VERSATILITY OF THE TWITCH UP OR SPRING SNARE

Out in the field with Chris from Prepared Mind 101. I set up a basic twitch up snare to show the versatility of the trap, this one trap can be set up in several different configurations.

hey guys doing this blue marshmallow out doors out here in the woods with Chris prepared my 1 1 egg that was Chris and we're just going to show you a real basic trap primitive trap right now it's the very very first trap that I teach my students is the very very first trapped I teach my kids it's just a very very basic trap

so really the point of this video is not to show you how to build the trap which we will anyway but I want to show you how versatile this trap is it's not a very complicated trap which I don't like complicated traps I don't wanna be out there in the woods making 2530 super-hyper

complicated contraptions I want to be able to snap some branches put them in the ground get a spring snare going get a you know a snare running snare going you know if I don't have to do something I'm not going to I'm going to set up 10 15 dead falls I'm going to set up 10 15 20 spring snares and then I'm ready to roll so let's get to it show you how this works alright guys so what we got going on down here like I said is the just a very very basic spring snare trap and it utilizes the Y you can use a Y even in a tree you don't have to go out and harvest one if you can utilize something that's already existing go ahead and do that but just a basic toggle on the back here with a bait stick bait sticks right here usually I would make this smaller to bait shave it down a little bit but it's easier to show up on camera four things are a little bit bigger and utilizing this bank line here it's a thirty thirty six bank line that I've taken one strand off and it can be a little have a little bit of memory to it so I staked out the snare a little bit alright so the point of this you know you really want to make this a hair trigger system but you know the M comes in here and starts chewing on on the bait stick and then gets caught and really what you want to focus on is if you're using like Bank line or any kind of natural cordage you need to get your animal up off the ground so as long as his Paul's up here and everything is suspended and off the Brown he's not going to be able to reach up and choose chew this cordage and just get away so if you run a like a blind snare on the ground he'll be able to just kind of curl around and chew this and get right off of it so you want to focus on getting them off the ground but like I said the point of this video is to show you guys the versatility of this trap so we're going to set this up again and it's real easy to set this trap up guys all you got to do is place your toggle on the Y stick just like that kind of grab the back of it place your bait stick in right against the trigger stick and then let it get pressure and watch your face because this is when things usually go wrong all right so now instead of putting the snare on it I'm going to set the snare to the side just like this and what ideally I would do is make a dirt set you know dig this in a little bit and then set these sticks up just like this basically what I'm doing is I'm turning this trap into a treadle trap and then you could throw something underneath here like if you're targeting up meat eaters like raccoons opossums store like some fish guts or something underneath of it so whatever gets in here is going to be curious about that smell and what I would do is I would put this basically up against the side of the the dirt hole like this so nothing's going to step this way because you know that'll be the side of a hole and it's kind of set up your treadle here just like this yeah kind of fill in the holes you don't want a whole foot going through it and then grab your snare reset it and then throw it on the actual treadle itself just like that see basically just you're setting up your trettel this is kind of take two at a battery issue then instead of wrapping it around this side like I said in the first take just kind of put your snare on the actual treadle itself just like that and then like I said you know building a dirt hole set you'd have the the actual dirt but I guess that and then your bait in here which could be anything for fish guts to whatever you're eating last night save a little bit of it leave it out in the Sun let it get nice and stinky and then you know fill up your dirt hole with leaves and stuff like that but I want to leave those out to demonstrate and then whatever comes in here to smell the bass going to put the pall down to get their nose in there and then set the snare off alright guys well last one I'm going to show you guys go ahead and reset here get our treadle out of the way here the last one that I'm going to show you guys is basically for fishing and we'll go ahead and reset this just like this make sure we've got kind of a hair trigger on there and then if you can imagine instead of this being a snare this being a fishing line okay yeah your sinker and all this is setup on it your hook all that stuff this could be you know 20 25 30 foot thrown out into the water but what we do first before throw it out in water and when you're throwing it out in the water you have to be very careful it's kind of give it a little bit of a loop around just a little square not very very careful watch your face when you're doing this guys just like that okay then

throw your line out in the water catfishing you know is what I use this for mostly and then when the catfish takes the bait pulls since the hook for you so this can be on the bank working for you when you're in camp relaxing do another camp toss getting ready for bed letting these traps soak overnight going in the morning see if you have a nice catfish or raccoon or possum what have you there you go all right guys let's go a little note primitive trapping in most states in the continental United States is absolutely legal you have to do your research and see I offhand just off my memory do not know of any state that it is legal in I know that there are a few it I have to go and research that for you I might note that down the bottom but just you know doing this would be something that you practice and it's not kind of hard not to bait it and see what happens and get your practice that way but you know setting these up and letting them you know fire them on yourself basically stuff like that you know that's the only way you're going to get legal practice doing this all right guys let's pin William Myers Mass outdoors hope you enjoyed the video if you did appreciate it to click subscribe down below like in my video helps me and my channel not a lot appreciate all reviews comments and support and hopefully we'll see you out in the woods now you have a treadle style and it's the same trap just in a different to kick configuration almost got spit that out
