hey guys doing this William Irish Mass outdoors and I've been getting a lot of questions on my facebook channel and some on YouTube as well you know questions and statements you know like will we see that you carry the Pathfinder Scout we see you carry a silver fox cub knife you know those are very expensive knifes what would you suggest if I only have maybe a hundred bucks or fifty bucks or you know if you had fifty bucks to spend what knife would you buy and you know this is Chris's knife this is a condor portalis and in my opinion for what the price point on this is which is sixty bucks and this sheath is a prototype sheet this is Chris's but even as a prototype very very sturdy very very well made conked Kydex is a really really nice material I do appreciate it I'm kind of a leather guy myself all my all my sheets are leather but this is the Condor portalis and like I said for 60 bucks but you know for something as a bushcraft knife you know it does have a coating on it so that is one kind of a down pointsme Chris Wilcox steel is this do you know it's Condor I believe it's 1075 high carbon steel five millimeter thick spine yeah so you know out of the box in my opinion I would I would deal with the coating you know the knives that I buy they come right out of the box no modifications needed you know that's I do appreciate that you know but for a sixty dollar knife you know the only thing that in my opinion you want to deal with is like I said that that coating but that to make it replicate some of the other things that my knives would do other than that this is a really really nicely designed knife the handle you know you hear me talk on prepare my 101 and my channel about squared handles this one isn't that bad you know this handle is really really nice you're going to be able to use this knife for a very very long time and it's not going to cramp you up it's not going to you know fatigue your hand out very well but it comes it looks almost like convex edge

yeah yeah convex but it is very very good for you know feather sticks and like little tiny camp tasks and carvings and things like that really really knocks the wood right out of the way so I'm a hundred percent sure this thing is going to be really really good at wood processing this stick probably isn't the best for feather sticks but I'm just kind of trying to give you guys an example of what this knife could do it really really likes to get a good bite on the wood so you're really going to if you're making feather sticks oh I can look at you're going to have to use a pretty light touch as far as that kosis yeah you know as far as really light work you're really going to have to know what you're dealing with a knife to be able to get this to do really soft feathers or anything like that you know have you have to have your knife skills pretty well hone because this thing really wants to bite into the wood there we go just got to kind of get a feel for the blade first you know get those cutters to where they're going to light with a Ferro rod they need to be pretty paper-thin

but this knife is absolutely rockin and rollin on this wood I'm pretty impressed now for people that like to strip knives I should point out what I discovered when I stripped my crotalus is there was some like imperfections a little bit of pitting that just I mean it's not going to hurt anything but just doesn't look good so what I ended up doing is I replace the coating so it looked the way it it came out of the box but instead of that being a light powder coat or something like that that's actually dira coat or oh this is Dirk oh yeah the blacks dark coat so I wonder if that Dirk it would it probably would stop it from creating a spork though I wonder if maybe a gun bluing would work because the gun bluing won't won't affect the way that uh I'm talking about with a rock I'll try it on though yeah yeah I'll try to get a spark off this I just didn't like the way it looked a little a little bit of pitting and that's going to vary on knives steel to steel oh yeah it definitely creates a nice park with a feral Rock but yeah like I said I was wondering basically what it would do if I'm trying to strike the back of it you know with a rock for flint and steel what that dirt coat would do I would suspect that eventually you'd bust through that dirt coat and you just get to raw steel but I wonder if you just do a gun bluing on it if you'll have the same effect you know what I mean but you know this knife is a hog on wood processing you know like I said I'm about 100 percent sure this thing's going to be a great boot honor but let's go ahead and try it out well switch over here

yeah okay so good at both you're gone now you know something like this use use your hands back to hanging anything you know this being 3/16 inch thick you're not gonna break this knife is 5 millimeter thick but all five know there's a slightly bigger than that you know in it it is a full tang knife is it micarta or g10 looks it feels like more over my card yeah my card my card is a great grip material you know this is this is a really good knife for bushcraft tasks you know and like I said it's only 60 bucks all right guys so that is just to really answer your guys's question you know in the fifty sixty to a hundred dollar range this is the best knife that I found right now at this point that is in that budget point you know this is a really really good knife out of the box it has some some things that need to be addressed it has a fantastic edge on it Chris is this that you're doing the edge this is a work sharp yep yeah so out of the boxes that come with a convex edge or as I say it comes to know Condor generally puts convex edges on all their knives yeah and I just tweaked it a little bit you know and the sheath that comes with it you know a $60 knife that comes with a nice Kydex sheet you know I'm pretty impressed with this knife like I said for the price point you know so if you guys are on a budget this would be the knife for you the Condor cut Alice well anyways this has been William R Smith outdoors
