my grandmother who died many years ago she used to always bother me about my posture

and this probably rings familiar to a lot of you there's probably somebody in your life who nagged you about your posture and not slumping over when you were sitting down to dinner or walking along and for many years you know that's annoying and I never imagined that I would someday be doing a video promoting good posture but there's a power to posture and like to talk about it a little bit today some of the benefits of it and how to enhance your own posture and start down the path to getting out of the slob so you know I was hearing this message through my early teens and by the time I was in my late teens I was an athlete and I started to notice that hmm there there really is something to this there's a correlation between people that were athletes or very much in their bodies or seem to have a lot of self-confidence and they would tend to have this really nice posture and then I noticed that there are a lot of people that had a really poor posture and they kind of slouch I also started to notice that a lot of people in their older age know when they walk around you saw a pronounced kind of pump here in the back and their necks treaded forward and I thought it looks a lot like the posture that we're seeing and today it's exacerbated because a lot of us of course we're sitting on computers and it's real easy at our computers just start to slouch and we're offered comfort everywhere we go bucket seats the kind of curl are back like this when we're driving and really soft couches slouch s watching a movie so posture has to be a conscious thing there's there's proven benefits to posture it's pretty cool some of the obvious ones or that if if I'm in a more upright posture my core I'm talking to muscles all through the ABS and through the back all those core muscles are engaged and so they're stronger they're probably burning more calories because they're engaged anytime I let my body slump those muscles are getting stretched weakened a key thing to understand here is that our body is always adapting to whatever we do with it we do this it's in a state of adaptation

if I do this it's in a state of adaptation that's why you see that correlation between somebody in their 20s and 30s you're sitting like this and then when you see them when they're 40 or 50 you're going to see that neck drop those slumped shoulders and everything kind of falling it's not just that these muscles stay engaged with the back the spine it's going to be healthier and stronger if we're engaged it's not meant to sit curve like that when we make it sit like that you know everything's pressing together in ways that our body is not built to do the result is that again most people over 30 or 40 sore backs a lot oh right sometimes even earlier again because we're starting with the games in that slump now sometimes when we're six seven eight years old it catches up to us quick there's also a a psychic or psychological power imposture so 1 i'm open expansive and upright I not only appear more confident to the people around me but it creates an inner confidence and some psychologists are starting to look at this seems to affect our rules

this contributes to kind of a Down feeling it gets a lot tougher to be down or depress when we're in a good posture anxiety confidence openness so those are some things that are being studied right now but definitely you'll notice that if you're have that upright posture that you're going to have shooting essentially more confident so people look at you and feel like wow that person seems to know what they're talking about it seems more confident and you're going to feel more confident so not only direct physical benefits put mental and psychological benefits as well if you want to start increasing your posture

here's here's the thing that you have to think about is that muscles remember a body adapts they get used to this and so when I come up right I've been like this for years it's going to be uncomfortable it's going to feel stiff it is strange but pretty soon like for me this is uncomfortable this is comfortable the body's adapted really it only takes a couple of weeks maybe two or three weeks I've found people being really diligent about this and making it like this is one thing I'm going to focus on for two weeks by the end of those two weeks starting to feel like wow my muscles have have reshaped and mats in my eyes they just love to die bump straight into the eye for some reason and and so the body is going to just feel it it's going to feel natural and you're no longer going to have to work on trying to get into that good posture and stay in that good posture you can make it a little bit effortless you're feeling more effortless instead of thinking like I must be strong upright just to think that there is a threat not a rope or chain which is really going to haul you up with a thread and I think of it it it's just extending up through the top of my head and it just lifts me gently it lists me into that nice posture or my core is engaged back muscles are engaged and lift you up and then you feel yeah Here I am it's a really good feeling the power of posture tell me about your experiences what's your posture like now you want to change it have you tried have you noticed that when you see somebody slouched as opposed to write that you have different feelings about that person have you noticed if you are in a slouch posture if you set up right do you have different feelings about yourself or you in a different psychological state when you're in those different physical postures so share your thoughts and I'll look forward to hearing you from you in the comments
