The Bushcraft Burden strap can be really easy to make. It's one of those items that takes up no room in your backpack but it really can make your life easier when out in the field. In this video I show you just a few things that I use it for. As I say in the video, the possibilities are endless and there are far more things that you can do with it. hi guys welcome to totally awesome outdoors and another bushcraft video I just wanted to do a short video on this it's a burden strap and is basically there to help make your life a little bit easier I've stored about two meters nearly two meters of paracord on here I keep this on my backpack and all it is is a bit of red deer antler with some 550 paracord three holes drilled in the red deer antler not your paracord at one end here leap it through her back through underneath er Steve got a loop-the-loop there and then out comes the rest of your line the basic principle really of a burden strap is to help you with heavy burdens but there's actually so much you can do with it a you've got I've got two meters of paracord which I could use for any cordage where I need any cordage any situations but B it can also be used as a gear loader sort so to hold all your gear against the tree which I made a video recently about where I used a bit of rope and some sticks if you want to see that video a proper link just stop here in the corner of your screen and you can watch that get some ideas from it but that can also be used for this there's a number of other different uses that you can have for a burden strap I'm just going to show you a few basic simple ones that I use but the possibilities are endless guys all I do is wrap this around the tree here's my red deer antler end here's my other end in this hand I just go over my hand like that there's the red deer then I pinch the other end and with this hand here I twist under over and then grab the red deer out the side to create a loop then I pull the loop tight like this and then level it up to where you want it and then I pull this cinch this tight like so but before I really really tighten it I get my hanger I can loosen it a bit now

leap the hangar underneath light like that and then pull this tight and I can even wrap it around the tree again pull the red deer antler tight give it a tug everything full three wrap it from around the tree pull it back round and well done okay first thing you do is where the knot is the side that's opposite the loop that's opposite just here where your knot is you want to pull a real good amount of that paracord through or whatever cordage you using put it all through because this is going to be the loop that goes over your firewood when you collect it so I've got a big loop there I'm going to lay it down on the ground just place it in the ground then you get your bundle of firewood and I'll show you what do you next you place it in there and cinch it all together okay so you get your firewood you place place it so that you're able to lift one end of your burden strap like this over the top the second bit has gone underneath the middle here will you do then is pull this up nice and high it's cinches down and once that's pulled through pull it tight leave a little room underneath because the toggle itself is actually where you grip for your firewood to hold it and it gives you a good ergonomic grip so you just wrap the fingers around there this is tight just hold the loose cordage any loose cordage you can always double wrap it around again the logs just to keep some keep it safe but up to you how much time you've got and then all you do is lift and you've got your firewood there from your burden strap you can carry maybe two burdens chaps and have two loads of firewood in each hand to save you the journey so just to show you where I put this on my bag when I store it away undo the clips on my bag I've got the hydration pouch just in on the left-hand side here and under this on the outside of the bag is where the hydration bladder can come through the tube so what I do is make a hole push this end through there and you can do it either way and then I pull the power cord right through this then pulls the red deer antler the deer on it just up against there and then I use the velcro strap on my yes this is snug pack stamina and that pinches over like that and that actually secures the antler in place all I need to do then is just sort the cordage out this side so all I do here is just take three fingers where it's come through the hydration bladder entrance bit and I just wrap the paracord around with three fingers until I leave about about six inches left at the end and then I just take it and I wrap it around nice and tight if you can the tighter you pull it the less likely it's going to slip and then at the end just a little half hitch over your last leap and it just pulls it all the tight and in place and there you go you can see that that's just stored I could probably tuck that tag ended away again if I was gonna be really particular about it but all that does now is that nothing goes in hydration bladder pouch on the side of the snowcat stamina and I just leave it dangling in there and whenever I need it it's really easy to access I can just open that I'll do the cordage there the paracord undo the velcro strap here and pour everything through and the bird instructs ready to use you don't actually have to use antler obviously you can actually just use a normal stick just a small stick about that long again you can make it any size you want but can't use a stick the main thing is you will need to drill three holes one two three in fact you could probably have a really good couple of meters of paracord and actually where I did that Siberian hitch earlier you could make a ridgeline for your tarp and you could have it your burden strap as original and for your tarp as well so you know there's loads of different things you can use for it be sure to check out the rest of our bushcraft videos on the playlist and check out some of the other videos on the channel thanks for watching guys you
