I consider myself being a modern hunter-gatherer who wants to live as close as possible with mother nature and right now I am in the process of learning how to live off the land and thrive in the wilderness. hi my name is Lily and today I want to make a video about acorns stay tuned acorns come from the oak tree like this one here and they grow all over the world acorns are full with nutrition they have carbohydrates to have fats minerals and vitamins that's why they are excellent for wild edibles but acorns also do have a lot of tannins which make them very very bitter so you have to process the acorns before you can eat them and the other leaves they look quite the same all over the world with a few differences but they are pretty easy to identify back at the camp now we have to process the acorns we're going to peel off the skin and the seed coat

and next we cut the acorns into small pieces

I have cut up half of the acorns that I've found and I'm adding some water to it because now we have to cook them like five to six times to get all the tenants out now let's change the water cooking acorns takes a lot of time and the alternative is that it take the cut-up acorns put it in a net like this and hang it into a stream and then the tenants will wash out themselves which takes about 24 hours to 48 hours I have done five points and this is my last one now and yeah most of the bitterness is gone and there's a little bit of a tard off the taste but yeah after this final boil they will be good to eat so if you have to time to process and cook acorns they make a very good survival food but today I don't want to eat them up like this I want to roast them and want to make acorn coffee out of it okay that's enough now roasted acorn tastes very good they remind me of sweet chestnut mm-hmm you know if this was available at the movies I would definitely order it over popcorn I take the rest of the acorns home with me and this is going to be my good morning coffee in the next day's my late grandmother she said that they drank a con coffee then they didn't have anything else like real coffee and they were drinking it during the Second World War and she said that it tastes a little bit like coffee and with a lot of imagination it's true so I want to thank you for watching please check out these videos here at the sides they are showing my friend Cho Roubini who is from Canada and he is doing this great camping trips and he has this awesome bushcraft Channel I want to thank you for watching if you want to support my channel check out my Amazon store and subscribe to my channel if you want to see more state until next time
