welcome to the Tony or some outdoor show where a worker was a pellicle again but this time is a little bit different I can barely lift this one now it might look like the color that you see thousands and thousands of that this is nearly an inch thick ball obviously or generally we found in the engineering side on industrial estates where they have heavy machinery they're taking extra heavy weights this is really really good solid wood much thicker probably nearly two or three times as thick as the normal cheap pallet wood you get you can search them out as I say look from anywhere Industrial Estate that are shipping in heavier items you know of goods from foreign countries and moving weight around probably still weight engines that time thing anyway well I fully intend making with this because it's better quality wood it's a very nice I'm gonna call it a Greek thing basically a girl and Tony you can use outside in the garden because the few times I get to sit down to the British weather and relax and chill in the sunshine I have to keep stretching down from the chair to pick the drink up so why don't I just make my Oh table our pallet wood for three first time it's gonna split it break it all down but I'm not gonna rip on these nails out because it was so strong they use more nails bigger nails stronger nails it can be tough work

it's nice would break it down first and then we get to work on it now listen there's not gonna be any specific divine measurements when you do this you could take all these nails out here make yourself and work but I don't need a group table for free throws and what I'm gonna do I'm gonna run the saw using a long braided reciprocal saw a long edge of the band here right where it butts up against a hole they'll say to be cutting all those nails but splitting all these nails out I get a nice straight cut same the other end and I'll get the leaver underneath here I can leave it up and hopefully get the minimal damage to the wood because this is then ready damn

I can't saw a mini n bit over 70 dos do you see here the population already this may not be easier I'm using standard wrecking bar which is got that little curve and a flat edge at the tops you can pick right under the wood but make don't make mistake of relieving out too early make sure when you hammer it down it drives right under the board and gradually this at all doesn't matter if you don't exist but you don't want to damage the top so much do you'll notice there there alternate balls on the outside I've got 14 centimeters 1414 but the two internal ones ponytails probably see this far that's going to be wide enough I'm going to use one two three here for making my drink stable the rest can go into the log burner and I might use that ball and use destruct at the bottom so let's take these off clean there some way to make sure you put it narrow side down but the nail was there they're going to be walking around and then well now broken these down into the small block who's not going to make interlace I've got to sand these down just take an edge off them make them a little bit of smooth a little bit more user-friendly should we say all the nails the nails are threaded the rubbish do not get them into your feet it's not good for tires if you put your car in the garage at all which I don't cuz there's so many other jobs I have to do in here

slats I've got loads of different snaps I'm gonna cut these to the song as I want and then we're going to sand them down and I'll show you two different ways of sanding I can work done now to make the table top off selected three slats which will give me good enough width for great stable opacity all the ends up all together of course then pallets and they're you know they're not necessarily sort of straight I've then got C clamps on them so they're clamped and I'm going to use a set square to give me a nice straight edge and take the end off nice and neat both sides you can make it you know whatever length you want there we go just get be a nice mark there probably imagine how many Greeks I can get on this in the summer it needs to be big do anything you want I'm gonna thirty inches would be enough to be honest that's two feet six in English 30 inches I'm gonna make that yes you know sort of end off first and then measure up

I've got my pieces of wood all nicely squared off at the end there now I'm gonna try and sand them down get a decent finish on this work it's nice hard with this part you can use a regular sad I'm gonna call this a vibrating sander either by different grades of sandpaper or in my case as I had furniture shops cover furniture my own or 30 years we've got the factories where they made the furniture for me and they may give me all they're throwaways belts and there's huge huge big belt Sanders this is probably 15 years old 20 years old

keep it right it still works it's very horse or you can use a much larger sound that it has that dust expect on it obviously when you're sanding for the usual health and safety glasses on I can't because I wear glasses so I cannot put glasses over the top they steam up as many of you might know who wear glasses definitely brought dust mask on or get one with a collecting bag and that has a revolving belt lot of dope so mini belts and belt sander D if you don't have power tosses everybody has power saws you can rub it down by hand sandy but rather than do your fingers you'll get a much more even well and even finish to it rather than depressions which you get your finger if you use a block of wood on there and use that to put it on flat it flattens it levels it very very effective old way of doing it

albeit hard work with elbow grease I think I'll stick with the corded equipment yeah

okay well sure it's a bit difficult to recognize as a piece of old pallet wood could have been around the world Australia New Zealand the Philippines Africa wherever its back to nice piece of solid wood so there let's go to your basic potato crop I've sanded the edges but it didn't use the belt sander for that I just use the block had a piece of sandpaper just to get those nice and smooth so they bucked up together like that

tidied up just like that so I think gonna go like that but we're just gonna run the strengthen age a curb angled age across here I'm not going to use the sound but I'm gonna be on the outside edges but just two of them and it shows up as well regular surface I don't want you call these around the world we call them a surf or just plain office you could use a plane if you wanted to just going to slightly round the outside edges all the great work they're never gonna work on the lakes and what we call in the trade the stretches okay if you can imagine spit long really that's the flat of our drinks table I'm gonna have lakes in each corner as it were they cook it a bit what if it gets moved around so in the furniture trade they fit what we call stretches which are two crossbars or could be single spars that go all the way around the edge and what I'm going to do is more palate would be thinner pieces Targus is only piece of four inches so that's Ted handy I'll cut that at two inches straight down the middle

