hey guys doing this William Myers Mass outdoors back at you with another video in today's video we're going to be doing a video on a backpack that is a little bit out of my wheelhouse I really don't mess with these packs very too much but you know hikers long hiker Z's and things like that like these packs very much and this one is from kelp Dietz from it's the Tioga 5500 so stay tuned alright so here's the pack itself right here this is the Tioga 5500 and like I said this is a little bit different than anything I've used personally I just I really haven't been a huge fan of frames backpacks but I wanted to get one test it out go through some hikes in the woods things like that just to see how maybe I would like it usually I go with things that don't have frames so the most I've done with that is an external frame or internal I'm sorry internal frame this is an external frame but there's a lot of things that you can use with an external frame or you could do with an external frame backpack you know this just screams out mods and things that you can do one thing that we used to do with external frames my buddy Bubba used to have an external frame I think I think was just a regular Coleman but we asked to actually pull out deer with the back end of the frame we would tie the deer to the legs and then tie it to the frame and then just drag it out that way a little bit easier I know people that actually have smaller deer that I have actually strapped the deer itself to the frame which in my opinion anytime you have a deer on your back we just paint a target on yourself especially if you're in public woods like there's some survival manuals and you know hunting manuals and things like that talking about basically making a frame out of a backpack out of a deer where you strap its legs together and then put it on your back and haul it out on your back that's just screaming shoot me in my opinion because you know you get out in the woods and you see a deer walking through the woods you shoot it and well it's actually attached to somebody sorry pal you just got shot but anyway I digress so right away I'm going to get the bat out of the way this thing if it is

not properly loaded again stressed not properly loaded which I do not have it properly loaded is extremely top-heavy this bag hangs way high up on the frame itself so if you don't have something on the bottom of this strap to the bottom of it looks a little wonky it gets a little top-heavy when I was walking through the woods it swayed a little on my back I didn't like that other than that it is pretty comfortable fit to your back so that's not really too big of a deal and I like the way the frame feels and also like I said there's so many things that can be done with the frame itself even taking this pack off and using the frame tons of stuff that you can do so you know you kind of take the good with the bad so right now we're going to go through the contents not exactly the contents but the accessories that come with the pack and what you can exactly do it so we basically just did a little hiking the days not really that much couple miles maybe and just to kind of see the fit of the pack itself and it was pretty comfortable I said there was a couple downsides to it so but long and short that is I don't really have anything in here all that I have in here basically is what I'm going to be reviewing today and that's some some wool clothing pants and a jacket just get those out of the way real quick throw them over here here because it's like 90 degrees well I want to go through the reason why I'm doing it a video [Applause]

actually it's not the first time I've shown roll in the summertime there's a reason for it that's not cheap a lot of people wrap stayed to buy that alright so here is the internal of the pack now the kind of crazy thing about that is that it's got a frame so you know you can pull this off and it's like a play of trapping basket almost which is kind of cool you know I don't have a ton of experience with packs like this so if I'm doing this wrong I'm sure somebody will comment below but I mean there's so much room in here and so if you have like a sleeping bag or something like that in here you can access that through this on the bottom part you can keep all that separate with this flat fits in the top up here then it has like maybe a mount matte polish stuff like that in here pretty big bucket and I like that I don't like a lot of crazy pockets and stuff like that inside my bag you know I just like to a dump pouch basically like just dump all my stuff in here it's kind of Tetris it in that way I know where it is I just grabbed it out especially when it's dark in outside okay let's put these down and I'm sure I'm not doing this exactly the way it's supposed to be but the internet will let you know yeah so the main pouch has a nice cross string to it excuse everything nice is secure then that main flap has a very small but convenient say like matte pouch well here's the instructions to the back so that I wanted to read that before I did this video but it's a backpack I think I can figure that's a Man Thing

yeah yeah right so one of the cool features about this is it has a really big pocket on the side here that's bent it could be for like bottles 32 ounce bottles things like that I've got another small pouch on the outside of it you know for things that you don't want to be in the main dump that you want to be able to access a little quicker it's got another little small pouch on the side of it you know these are all things that I like a couple pouches on the outside maybe bigger couches like this on the outside so I don't have to go through my main pouch to get like just flashlights and maybe my lunch for that day or something like that this is a really really thick huge actually maybe possibly things like that and then another tripod right tripod for us youtubers another nice big sleeve right there if the bottles could set stuff up that so like I was saying the way this pack rides when it's when I had just you know that wool it weighs quite a bit be honest with you about ten pounds just in wool there it wrote a little high and I'll show you what I mean when I put the pack on itself all that that weight up here rode a little high on this so I mean this is more for the backpacker campers people that are not gonna be really put back huh sat back more set go back more well that's it okay it just looked like it was like up over your head

I'll put the waist Revlon yeah that's what I mean it's like the rides pretty hot alright so like I said this is more for like the average hiker people that aren't going to be like you know 10 feet from their car things like that you know packing all that you can in here you're going to be a danger of getting this thing really heavy really quickly amount alone relax on that everything that I I mean I don't want to bad-mouth the packs because I think it's a decent pack but everything that I use in the woods is 30 35 pounds tops so I mean I don't think this pack is exactly for me I just wonder if there was something looking first strap I would think that you'd I don't have a pack like this you know like you said it puts on a sleeping bag or sleep system underneath that yeah I mean that's what it's for for like your ground pad and then sleeping pad a sleeping pad and sleeping bag things like that that's what this pack is made for people that are going long distances and that's a little bit out of me and Chris's will house you know anymore I don't have cars yeah well I don't I don't pack stuff in more than five miles even Wayne National Forest on my campsites five miles in I really don't need a pack like this but I like it it's not bad rides a little high you know you'd be one of those guys that have a 40 foot pack up in the air everything you own isn't but all right so the one of the things that I do like about this is the straps here they're made not to pull this way with your senior triceps they made the pool with your biceps this way so you can get a pretty good tight fit on this thing and the same with these so I'm tricep pool you know you can get really tight fit you're snug you walk through the woods that being said it did kind of ship the sides a little bit just a little bit and look me like my Sabra thought it doesn't do that it doesn't have a frame line so this is something to think about all right so like I said I just wanted to get this try it out see what the big deal that was it's not a bad pack it's just probably not for me those of you guys that do long-term hiking long hiking things like that's probably for you better step for you anymore my foot the way it is I don't go wrong hiking anymore have it for a long time so yeah it's a decent pack it's an ice pack rides a little high for me need to be packed down a little bit more on the on the back end rather than that she'll work pretty good pack all right guys well it's been William Myers mask outdoors I hope you enjoyed the video if you did appreciate you subscribing to the channel hit and like helps me out a lot
