hi I'm Lily no you're not Lily Wu hi my name is mike today I have a special guest Lily survival Lily on YouTube is showing you how you can strike fair assume rod with a big knife stay tuned hi I'm Lily and today i want to show you how to strike a firesteel using a big knife and today i want to ignite some birch bark so lily developed a very unique method of using a big knife and yes strike ferid a very very special way and it works really really good okay first I'm scraping off some tiny little shavings of the birch bark birch bark is burning great because it contains a lot of oils

now going to set the little shavings to the edge of this log here and then I take my fire steel and set it right into the tinder I gotta set the tip onto the word and use the knife as some kind of leverage and this gives me a lot of stability

so she is locking the tip and resting it on top of the log and yeah she has this downward motion

scrape along the fearsome rod the hands and the handle out of the way it's much easier to use this technique that clearly shows right here then doing it the other way as known usual as you can see here when you push the whole knife down either your hand this in your way and you can't use the full length of the firesteel will smack the amber with the blade and check it out with the second strike that's not good it's also very unstable and you may destroy your tinder bundle and throw it away and just parks won't land where it should be
