evening guys Dave can brittleness Outfitters home the Pathfinder school but what we do today is uh got my pack on here I'm out kind of a pond area out here I've got a few arrows in my quiver here and I know there were some comments on the video that deal with Steve Davis we were using the sling bow for fishing people were asking about how we set that up so what I'm going to do is I'm gonna do a quick video and show you my setup and give you a walkthrough of how to make the same setup so you don't know how to throw fish with your sling bow stay tuned okay guys I've pulled my sling bow out of the critter get her pocket thanks for that Steve that's just hilarious I still can't get with that anyway what I've done is I've had a L bracket welded solid to the bottom of the frame on this slingshot and L bracket has a hole drilled in it doesn't affect anything if you want to use this in normal fashion it's like a regular slingshot doesn't affect you at all if you want to use that as a sling bow doesn't affect you at all what you can do with this now what I've done is bear in mind we have this L bracket here now what I've done here is I've taken a piece of one-inch PVC it's got a threaded plug on the end very similar to Steve's fishing kit that's just epoxy it into the end of that tube it has a cap on the other end that cap has a 5/16 bolt that I've drilled through and ran it through there and then I've got a bolt on the backside of that to hold it in place and I've epoxy dit it's just got some orange tape wrapped around it then I put a lock washer on there and another nut now this other nut should probably be replaced with a wing nut all right okay so if we take this end cap and we put it back on our one inch piece of PVC this becomes our real

so all we have to do is take this nut off and like I said this should probably be replaced with a wing nut we put it on our bracket just like this and screw the nut to the backside and I usually just use my multi-tool to tighten that up with or just tightening down my hand either one will work for this demonstration I was going to tighten it up by hand a wing net would be better for that situation now what I have is I have a reel on the front of my bow very similar and exactly the same concept as the pathfinder pocket fisherman I have a piece of rubber here inner tube that I've just got on the front to cover up a swivel that's hooked to my bow fishing line just a normal stainless steel swivel from any Walmart Kmart whatever all right now let's talk about another thing with this kit real quick because I have a hollow tube here I can use that to store things in now we've already talked about the fact that you can make your arrows out of anything in the woods and just use like duct tape or feathers so what I do is this is not glued together that gives me a storage container and inside that storage container I've just got one other fishing Arrowhead that can be hot glued with this archers hot glue which you just melt with a lighter a fire or whatever using for an epoxy and I can put this other head on any stick with duct tape feathers and I'm ready to rock and roll that just gives me a place to store a couple extra items I could even put a broadhead in here if I wanted to a two blade broad head for regular bow hunting with the sling bow put that back together I'm ready to rock and roll now this line all this line is is Mason's line you can buy this at any hardware store or lumberyard and it comes in a multitude of colors this happens to be natural you can get this in a hot-pink if that's what you want to use or like a lime green like a high-visibility green and that can be a good thing because there's another mod to this bow fishing setup I'm going to show you tomorrow how to set this up or fly-fishing and we're going to use this and it'll be better if we had some lighter colored line on here but for now we're going to use what we got okay so let's talk real quick about our arrows let's first talk about a manufactured arrow okay what we've done to it and we went over this a little bit with Steve in the video that we shot together what we've done is we've taken a regular arrow just like we use it to sling bow we've epoxy a golf tee in the back of it and it has a field point on the front now the modification just field point is it has a barb on it right here and all we've done is we've cut the spring out of a clothespin and use that in between the arrow and just and the shaft or the point now we've taken a piece of line here and this is just Bank line tied a prusik knot here and a person on the other end and we've tied it a little bit shorter than the length of the arrow so that when we pull it tight it rides the full length of this arrow and here is an example of the same thing with just a hardwood dowel with a regular fishing arrow point epoxy to the front it has the taut line on it all the way across and it has duct tape or feathers other than that this is just like anything that you could make out in the woods yourself carrying these points is the key inside that fishing kit in that Hollow

put a couple these points in there they cost a couple bucks apiece but they're painting the butt to reproduce and that's what we've been talking about carrying things that are hard to reproduce and take calories to reproduce in the wild so remember that ok so what happens is you take this swivel that you've got tied on the end of your line and you connect it to this taut line string that you have on your arrow and you clip it shut just like that drop a little bit of line off of there and this rides up and down your shaft alright so that when you put this in here and you draw your arrow back your swivels at the front so nothing affects the flight of this arrow and as the arrow comes out of your sling bow the swivel rides to the back and allows your arrow fly true and I'll demonstrate that for you right now okay so what we've got is we've got our dart or our arrow loaded in our sling bow and we've got our swivel connected to the front of our arrow it's like we talked about square this thing up forth just like we talked about alright so that when we draw this back it rides back on the arrow just like that it never gets in your way so when you shoot it just like that your line comes off and this becomes your reel just like with the pocket fishes yet

you

okay now we've got our manufactured era with our golf tee glued in the back of it and bear in mind that these arrows are much lighter and fly much faster than a wooden arrow unless it was made out of cane but the error that I use is made out of a heavy dowel and I want to demonstrate this to you right now how this flies you

you

you

guys I appreciate you joining me tonight with final modifications of the slingbow setup for bow fishing Steve's going to be manufacturing some of this stuff very shortly I think or sale on my website just wanted to kind of go over this with you today and show you exactly how it's made so if you want to make it yourself you can do so I'm Dave Canterbury pulling on South Flair's archery home of the Pathfinder school and I appreciate your support thank you
