morning guys I'm Dave Canterbury the Pathfinder school out here outside my cabin at the Pathfinder school the actual log home cabin that I live in and I thought I would do a couple do-it-yourself projects out here on a porch in the back I wanted to show you a couple quick things that you can make real simple for archery I had quite a few questions yesterday I shot video yesterday on the primal gear unlimited compact folding survival boat and I got some very good responses to that video it went over very well and the bow shoots very very well and very impressive this bow part of the question I am yesterday were you know how are you carrying your arrows in the woods while you're shooting targets well a lot of times what I'll do is I've got just a piece of schedule 20 PVC with an end cap on it and I've just wrapped it in duct tape and painted kind of camouflage and it's only like inch and a half diameter now allows me to carry four to six arrows of field points or a couple arrows with broadheads and I just drill holes in and tied PVC to or a paracord in there and I've got just a gun strap on there for our shoulder quiver or I can take that off and make that loop a little bigger and hang it off my belt that's what I was doing yesterday so that gives you one option for carrying arrows into the woods that's common man cheap and easy you get a little rattle out of it you can hear that but you can put some foam inside there or some felt and take care of a lot of that around the inner lip of that piece of PVC and the only problem that I have the Quivers when I'm hunting is you know you get this thing sticking up above your back and it's constantly hitting on trees and limbs that you're ducking under while you're kind of bobbing and weaving and stalking through the woods vines hanging brush and things like that so generally if I'm huntin I like to carry my arrows on my bow in what's called a limb quiver and there's a lot of limb Quivers out on the market they're pretty expensive you can buy the plastic cheapy ones usually for about 30 bucks a lot of the leather ones go up around the 50 60 dollar range and most of them are made for pretty wide limbs they're made for modern recurve bows and take down long bows and things with wider limbs and this because this pose made out of fiberglass and aircraft aluminum the limbs aren't real wide they don't need to be that's part of the beauty of this thing is how compact and light and small it is it only weighs two and a half pounds it's not that much to pack so what I want to show you today is how to make a real simple set of limb Quivers for this too old for of your arrows while you're hunting and walking through the woods the arrows will be attached to your bow and you can remove it very easily and store it and it weighs virtually almost nothing and cost less than a dollar or two to make stay with me I'm going to show you how to do that right now okay guys so what I've got here on this table is the things that we need to make these set of limb Quivers what do we need we need a set of flip-flops okay these happen to be camouflage bonus dollar ninety-nine at Walmart on sale for the pair this will easily make a set of lint waivers probably two sets to be honest with you very easily you can get one set out of each flip-flop if you want to do a little bit more cutting and things like that but I'm going to show you how to make the set out of a pair and then you'll have some stuff left over that you could use to make another set if you want it to as well so what we're going to do is the tools that are required to make this very simple prepare a good shears or exacto knife a marker some strap ties and it drills alright that's all you need the drill bit you want to be a bit smaller many arrows that you plan on carrying in the quiver so I would make it for the smallest diameter

Carbon areas are you going to carry even if you're going to carry wood or aluminum or make your own arrows they'll fit in there as well and that's the beauty of this bow it'll shoot any arrow it doesn't matter so back to this limb quiver what we're going to do is I've already got one of them made right here and this is as simple as it gets what we're going to do with this is we're going to draw this pattern on the other flip-flop and basically it's just like a little mushroom

with ears on it here on this where there still would be on the mushroom that's got four holes and four slits for your arrows and it has a slit in the middle to go over your lid and you're going to tighten that down with a strap time then you can slide it off and slide it on when you want to very very simple design so what we're going to do is we're going to draw that pattern on this flip-flop cut it out drill our holes make our slits and then we will put it on the bow and show you how it works so the first thing we're going to do is we're just going to draw the same pattern on this one that we have on the other one

pretty simple we'll just sketch it out real fast and then we'll cut it out with the shears okay once I have that mushroom cut out I'm just going to go back through here real quick and clip the corners off of it so they rounded off or angle off I should say at about a 45 just like that real simple shears make that quick and easy then I need to transfer the holes in the same place that I have them on this and I can pretty much I ball that I know where they're at and you want to step them in far enough when you do this that you've got room for a slip because that's where your arrow is going to slide into so basically just look at eyeballing this thing I could put those holes about where they need to be and then all I have to do is drill out those holes

once I have those holes drilled then I'm just going to take my shears and clip that out just like that straighten the front ones and straight from the side just like this and then I'm going to cut this thing right at the center and I'm going to go a little bit beyond this line not much just a little bit and it should match the other one pretty good and now we're ready to put it on our boat for the first time and that's how we're going to fit so if our bows being held like this we want our arrows on the outside I'm shooting this bow right-handed so I want my arrows over here out of the way so what I'm going to do is I'm going to take one of these flip flops and I'm going to shove it all the way on there as far as it'll go just like that and then I'm just going to take a strap tie wrap it right around this dude just like this and cinch it down basically as hard as I can as close to the limb as possible and cinch it down as hard as I can cinch it just like that and then I'm just going to cut the edge of that strap tie off it's done now put turn the bow over and do the same thing with this side now in a matter of a couple minutes there I have made myself I set a limb clear because now what I can do is I can take that bow slide my arrow right into that slot that I created come up to the top and do the same thing just like this alright you can see that that's almost perfect for a full length arrow that link of that riser is almost perfect to put a full length arrow in there and I've got four arrows so I can do the same thing four times work that right down inside slot just like that offset my feathers a little bit now it doesn't matter really whether you put your points to the front or the back or I should say up or down I like to put mine up figuring that if something happens where I trip and fall those points are going to be in front of me and not behind me where they could poke into me and what you're doing basically is by putting arrows in this you're adding stability to this quiver you're ready to go and when you're done you can put the arrow back in there to carry the bow very simple design very effective very easy and doesn't cost much and now I can carry four arrows on this bow all the time whether they be broad heads field points fishing arrows a combination of all whatever the case may be and I have a limb quiver on my bow when I'm done with this and I want to take my boat down it'll slide off very easy I'm going to show you that right now okay guys so when we're done shooting our bow and we want to take it back down and we don't want these limb Quivers on here anymore we don't want to cut these straps every time or these strapped eyes and have to keep putting them back on and we use a strap ties so what we're going to do is we're going to unstring this bow which is very simple the same way we strung it we just go and reverse and you can see those limbs straighten right out has some questions about that yesterday - they're fiberglass they're not going to hold or take a set like a wooden bow get my string folded back up so I can store it

at that point I can just take these limb Quivers and slide them right off the limb just like that and set them to the side and when I'm ready to start shooting again or when I'm ready to set my bow up again before I string the bow I can just come in here again and put these limp Quivers right back on and they're friction fit just like that I kind of like the camouflage side up but doesn't really matter just like that and then go back again and string my bow put my top loop on first get my bottom loop where it needs to be tuck it in pull on the riser seat the string double-check and knock points my limb Quivers already on and I'm ready to hunt again okay guys well I'm Dave camera at the five fires who I appreciate you joining me out here for this little do-it-yourself project on how to make a set of limb Quivers from flip-flops this will work for just about any bow it doesn't have to go on this survival bow necessarily it can go on any bow but it's a very very good design to use with the survival mode because it comes on and off so easily when you want to pack this bow up and store your backpack you can just take these limb flippers off they're not going to take up a lot of room and they don't weigh anything I'm Dave carry with Pathfinder school I thank you for your views your support I thank you for anything you do for me for my school for my family I'll be back another video as soon as I can thanks guys

you
