks guess so because there's a lot of cattle farming out here a lot of these cattle gates cattle guards on the ground that we've rode over a few of then a lot of these cattle gates so you can definitely cross them as long as you please keep close please keep it closed make sure to him calves don't get out so just to fill all you viewers in taco the man that works at a bike shop forgot to put sealant in his tubes and you know you're not familiar with the Southwest we have these things called goat heads I'm pretty sure if I ground on my tire for a second I could probably find one hopefully not anyways it cause pretty easy flats so running sealant in your tube just kind of a must-have taco yeah taco just you know forgot so we're kind of playing the odds here and we may be fun correct it's a family show taco we might be fudged no I don't want it to tell what happened good all right well my hos to the bladder of my Camelback was locked check it out to unlock it when I put it back the hose came off thus leaving the water to go all over my back and a half so in other words we are at this what looks to be like a deserted cattle ranch and all the fences everywhere there was a sign back yonder and said uh 1400 foot well so we're trying to find some sort of water source here brought the filter with me so we can filter out some water we just have to find some sort of source there were cattle out here living so searching for but you know move something that aside and that's the fresh water gonna filter it out I drank nasty of crafting that on the 80 I want to get a stick let's see how deep it goes

this has got to be it I mean look at all these different all these different stocks I bet if that no sign probably still read that that it was water here plus again filter you're gonna be all right

well we're back on the water was delicious not even joking it was and to over in doses of agua and let's go

man they're moving I got had some long tails from them desert cows desert bovine

Oh a crazy hiker bike out here on kyuh kyuh

kaha Del Rio pretty hard to write up this stuff especially with a rigid friend relay with anybody out here though

long day of riding there towards am we got our asses handed to us very technical rough rough terrain rocks we have made camp for the night get a storm not too shabby down the distance is looks like Santa Fe will be headed in the morning pretty good day I'll know pretty sure I got pretty crazy burnt this uh Mexican fool didn't ya get some dinner get some sleep hit it again in the morning you

morning folks so last night at about 6:00 6:00 6:00 p.m. started sprinkling we got under our shelter and pretty much it rained all night which is pretty pretty weird for the desert at least as far as I know it's pretty weird for the desert but we got soaked last night even had like a little pool of water kind of formed one of the edges of the tent we're inside kind of had to make some dams build it up kind of worried about flash flooding but that never happened so yeah everything's pretty wet the ground is looking pretty soft so it ought to be a fun ride out of here in them this morning it kind of looks like it could rain again it's pretty pretty cloudy

but let's get into Santa Fe and dry out and get a beer check out this Canyon I'm assuming that's Diablo Canyon you know it says we're supposed to go down and up so yeah so first starting off this morning turnip hike a bike but uh at least it's pretty I believe that as Diablo Canyon you can see this stuff's pretty harsh to ride through especially for a rigid frame or even a front suspension but it's super pretty I think we're going down into that Canyon more and more and you know hopefully we can get some more riding opportunity but it's pretty gorgeous nonetheless

you know I hope you guys enjoy our my uh my videos cuz kind of beat the shit out of myself for you guys so no just darn that out there I'm not usually touch on that point but hopefully you enjoy the videos wow it's pretty I didn't know Santa face sit on a high canyon like there's a river down there see Rio Grande a lot of switchbacks it's like we're kind of we started up there we just been switched back and down this whole canyon guess we're gonna go down there next to the river and actually I think that we're gonna part of the the track looks like we're actually gonna ride next to the river so yeah hopefully hopefully it's not all soft and soggy and I'm painting the asteroid in my was just been mud and tired shoes clothes for down by the river so it's just all washed out so probably be why cast said in his report on bike Packer calm not to ride from mid-july to mid-september because the monsoon season but like everything else I never listen so paying for it the three inches are doing a little bit better but you can see they're still just gummed up to shit and then he's having a hell of a lot harder time fudge fudge because this is a family program fudged he's fudged up but we're pretty close to getting into Santa Fe we just have to get through more of this mud yes to the victor go the orange Gatorade you

all right so a little update we finally got to the end of Casas GPX track and how my GPS picked it up and if you could see it what you probably can't it wouldn't really dumped us out here in the middle of nowhere on cassis GPX file that says Arroyo writing potential but that's where the end point is last time when I did this trip I was by myself and I didn't do the full thing I did the shortcut to avoid Soda Springs so on that file if you if you see where it says shortcut to avoid Soda Springs that took me straight into Santa Fe the next day straight into the rail yard well I figured that this would just be the long route and it would eventually get his back in there but we were literally out in the middle of nowhere and miles and miles and miles and miles away from Santa Fe

closer to Aspen you all haven't anything about like right so they know we're near Santa Fe essentially so really lucky we're uh we're next to these pump houses next to the river here and there just happened to be a guy out here servicing the wells

so Rolando has offered to let us throw our bikes on the back of his truck his flatbed truck and he's essentially gonna take us to the road and guide us into Santa Fe into the rail yard so all was not lost we do have a way to get back in when I get back I'll recheck that GPX file and figure out what the hell went wrong and why we ended up here instead of going into Santa Fe or anywhere near it and I'll update that later on I guess but until now we're waiting for Orlando to come back from checking the well we're gonna get a hitch we're gonna get a ride into town so the trail provides even though

the New Mexican desert the trail provides

so we finally in the Santa Fe from our good friend Orlando gave us a ride all the way in here we are at the 2nd Street Brewery morning judge eating some good grub the alien burger eaten some Rachel some turkey Rachel having some brew yeah we're gonna wait on the train get back awesome trip gotta figure out that whole GPX file thing however cast messed that up I don't know yeah guys thanks for watching well I could dislike this video subscribe to my channel if you haven't already go over and follow me on Instagram to get a lot more pictures instead of these videos between videos and Cheers

you

At the end of 2014 my wife Snuggles & I decided to quit our jobs, sell 95% of the things we own, & leave our home town for good in search of adventure, culture, & the true meaning of happiness. We bought a van, traveled all over the country & hiked the entire Appalachian Trail (2189.2 miles). We are still seeking adventure in new places, meeting new people, trying new food & drink, & discovering all that we can.

This Channel has developed into a main hub for aspiring hikers & current hikers to gain info on a wide variety of Trail Topics. With a series of Trip Videos, Q&A, Tip Videos, & Gear Reviews, I aim to get you out on the trail and hiking more!
