well guys the hunt turned up pretty much zero today so I'm going to eat some food that's in here you know I I've got these Araucana eggs here for my chickens americana eggs and a firm utilizing those in here it's food that I'm raising out here it's not something ongoing buying although I did bring some store-bought supplies in here as well you know different types of flours and sugars things like that things that would have been traded along the frontier and for the purpose of mobility you know in this experiment you could carry live animals like chickens with you and one of the things that people don't realize about chickens as you know the egg is nature's perfect food every vitamin nutrient mineral fat and protein that you need to survive is in an egg everybody says Oh high cholesterol this and hardening of their arteries that and blockage every arteries and you know what you're going to die from something sooner or later and in this day and age we think we're going to die from everything so everybody goes organic and all of this crap and I'm telling you right now if you can find eggs or you can raise something that will give you eggs eggs are nature's perfect food and to all those people that say they're not that's what I say okay so do I want to make a mess with this egg and get a bunch of pans dirty and stuff no I don't so what I'm going to do is I'm going to make myself some sweet corn biscuits this morning or a sweet corn biscuit to go with this egg I'm just going to boil this egg on the stove you know I've got a cup of water right here on the boil and when it starts below I'm going to drop this egg in there I've actually got a little more water in there than what I need so I'm going to dump some of that water back into my container because it only needs to be you know a little bit deeper than the egg and it's going to be fine so I'm actually going to pour a little bit of this water back into my containers not to waste it not that I can't go to the creek and get as much as I want because I can but I just don't need that much water so I'll go and put that back up on top of the stove to boil and I'm going to get some mix ready to go with this egg to make a corn muffin you know just in a pan on top here so I've got again and I've got this ziploc bag

and let's say to clean these things out and use them over and over again I'm going to pull my bin out here it's got some of month supply in here got my wheat flour it's got my buttermilk cornmeal mix in it and this is the self-rising cornmeal mix of this stuff I'll show you the brand here this is Martha white I think I bought this a Krogh or something like that but anyway you go and close this flap over here real quick so the sun's not shining right in my face or I shouldn't say Sun because it's a cloudy day but it's only about 45 degrees out so it's really not too bad so what I'm going to do with this and again like I said before a lot of stuff that I do I can't give you exact recipes for it but something I've made a lot of times because it's just stuff that I guess out okay but I'm just going to pour a little bit of this in here I'm you know I'm only trying to make pretty much one sweet biscuit here so our sweet bread I'm only trying to make one piece of sweet bread here so I'm not really going to put much in there at all and before I get that ready to mix with the water I'm going to buy my cake a brown sugar that I've got under the bunk in another container right here another ziplock bag and I think I'm going to take this sugar and I'm going to go ahead and put some water in my scalp cup here that I've got in my haversack that's my 8 ounce cup with my what I call my Scout bottle and I'm going to go ahead put just a little bit of water in there not a ton fact I think I just put too much in there to tell you the truth I'm going to dump some of that back in I only want a couple ounces because I want to make a pretty thick batter out of this

so only want a couple ounces of water here to begin with all right okay now I need my spoon again I had it with me out there in the woods today case I want some hot cocoa while I was sitting around I'm going to go ahead and take this sugar and mix it into water now kind of like I did with the salt in the heart attack the other day she's going to Glenda's all that sugar into the water so that when I mix it with the self-rising cornflour I won't be mixing the sugar in the flour be mixing the sugar water in the flour that's kind of important I think when you do this stuff probably got more than enough water in here so I'm going to mix this kind of slow in this bag I'm just going to put a little of it in there at a time leave a little bit of a gap screw some of the air out and then seal it and then I'm going to mix it real good in here see what we get like I said if I got a little bit too much water I can always add flour to it just going to make more than what I really wanted to eat have a little more sugar water to that again this stuff guys it's trial and error it's kind of kind of if you don't have mixing exact mixing directions or exact mixing tools you just kind of guess and if you make a little bit too much and you got some food for the trail that day or for a snack that night or whatever case maybe make sure you seal your bag up good because I just spilled something out another seat it's not that big a deal okay so when I squeeze that batter into the pan it's coming in there almost like a pancake type consistency I let it spread out and rise up flip it over that's going to be our cake to go with our egg this morning all right guys here's wore out you can hear that stove thumping it out and start to get some bubbles in the water now not boiling yet but start to get some bubbles on it and this drop best air drop Brad made out of corn meal and cane sugar is looking pretty good might be ready to flip here shortly now we're getting some water boys got our water boiling up good here get that egg cooked piece of bread looking pretty good here are a little cornmeal bread oh man I'm a dandy fine meal right there you live on a lot less than you think you can people in United States tend to overeat every day okay I went ahead and flipped over my corn cake here button the egg boil just a little bit longer put some water on force my chocolate this is high living right here fellas high living find somepony to put on that corn bread basket man old man old man I think I went to heaven all right guys again with the hot chocolate but hot chocolate goes good with everything [Music]

get all our boiled egg here if we got it done

feels like feels pretty bouncy bad thing about hard-boiled eggs peel hate that other than that there are no muss no fuss easy to cook and they don't dirty a bunch of dishes find myself an air pocket here I could try to peel that right off there we go here we found it okay not bad racing off in the water over here kind of using this pan I cooked in for a plate take this egg out bury it with any other trash are leftover foodstuffs that I have later of course if you were any place where you had bears and things like that you want to do that kind of stuff

well camp obviously got this piece of cornbread sitting over on the drying rack it's real flaky oh man yeah I'm here I was real good got this off GSI salt and pepper shaker that was in my MSR Siegel got season salt on one side and pepper on the other go ahead and salt that egg up pepper that egg up a couple bites of food there but I'll tell you what man lots of vitamins minerals protein fat like I said you know it's nature's perfect food the egg and one thing I've read about eggs is you know I was going to tell you guys this during this video you know the last thing that happens when a chicken lays an egg is they put a foam on the egg that protects bacteria from entering the egg and when you buy an egg in a store or something like that that bacteria or that bacterial barrier has been washed off the egg people clean eggs when they bring them in the house or usually when they take them you know the stores having to have to be cleaned off so people don't think that's gross but that protective barrier will keep that good for a long period of time if the eggs not being sat on I've heard of eggs being good up to a year actually as long as you don't wash that foam off once you wash the film off that egg you shorten the lifespan dramatically so eggs in a survival situation perfect food perfect food and

yes I'm gonna dump my best getting my hot chocolate oh man mm-hmm glad are sitting in here with me slurping mmm Wow oh it's a meal fit for a king right there now get everything in the other leg I got that corn meal you're going to get lots of carbohydrates out of that look five-second rule just real good little quick meal doesn't make a big mess got to clean up and you can cook this stuff in camp just as easy as I cooked it here on a camp bar tables and work out dandy fine keep your manna eat on my bunkie on floor

I appreciate you guys joining me for dinner tonight

real good

you
