just got to white pass here on the the road and then I got like a point six mile road walk down to the Cracker Barrel I don't know what it is General Store not like the restaurant it's a little place but got a resupply box here hopefully there's some food and maybe even a shower back on trail after some pizza resupply quick shower and meeting back up with us at White Pass we're not gonna go too much further today nice little camp spot supposed to be by a lake you know it's always amazing to go into a town because you get town food you get to resupply you get like a little break from the trail but it like wears you out because you kind of get out of that routine of hiking and then heat back on trail here just wore out especially when you got a for food every supply so fight the mosquitoes and black flies and afternoon heat we get to this camp spot

7:00 a.m.

I've been going since 5:00 and already at 5:00 I was pouring sweat definitely starting to get into the humid nasty sticky part of Washington Ryan to me a lot of the 80 Virginia and Steph versus humid all the time yesterday end up doing a 30 something mild day sitting around with a bunch of South bounders eight and just got some sleep

starting to get to that point of the hike where every day I kind of feel like a robot sleeping eating hiking eating hiking eating sleeping time for some watch it is really really hot I'm just soaking wet with sweat complete cookie and a green belly something I've really been into lately is during lunch last couple days after I get done eating lunch I have taken what is affectionately known as the coffee nap I make myself some coffee some of this Alpine start you can just kind of shake up my bottle make it cold just like I would in the morning and then as soon as I drink it I take about a 20 minute nap I usually put my feet up on a tree and when I wake up I feel pretty good pretty energetic currently caffeine coffee tea takes about 20 to 30 minutes for the caffeine to actually start working so the coffee naft is something I used to do a long time ago and it's working pretty good out here today ended up being another hard punishing hot sweaty day [Music]

[Music]

so Fez and I got down here into Snoqualmie past this morning picked up a resupply box from the Chevron station got some coffee I've got some awesome food at the RV park cat Bay's awesome barbecue sandwich and look who I found okay she got back on trail at the Canadian border and she is now going southbound good to see [Music]

pretty wet foggy day today and making my way down into Stevens Pass and you can either go to Skykomish or the Levin's Werth in Fez and I are gonna grab a hotel room and Elevens Werth and take an evening off we are now less than 200 miles away from Canada and last night was the first night that it has rained on me on the trail which is pretty crazy [Music]

today ended up being probably one of the best days I've had on trail in a while felt good had a good breakfast this morning it was super beautiful awesome campsite tonight next to this awesome beautiful pristine alpine lake and feeling pretty good [Music]

beautiful morning but it's super smoky we keep hiking closer and closer into the fire that's around Stehekin and all these valleys are kind of filled with smoke so even though it's super beautiful there's kind of a smoky haze in the air this morning it was a little worse than right now I think that since the winds picked up it's kind of blue some of it out this morning all we can smell is a fire and it's kind of hard to see off into the distance because of all the smoke but it's beautiful [Music]

[Music]

something insane steep climbing today [Music]

how come I can through a jungle a jungle on side of the steepest mountain indoors [Music]

today has been absolutely gorgeous Joyce your peak wilderness is just unreal I never would have expected today to look like it did furthermore I ended up doing well when I get done I'm almost a camp I get to camp I'll ended up doing 38 miles today just you know when you have those good days on trail or just inspired a beautiful scenery and you're just visually stimulated all day long and mentally stimulated let you put in big days [Music]

so as I mentioned a day ago we just hit the first fire closure so the closure 20 twenty-something miles so here it is and it is closed from here to stay he can so we're gonna be taking a detour down this trail which is the heart Lyman trail and then we got a jump on the company Creek Trail kind of sucks because it's an extra eight miles onto the hike

I get testy heekin but apparently on eleven miles we're going to be going through

