alright how we do today we're going to do a short video today about the importance of having a metal container you got a redundant container pour that so basically we've lost it now what what do we do well now we're gonna have to result to resorts are too primitive methods to disinfect water if we're not by a water source that we're absolutely one hundred percent sure that it's clean so we're going to have to burn in a container out of this log right here and then you stones to boil in that log I'll show you that process right now alright so like I said in the first part of this video something's happened we've also containers so now we're in trouble we don't have the ability to cook medicines we don't have the ability to sterilize our water through boiling we don't have any methods of collecting anything containers are one of the most important things and as you'll see in this video one of those hardest things replicate in the wild through primitive needs so where we're going to start this out as is with our knife and you know this thing is always attached to me so if i don't have a knife that means I'm dead anyway so what we're going to do we went to your knife we're going to kind of get a level field on this thing so we can then roll this log over when I start a fire on the log itself using our main fire and we're going to use the fire from our main fire to burn into this ball and then we're going to get a sharp digging stick I'm going to rake those coals out of that and then slowly but surely throughout the course of summer our several hours can 12 today we are going to make a big enough impression latest thing to hopefully burn our boil 32 ounces of water and disinfect it there so we're going to start out by getting all this out like I said we're going to make a level a flat part in this wood with our knife here and obviously if I had a cat this would be easier but I do have that but I feel that would be cheating at this point because if your your resulting of this I mean something's happened to you where maybe you fell in some water and you don't have your bag on you and you can hit your back somehow some way so they're nice always going to be on your side so that's why i'm going to start this out by using my knife just to get a flat board and then we'll go on to start the fire and get this done we'll get back to you thanks alright we're back so we've harmed a flat portion into this log right here now we're going to start a fire on top of this log using the coals from this fire to help us out and then we're going to burn and then dig it out then burn again dig it out just repeat that process until we get a nice big bowl in that log and then we can boil water in it but I'll keep you updated all right guys sorry about the video the quality of this video you're not gonna be able to see much but I hope you can see that that's the log there I got a decent fire going in here obviously it's getting dark and you know I'm working really hard to do this one of the thing about primitive skills is you know it expands a lot it expands a lot of calories to recreate some of these things in the wild that's why they're so important to keep on you and keep them safe because you know burning in a container making a hundred-foot of primitive cordage or making a primitive shelter all those things expel so much energy and you know if you have a metal container in your in your haversack you know a tarp in your haversack and you know paracord or bank line in your haversack you know these are things you don't have to recreate and makes you really really really appreciate what's in your pack and watching your gear keeping that stuff safe and close to you I apologize about dogs borgen um I don't know you know obviously I'm in my backyard I'm not out in the wild I couldn't get out to out to the woods so we're just here doing here but as you can see we got good bed of coals on top of this log and once this fire goes out we're going to keep this going for a little while but once this goes out we're going to brush all this away and we're going to use a digging stick to kind of get in here and dig out all the coals and then we're going to start over by put another fire in here and just repeat this over and over and over again now this is definitely a long process and this is something that's going to start out on night one and you're probably going to finish it on day two so you know obviously like I said the importance of carrying stuff is just it just shows you how much to appreciate your gear so you don't have to do crap like this but I'll get back to you and we'll keep you updated on the process alright guys broke out the headlamp finally so you guys can see but I'm hoping you guys can get in here and see that the bottom of log see the log itself is actually kind of got a cold one now and that's really really really what we want because that's going to help us burn into it if you don't see that then you're doing something wrong and trust me it's happened to me before where the log the fires are sitting on top of lager and it's not doing very well so yeah as long as you get a bed of coals in there and then get that log actually to catch and that law begins to pull up that's what we're looking for and this is the second burn that's on top of here and we already raked it down so we're going to we were continuing with this fire right now when you get it nice and going and we're going to knock it off of here when it dies down we're going to carve it down again we're getting slowly but surely we're getting somewhere but I will keep you updated alright so now we're going to go through the process a little bit further we've knocked our fire off here now we're going to kind of get into the ashes get all them off there and now what we're going to do with you the coals that we're in here start scraping get those poles out of there all the way down to where we see bare wood again then it's time to start another fire in here and it's time to start another fire in here and get more coals going and do the process over and over and over again this is a very long drawn-out process something that you definitely don't want to have to do it so I'm going to get the rest of this dugout I'm going to get another fire in here and i'll get back to you thanks for watching
