hey guys this week Mars minutes outdoors teragrams you doing the part two of the candle making DIY project so stay tuned if they don't use these things they're around for the mold that we made obviously that's gonna be an essential part of this project beeswax and kind of the optional equipment for this is these little stands

on that

you guys got to excuse the car noises on out front of my house and I live pretty close to the street so you're gonna hear some cars but these a little candlewick basis and a multi-tool basically what's going to need is a pair of pliers and a knife mounted to us both just get them also - you're gonna need candlewicking the faces and the candle wicks that I get are from a website called candle wick calm that's candle WIC calm and this candle wick is yeah 28 by 24 hopefully you guys can see that right in there glare I'm getting from my vantage point but that's the size of this it's a cotton around there's only like 10 bucks I think so I got all my bases in here this uh little tin here so I don't have to go nice that I'll just leave what's a wax and a heat source we got the the propane grill out here has their heat source so I'm gonna go ahead and kind of explain a little bit the steps that I didn't explain in the previous video once you have your mold D molded what you're gonna need to do is you're gonna need to stand it up and do a straight down line cut with a very sharp knife pretty much all the way down the mold and that's really going to help you extract your candles out if you don't have this cut down the middle and it's not gonna try to pop these candles out by pushing on the bottom and stretching and pouring it's it's a headache trust me believe me you know you'll really one you're gonna crack damage break candles before you get one out you're gonna break three or four before you get one successful you know this way it's quicker

plus I'm successful probably 98% of the time

every now and then I pull a candle too soon and it's still kind of in its liquid state that's a failure but this is way faster if you cut down the middle and then all you got to do is like I said place a hair tie around it sometimes you might have to double that hair tie it up but just look at it as long as you don't see light going through that crack you're sealed up and you're not gonna leave this one alright guys so like I said I got the the candle wick in here and this is the really important part this part actually took some experimenting if you get too big of a candle wick then you'll get too hot a flame too big of a flame and it'll burn the candle wax and use it as fuel too fast you know it'll go down the lantern itself you know there's all kinds of problems if you get too thin of a wick it won't burn properly it'll burn too slow and the fuel will actually good put the the wick on itself so with experimenting I found my personal favorite and my personal best which is this 28 by 24 from candle wicks calm what so you guys kind of get a freebie here as and you're seen the candle wicks that I use and how to make it plus you're getting a primitive cordage listen so let's just make a kind of a small wick we don't need nothing too huge just for this demonstration here we've got the kids coming home we've got all kinds of distractions in the background

Oh shudders hey all right guys so all I did was basically double that candle wick into just like this and this is a real quick easy way to make cordage and the way that we do that is not the two ply reverse wrap chords that you see me make it a previous video we're just gonna make this quick twist just like this rolling out our leg and then letting go and what that does is it puts a nice twist right in the wick just like that you know they grab where the twist is and then progress down making sure that this is spread the exams are here or spread because you don't want them to touch when you're rolling because they'll wrap up just give it a nice tight twist

like I said let go twist go ahead and proceed down get this all done up real quick then I'll show you the next step so this is a really quick way to make cordage

unfortunately there's some natural materials you know it's just almost next to impossible to roll like this on your leg so it makes it harder but you know like things like dog bang and you know tulip poplar sometimes I can get that twist really easy like this okay so that easy that quick we're done but we're not exactly done yet what you need to do is twist it up really really good and then we're gonna do what's called setting the fibers you know twisting this up binding this up really quick and then give it a nice cool