Holden village and there supposed to be some food there a little restaurant or something so hopefully we can get a bite get some grub there and keep hiking or figure out another way to get to stay he can you know me I'm only about available miles so if I can find a way to get from there to stay he can without hiking eight extra miles of trail that is technically unnecessary then I'm definitely going to do that interesting turn of events today we ended up taking the rear out from the fire closure and total it's supposed to be 28 miles we knew that whenever we got to 11 miles that there was going to be a place called Holden and it was some sort of town or resort or something there were rumors that there was gonna be food here when we got here we found a little bit more had all-you-can-eat stir-fry for dinner met some really amazing people and we decided we're just gonna stay the night so we just got a shower and hearing a little bit we're gonna go hang out some folks and we're just kind of sitting around and enjoying this place in the morning we are actually going to take a shuttle and we're going to go down to the lake and actually take a ferry into Stehekin so instead of hiking that 17 miles of non trail we are actually going

to take a ferry in the stickin [Music]

[Music]

last night and today ended up being absolutely amazing we ended up staying in Holden last night we hung out with some really awesome people we ended up going to eat a bunch of ice cream and the dining hall and then we were invited over to a chalet by some older staff and we got treated to music acoustic music and whisky and wine and Fez and I pretty much stayed up all night and just talked and had really really good time with total strangers because it's such an amazing part of being out here on the trail off and rolling this morning we just hit Rainy Pass which is one of the last passes before the end just crossed highway 20 and we are officially out of the North Cascades National Park so back in the forest and cruising I think the plan is to try to get to Hart's pass today it'll be a big day but that'll set us up or it will only be 30 miles to the monument and then the next day I can hike 30 miles back out and backtrack those 30 miles back to Hart's past where snows is actually gonna pick me up really smokey this morning from the fire they just opened the old closure so I still kind of smokey from all of that but good and cool so far supposed to get pretty hot today it's not bad right now [Music]

well Fez Einstein and I ended up pushing 39 miles today and we did it by 6:00 p.m. we made it two hearts pass hearts pass is the last road that you can access the PCT until Canada so we are exactly 30 miles from the border from the terminus so pretty awesome that means tomorrow is our last day we should hit the monument sometime in the late afternoon and celebrate the end of the trail pretty surreal that we are finally here now what's even more surreal for me is because I can't enter Canada because I didn't get my permit taken care of or my passport taken care of I'm actually gonna have to hike back out 30 miles and I'll end up back here at hearts pass it was pretty well it only be 30 miles from the border 30 miles from the end of this trail it has been four months and five days today so that means I won't end up taking me four months and six days to hike 2652 miles feels pretty surreal I want to wish you well in these last few days of your journey I can only imagine that the body is so tired and fatigued very ready to be done with a repetitive lifting and pounding of the feet I can only imagine - that the mind is desiring to be at the trails and already on to what it wants to do in the next days weeks years yearning to be somewhere else with every step this is the time to stay vigilant rein in all those thoughts and sensations to be elsewhere physically and mentally give yourself the gift of lingering in the last moments at your height take them all

the painful ones the bored ones the full suck up at all the impatient ones the glorious moments the beautiful ones the exciting ones the enormity of it all in the minute-to-minute grind of it all the suchness and the muchness of it all it is big and you don't want to miss it breathe and remember you only get these last few days once [Music]

[Music]

[Music]

[Music]

2,650 two miles from Mexico to Canada feels pretty awesome [Music]

oh it's so bad [Music]

you

At the end of 2014 my wife Snuggles & I decided to quit our jobs, sell 95% of the things we own, & leave our home town for good in search of adventure, culture, & the true meaning of happiness. We bought a van, traveled all over the country & hiked the entire Appalachian Trail (2189.2 miles). We are still seeking adventure in new places, meeting new people, trying new food & drink, & discovering all that we can.

This Channel has developed into a main hub for aspiring hikers & current hikers to gain info on a wide variety of Trail Topics. With a series of Trip Videos, Q&A, Tip Videos, & Gear Reviews, I aim to get you out on the trail and hiking more!
