The 5-to-1 Fire Challenge

Description

Come on a journey with Nicholette, a student at ReWild University, as she takes on the 5-to-1 Fire Challenge. Although this challenge can hone your firemaking skills in different environments, it also serves as a practice in shifting your attitude from a linear, goal-oriented mindset, to a rewilded "curiosity-based" mindset, which is much more effective under pressure. To gain this from the challenge, adjust it to your firemaking abilities, making it extremely challenging but not impossible. This might mean shifting the times to longer or shorter durations, and challenging yourself with different environments. You can make this exercise very easy if you're in dry weather surrounded by flammable materials, and very difficult if you're in a damp woodland setting with no birch.

A special thanks to Nicholette for allowing us to view this footage, despite its candid nature.

I'd love to hear from you if you try this challenge out. How did it go? How did you adjust it to meet your skill level or environment? And did you, like Nicholette, experience anything significant about your approach and attitude as you moved through the exercise?
