hi folks and welcome to new episode my name is Mike and today I want to show you how you can clean up a rusty blade like this one here so stay tuned well to be honest

normally my blades don't look like this here but if you use your knife extensively out in the wilderness it might can happen that you don't have time all the tools to care about your knife so let's get right into it if you years ago I bought me this and it's called the super eraser it's made in the USA like most of the good stuff and as you can tell for the looks of it it's well used over the years and this is some sort of rubbery thing there is special designed to get rid of the rust on blades and I'll show you how you can do it to start off make sure you have some sort of kitchen towel what have you at hand that you can use because this super eraser is crumbling into small pieces and you might have to do it all over the table also be careful even when this blade is rusty it can be very sharp and very dangerous so I haven't cleaned up this blade because of this video I wanted to get it rusty assist so that I can show you how you can remove rust from the blade that you may have forgot in the car or anywhere else the backpack what-have-you so taking this eraser doesn't matter which side up down from whatever you have just any part of it and do like you are raising a pencil you can feel the rest getting off switch it a little turn it around turn the razor get more pressure ayat and drop all the bad stuff away well with this heavy rust here you may have to rub a little longer than normally but let's get me this one here off right now as you can see it's getting shiny again and the rust spots are going away which is a good thing it's getting way better right now look at that all this bad rust if you were up long enough with this super eraser I try to get a link in the description box down below check it out why you can get this super razor I think it was I don't know five bucks three bucks was very cheap look at that that was I don't know five to ten minutes with the super eraser

look how shiny the blade is well those spots they are staying of course but this gives a nice used look and gives the mouth character as I think so folks because this is an abrasive you have Tulln your blade the edge with this erasing so the next step is very easy and again it's good to have this towel to get yourself a sharpening stone and this is a two sided stone and give it a nice sharpening

and that is also helping getting rid of this rust just sharpen your blade the whole entire edge because this is a Scandinavian grind you can lay it directly flat on this scan the edge and go what's down go over it little pressure

turn it around on the edge a little pressure and let the stone do the chop so once you are finished with sharpening your knife and cleaned up most of the mess you did it should look like this well of course this is called patina which is on the blade there but all the bad rust is gone see that and that is my old trusty stropping board and again this is no sharpening video not by any mean but if you lay it directly on the bevel

you're polishing the whole bevel the whole flat surface which was covered in rust before don't overdo it with the pressure just a little bit give it a nice strokes and this gives you a nice shiny blade look at that can you remember how rusty it was before try to get a picture somewhere here for you guys so you can see the change from the rusty blade to this one and to prevent this knife for getting that rusty again take the good old ballast doll put a little on a piece of cloth just a few drops doesn't have to be that much rub it over your blade you can also use this for t-handle give the handle a nice coating of oil don't forget the back end look how beautiful she is again razorsharp no bedrest all increased and ready for the next use in the outdoors so I hope you enjoyed this video thanks for watching see you next time my Kent
