hi guys doing this we Myers hermanus outdoors / my 101 this is Bobby and she's itching the user new knife so what we figured we'd do was we would just make a simple frog gig spear with her knife teachers little techniques of splitting and little carving techniques so that's what we're going to do now so stay put all right so what she's going to do she's gonna start out about you know five or six inches down she's going to remove the Malta bark at that point and then she's going to bottle nose the tip like bullet nose i guess the tip not spear point but bullet nose takes a little bit of getting used to and you've been using a bob for a couple years yeah all right stop I would flip this and start removing some meat over here get that bullet nose yeah I know he had howler monkeys that's that's the asthma bird they say oh no Bobby's got a knife yeah room realize see something's running here yeah dance inside that bird just landed even though he had pterodactyls either what kind of forest is this man all right so she's got a pretty decent ball nose going there look at almost chisel point so I would come to the chisel points these two areas are here and you bring them in a little and then we might be lit yeah okay this is a beautiful knife yeah looks very well handles pretty comfortable I like it a lot very wonderful I didn't pay them to say that yes there's my new favorite knife it really is I'm really not been saying that oh yeah put my kids through college though she has nice things about to jest Nick all right I think we can make something service for out of that so now what you're going to do one thing is the reason why this is so tall is because you know this could be a number of things you know it could be a walking stick cetera et cetera you don't want this thing to be especially below eye level or anything like that because if you are walking around with this and you trip over a log or something like that you don't want to put your eye out stab it through your head you know those are all bad things so what we're going to do is she's gonna come in here and she's going to find the exact middle up here put her knife up here and split down the middle as carefully as you can and then once that split she's gonna come up do another split down this side as well hey Doug Judy yeah don't drive it in too far because if you actually split it's gonna hit you yeah so then just tap ok there you go that cap cap cap you you can get another stare you go and then yep maybe I heard it pop yep this is a good position yeah looks good perfect good driver on a little that's good getting deeper you're gonna split alright alright so now what we're going to do is we're gonna go find some small twigs two of them we're going to slide these in here legend man that's going to pull everything apart and then we're going to get in here and sharpen and we're going to have a finished product after we wrap it everything nice and tight one alright so now what we're going to do is we're going to stick these twigs in and then we're going to kind of get some leverage on them without splitting the whole thing out I think you're going to be okay though got one that's kind of on the danger zone but even if there's three it's better than one dance and Angie yeah that'd be good you know we don't want them this long but you know you could get a lot of pressure on it they are a little bit longer so you know we'll come in and we'll trim them down and then we'll get some rope around here tighten everything down and then get in here with your knife see now though they're separated you can come in here with that knife and you can get some nice sharp tines going you know if you want you can make barbs I find that it's a little harder to do I have done it before but with what you have now it's serviceable because all you need to do is just you know you fish or frog depending then stabbed it and pin it to the base of immediately to the bottom of the pond or whatever you're in and then reach down and grab it you don't need barbs on your comfortable position yeah wait I don't like point minds of people oh yeah oops a good good habit usually it's good huh yeah ready to good happens on who it is right it's getting there is sharpening signs up that's how I do you know times we've been out here alright so Bobby came in here and she got everything pretty nice and sharp definitely serviceable you know getting in these angles sometimes can be real bear but you know this is a good opportunity to teach a couple knots as well we're going to start out with a jam not Bobby if you kind of hold that for me all we're going to do is we're going to start out with just an overhand knot in the top just like that and then we're going to come around yeah I guess we'll do it this way so the camera can see we're going to come around and then we're just going to tie another overhand knot around the cordage that we're using just like that okay so now that overhand knot that we just did is going to jam up against the first knot and just gives us something that we can really get some torque on just let it up here we could really jam it down get nice and tight don't slip yeah yeah I let you push me back that I wouldn't I got the weapon yeah your stab me with it and just get some figure eights going around these tines

i won't slap you open the roof that was an accident mumbai you mm-hmm all right we're about down here just just enough to get everything nice and secure all right then we can finish it off with a good clove hitch Wow there we go turn that up not Bobby we're ready to go kill some frogs all right guys well that was just a really quick video of something you know she wanted to use her knife and get familiar with her knife yes first time and she's really actually used it so just build something really quick 10 minutes she had something service wool she's on the water's edge hutton protein thanks for watching be sure to LIKE share and subscribe and we'll see you on the next one so that's what we're gonna do now so stay put stay put stay don't go nowhere don't go anywhere let the ads run tell you how to live your life yeah