and that sets these fibers and they didn't go ahead and let him go and then there you go that's how quickly to make cordage and how I make these candle wicks to where they burn perfectly hot enough they use the fuel good enough and I just put on Facebook I've been getting a lot of feedback from customers that I've already sold candles to saying that my candles are lasting around 12 hours 15 hours was the longest but anywhere from 12 to 15 hours mostly it's around 13 14 hours all right guys so the bobby pin I told you guys we need a hole there for the kid wicking itself all the way to the ball in the straight pin so we have a divot in there as well and that helps us feed these in so what you want to do is just like that this urethane is some really really strong stuff so it's not like I mean that that's gonna close right back up just kind of get in there and feed that feed that Bobby pick up until the wicking comes through there we go the wicks come through so alright guys so if you recall from the last video this is what's called a self wicking mold and what that means is that once the candle wick is in and we pour a candle once we remove that candle the only thing we're doing is pulling more wick up and then we cut it molds already wigs so at this time when I get some candle wax melted at this point so by the time it's melted we're ready to pour and then we're gonna proceed building or more okay the only suggestion that I have is when you're banding is not to be too aggressive with this don't get it too tight because you'll actually compress your mold at that point and then when you de mold your candle we'll have kind of a taper to it at this point so just get it to where it's sealed and you're not gonna have any leaks and then let it go

now we're going to attach our base Megan can you get kind of close up on this all right so to attach the base all you do is just like this and I kind of roll it over so just crap right there at the base and make sure you haven't put too much of a bend in this right here and now we're going to set up for our pour here by using the bobby pin putting it right at that face donor mole giving the candlewicking

a pool make sure it's tight I just make sure a candle wick is directly in the middle go to the back your mold give it up make everything nice and snug and tug and we're right forth alright guys so ready to pour our first candle ration at four two candles on here because I want to show you de mole and pulling wicking the new can just take that all the way to the top just like that and here in about 10-15 minutes maybe even 20 minutes you might have to put a little bit more on top because when it cools it actually sinks and kind of gets a concave to it and sometimes you'll get holes and things like that and you want to fill those in but if it doesn't if it cools right you should be good so stick around all right guys so I'm pretty sure this has been long enough I think I'm kind of rushing this a little bit because I want to get this video done but let's go ahead and try to de molde dis and see what we get so I'm just folding the bands down and telling me where my split is in the mold and then I need to take and push

the body to now and from this point what I want to do is I want to pull on the reserve this will also tell me how close I am to the molding - so I'm pretty confident that I could depose this just for what I got to dress the back end of this candle up cuz of you know this is the stand this is the bottom of the people that we have right now so I'm kind of dressing it up right now it's just my finger then find my split in the mold slowly pull it apart and what I want to do is I want to make pretty much a wave with this side of the mold and wave all the way around just like this and that'll de mold that whole side and then pull apart this part spread it apart with my fingers and pull out and now we get to kind of eyeball how big we want the candle wick how long I should say we want the candle wick itself to be and that's not really hard you know a word of caution you don't want to let these sit in the mold let's say like overnight or something like that because right now the mold because like I said you're gonna crack and break candles a lot so we got a candle out that's good to go as you see our mold is already wick and go ahead and slap another basin you know when I'm pulling these bands up I'm really I don't want to see any light coming through the mold from that crack and once that I'm satisfied if that's not gonna happen I know I'm not gonna get any leaks then I'm gonna make sure that my candle wick is in the middle pull on the slack to give it some tension all right another candle wax is already melted

two candles and then it just goes on until we run out of wick you make some more wick thread it you keep making candles so if this DIY project is something that you're just absolutely not interested connection with some beeswax all the beeswax that I can actually handle and depending on the price of beeswax which fluctuates I can sell these candles from anywhere for three dollars or I can sell them by the candle which is I believe it's two dollars a candle like I said it fluctuates or I can sell them three four six three four five I'll let you know what the price of beeswax is at that time of sonim shouldn't be any more than six dollars for three and that's a lot you're going to get from any kind of a website because the cheapest that I found them is 3 for $10 or 3 for $15 you know I've seen them as that high before so just like I said remember that if you're not interested in this DUI unless you have a project at all hit me up argue some candles on the cheap just that shipping and handling to you all right guys what's been waymarsh mast outdoors I hope you enjoyed the video if you did I appreciate if you click Subscribe pushing like really helps my channel in my video out a lot I appreciate all your views comments and support tuffly we'll see you out in the woods
