Dealing With Changes in Our Bodies

Description

Soldiers, women who have gone through pregnancy, those who have suffered illnesses or injury -- these things can leave permanent change in our bodies. How do we deal with this positively?

greetings everyone well but cut my hair or my wife we're back up cut my hair this is significant for me because I have not cut my hair I don't know probably since seventh grade it's been many many many years and it's always been been the same for me except for getting it trimmed at the bottom and my little six-year-old daughter reminded me if you do this it's not permanent it's not that big of a deal and so I finally had the courage to do it kind of like it it's comfortable I had a lot of hair before now as Rebecca was cutting my hair she and I started to have this conversation about changes that happen in bodies this is a very insignificant change in the sense that it is not permanent just my hair it really isn't a big deal but we started to reflect on other people in the world who go through bodily changes or transformations that leave more lasting effects in particular we started to think of veterans and we started to think of something close to home for her women who have gone through pregnancy

the many ways that our bodies change over time can be illness can be accidents can be just the effects of age but as we thought about those those two groups that came into our minds we tried to imagine for a moment the experience of being a soldier being shot hit by a bomb whatever it's going to be and losing a leg losing an arm losing both legs as my hair was cut and I realized and I felt the small amount of pain that goes with a loss I imagine that a million times over being what a soldier must feel when they wake up and they look down and there's only one leg there the horrors of war for most of us who are civilians we don't see it think about it but for a lot of the soldiers this is an everyday reality and that was a sobering sobering thought Rebecca has gone through pregnancy twice as we thought about her experiences and we thought about the countless women that go through being pregnant and many changes that can create in our body hormonal changes the audited sounds Rebecca's hair changed color from blonde to brown all these shifts that we experienced when our body changes and we're pretty much guaranteed that our body is going to change over time we can try to keep it and eat healthy and exercise but there are things that happen and this video is really about wanting to hear from all of you because I know that a lot of you have experienced changes in your physical form that really changed your life and added perspective for those of us that are younger or have never experienced what it's like to be badly injured or otherwise how our bodies functioning for us in a really positive manner we can forget that these things happen in the world and that can sometimes create a lack of compassion for that person in the wheelchair over there or it can lead us to taking for granted this gift that we have of having a body that's very very fully functional and so I would love to hear from you if you have experienced a change in your body how did you deal with it how did you transform it I especially love to hear from from soldiers and women who have gone through pregnancy how did you mentally emotionally deal with the sometimes of radical changes that can happen in your body please share help all of us by sharing your insight your wisdom your experience in the comments below

greatly appreciated my friends
