Tampon to Start a Fire ??? / HD Bushcraft Survival Video

Description

I always wonder why people are using tampons as fire starter or tinder in their survival kits. So i went for a hike in the Swiss Mountains to test the tampon as a fire starter or tinder and compare it with my fire tablets which i carry in my survival kit. In this video i share the result and my opinion about this test.

There maybe some First Aid application but for that i carry my First Aid Kit separated.

Please notice that i'm talking about a Survival Kit and not a First Aid Kit. Some may use a Tampon for First Aid application and if you have nothing else to treat a injury it may be very helpful if we keep in mind that's not sterile! In my opinion its a must to carry a First Aid Kit for any outdoor activity.

And of course it's also depending on how you create your Survival Kit, is it a combination of both, First Aid and Survival or not. I prefer to have both separate.

hi they come to Tahoe movies if I had to improvise to start a fire a tampon might be a very good firestarter and tinder let's have a look about it in this video thanks for joining me at first people had to close to look at a temple the temple is quite press covered by a thin foil which protects the temple against any moister if you take the foil off and open the temple we have a huge amount on cotton ball destroy cotton wall should catch a spark easily and turns it into a flame as we have seen the good thing on the tampon is it's quite compact is protected by a thin foil against moister is catching a spark easily and turns it into a flame but we also recognized that tampon is burning down very very fast it talked about 40 seconds and it's also very sensitive against humidity or wetness because the parts which were touching the batboat here didn't burn at all

most people like the survival kits small and very compact and the items inside they should be also small but still they are useful a dish would work so the size of the tampon would actually fit nice into a survival kit but I prepare those burning types of burning templates and now I like to explain to you why the first of all two of them are even smaller than 1/10 on if I break those tablets I had about 4 pieces if you scratch a little bit of this tablet off so this burning tablet is nearly burning about two and half minutes you can see the flame and that's why alight this tissue that you can see that is still burning even after four minutes we have a flame my result is that's a bit more difficult to start the fire with the Ferro rod in the tablet but then it burns up to about five minutes and we have four of those pieces in our survival kit and they are even smaller than the tampon under wet conditions it's going to be very hot to start a fire only with the tampon it burns so fast down so you need some other tinder material to keep the fire going to start the fire a tampon is not my first choice it works and it's better than nothing as always I share in this video my own opinion and my own experience it doesn't mean anybody else is wrong or another way won't work you will find some more information about the used material and my gear beneath in the description box of the video I hope you liked it and you will join our movies next time again thanks for watching juice ciao and bye bye
