now one thing I really like to carry on the trapline with me is I just carry these fence staples that you buy to a hardware store

and then I also carry a pair of fencing pliers like these mow makers or more makers here because it makes it really easy to pry those nails out and pound them in and that is a great great way to set want these Coon cuffs up and I carry him usually with a leader attached to him of steel cable so that if I want to I can just attach it wrap it around something but when you've got a tree like this that you can't just say wrap it around it makes it a lot better if you can just take that snap link and nail it right to a tree so I'll just hang on to this for another trap I'll take this snap link here I'll nail it right to this tree at the base of it this is pretty loose that he's not going to pull this thing out of the ground and if he does he's got a huge drag he's got to pull the side him now we just got to set up our Coon cuff and that's simple so to get this set ready we're just gonna squeeze down on this dude and set our trigger that's a really really easy trap to set for the most part can be a little bit painful in cold weather but again it's not too difficult it's not that thing you want it pretty sensitive but not too sensitive because you don't want the thing going off when it's not supposed to either you want him to have to pull on that thing to get it set off no you're just shoving the ground that's the simplicity of these things you shove them in the dirt and they're ready to go yeah a nice little wine with half corn half dog food fill it right to the top cuz they're gonna eat it till it's gone anyway go a little bit on the bank around it get some fish oil and just kind of squirt it around the area down by the water just to kind of bring them in and that's all you got to do and you're ready to go okay so here we are at that set we got on that post right here net been to the creek where those tracks we're out in the sand big big Coon in there beautiful look at the pelt on that thing is a gorgeous gorgeous Coon I'll get him harvested get him back to the trapper's cabin
