hi guys my name is Lily and today i want to show you how to use flash tinder to make a fire stay tuned okay guys today i want to show you how to use flash tenders for your fire there are some flash dinners in nature that you can find for example these cattail seeds and they are very very fluffy and they are called flash tina because they ignite very easily but also they do flash that means that they burn very very fast extremely fast the only thing that you have to consider when using flash tenda is that you need some kind of secondary tinder to catch the flame because the flash tinder burns super super fast as secondary chinda I'm taking this read seeds here they are very fluffy but not as fluffy as flash hinder and they should catch the flame and extend the flame a little bit longer now if you open up a kettle seed it will look like this and actually this is very warm and fluffy so if you're suffering from hypothermia you can collect some of these and put this inside of your sleeping bag or inside of your clothing you know this makes great great insulation actually

okay a test came across this form birch tree and birch bark is another secondary tinder that you can use in combination with the flash tinder okay back at the camp now I want to show you how to use the flash tinder first of all you need to flap out the tinder and one trick is is to not fluff it up and leave it at one pile you just want to spread it out as much as possible and laid out as soon as possible because usually when you are igniting the cattail fluff it usually only burns at the surface it won't touch the other side of the tinder okay one way to ignite a flash tinder is with a fire steel and now I want to show you what happens if you use the flash tinder just by itself so as you can see it doesn't burn for a long time it just flashes and that's why we have to use a secondary tinder to catch the flame and to extend the flame okay first of all i'm using a little bit more kick than fluff and the first secondary tinda combination is going to be cattail fluff with birch bark okay now that's one piece of the birch bark that we have collected and basically what you want to do with it is you want to rip it apart into small and find pieces like this so you make fine pieces like this and then you just lay it on the pile of cattail okay now it's time to ignite the tinder I have my fasting and I'm going to take a piece of birch bark because maybe I can catch a flame with it and as you can see here we have our birch bark spread out you don't want to have too much birch bark on one spot because it will kill off the flame so make sure you spread it out and yeah now let's try to ignite the flashed hinder

so as you can see this piece of birch bark caught some fire and now you have a flame which you can work with and you can extend the flame a little bit more now we also can use the grass that we have collected earlier as a flame extender just laid loosely on the last hinder here

yeah guys so this was the episode how to make fire with cattail fluff I think it's good to know especially because for example in wintertime and it's cold and maybe there's a lot of snow and you don't find another dry tinder you can take cattail fluff because usually it's dry at the inside and cattle is actually one of my favorite Survival plans because you can eat them the route is edible the leaves are edible the stock is edible and I have made a video here at the side where you can see how i roasted cattail roots over a fire and it tasted very good like corn actually so guys I want to thank you for watching if you like this video share it with your friends and if you want to know what gear that i'm using check out my amazon store link in the description