probably use a circular saw where that might be it straighter once that let's cut down I've got two knives for the four foot lengths I could mess around I could even get the artistic with if I want to and put the stretches in so that I know those links will collapse the more important I won't spill my drinks I split that four feet by two inch wide piece of wood down the middle as you can see I've sworn it right down the middle and I've cut it I put this on it on the top side just to give me the actual size I want to put the stretcher legs on the bottom so they can go around the bottom so this is actually sort of upside down if that makes sense but it's just my way okay you're good measurements all gonna fit so I'm going to use four legs yes the blocks they're going to go in each corner 23 high and I'm going to put a spacer in one I do it that way so get organized that go crossways it but wait crossways with it I would come to the outside edge and cut an angle on it okay and then throw a screw in and then simply put the next block in over the top of it but what I'm going to do is build the leg up like this as you see there I think three is enough for me to reach 200 degrees and then put my stretch

on the outside like this to support them so really pretty basic the next job fix these three together okay so join these blocks together I'm going to use way for this reconstituted nails that I've taken out but I've cut the heads of them I'm going to use a small drill just to make a bit of a hole dead in the center a little dab of wood a DC bayonet that might be a bit too much really for a luxury year bit like this plus I can't now see the hole there it is and I've got the head part going into the hole nice and straight about half way and simply line up your other one and where you going in fact sometimes it's better than make it rustic and you know what I can do with this which I've done before just do an offset twist I think that makes it a little bit neater well you're gonna remember is to keep the other twists going back this way if you're going to put that spar at the bottom dab of glue around then barely any at all just holds it in place especially outside so the heads cut off there in we go the hole and then you can see the other one drops over but do remember to keep it square at the bottom if that's going to be the outside that this square is level with that square then you've got a bit of pattern in between with the middle one then we go a perfectly usable leg a rustic look about it I've done it offset in the middle you can always adjust it a little bit if you want before it sets I'm going to do the other three legs let this all set up overnight come out the morn and we'll take another look and do those stretches on the bottom and then we're getting very nearly towards staining right back the next morning all my legs my blocks are all nice and solid on the glue set and now I'm gonna put them onto my table top so you turn this upside down just check the squares or okay rings and then there some screwed up and what I'm going to do I'm going to drill the four holes through here and then I'm going to use coke screws to go through because they've got a nice big thick back thread and they're gonna bite into that wood pretty well little dab of glue on there and I'll countersink that bolt as well and then I'm going to fill the countersink hold out don't forget this going to be outside I don't need moisture any water will make that elusive rocket out I'm going to count take the whole footage of wood filler and then we can start the final part which really is the best bit staining it

okay put the coach screws in but what I'm gonna do I'm not going to recess I'm gonna leave them just sticking up a little bit

there's nothing going to catch any drinks glasses on there and they're just you know two three bell higher than the wood but that way it stops the rain getting in any reason I feel with I put wood filler in there the Sun and then the cold it's gonna crack the wood foot up and I'm still gonna get a leak so I'm actually reenacted it or just going to leave those coach screws in just a tiny bit proud they're basically they're down as long as they want to go I've already to do now he's put on my straps that supports the go both ends and then along the side and the course of pre-measured them so I know they're exactly the same length as the top and I can just screw one in and an easier mate in or out and that makes a perfect support and there's no way of a theme or your are going to take again or say I can stand on this really stupid okay we're gonna whiz these and with regular decking screws why decking screws because I've got them in my toolbox but more important they have a nice wide gap between each of the threads so they they bite into softer wood I feel and they're good enough for decking they're good enough for my supports I'm gonna prefix them here it makes life a little bit easier and this little cool this is gonna fire them in with no problem at all yeah for putting these stretches I'm not gonna put them flush with the ground I'm gonna leave them a few millimeters up so that they don't suck in water by osmosis this will you can't help that but if this does start to rot out I can still show it off I love to leave that little gap there just a few millimeters each side stops the water going up there this way I've got the same length at the bottom as I have at the top of the stretchers on the bottom now let's see if I can keep my word and stand on it here we go the moment of truth Hey faith in your own workmanship but there you go nothing wrong with that ten and a half stone of pure fighting mail now comes the best bit and that's staining it you can paint it you can stain it you can varnish it you can treat it with a wood door I'm just using regular this is furniture stained on it I'm not gonna go dark I'm gonna keep it fairly light and then what happens is if you put a dark stain on you don't like it you can't get off you've got a sandal down if you use a light color to start with you can at least grate it down by going over the top say you start with light oak thing quite a bit wishy-washy a bit like you can go down medium you can go to darker three grains here if you don't go up hope to start with Oh give me your stuff and the first I'll take the trouble I'm saying this book down I feel the grain white coming up you know it's gonna show up it's gonna come out in it well be it only gonna be the garden let's get it on see what it looks like this one's probably gonna take a couple of coats generally and put it on nice and thick fill those holes out any nail holes that are left over you can always push some wood filler in if you want and I've left these belt folks sticking up the heads so that this varnish will see the round there it might be better than actually researching it and then footing it filling it with the wood stains this will probably need a couple of coats at least but you can see the difference in the color

I draw a line nice and straight there you can see always finish your brushstrokes going with the grain with your painting all varnishing or staining and when you you know what when you do for this just go very lightly with a big the weight of the brush over it in one direction there you go it looks good to me well there you can see the finished product the varnish is dry is all ready to use you can have it in a garden conservatory outbuilding summer house I've got it for the gun unfortunately it's the middle of winter here in Britain but us oldies ask british oldies I can't speak for the younger generation are made of sterner stuff and if you think I've done all this work with that for nothing I'm not going to enjoy it you are sadly mistaken right do you mean this shirts a bit fish there's nothing wrong with this shirt got a bit of snow never hurt anybody this saves me chilling the beers now let's just see if that tape was any good for holding some beers oh yes oh yes this is what I call more luxury this is a hot I wanted more drink set that's sweet
