Jeremie Nara here on a scout he's went up a little ways stalking something he thought he saw been gone about 20 minutes

there's a dead tulip poplar laying right here on the ground and it's become a nursery tree because it's that alive one coming about him and loved it here but it's got several dead branches on it okay tulip poplar isn't very very good friction firewood so I'm gonna cut a couple pieces off of this there's a great big dead chunk at the end sticking up about eight feet in the air that I know I can make a full-on bow drill set from I've got surefire in my bag no question about it whenever Jeremy I decide to go down for the night you know and bed in we got your fire now is the time to practice those skills and own no skills so that when you have to have them you've got them in your back pocket that thing is blackest night they no doubt that'll make a coal uh crested his little no earlier Sina decent-looking gray squirrel playing around on some fallen oaks on the hillside there and tried to get a little closer to get a shot but he screwed up into the brush and I think he made his way around the hill I mean here's something sounds like it's cutting up on the hill now so so far no squirrel for the stewpot I got some salt cured bacon we think when split us out a fireboard out of this bigger piece of to a pop I'm sticking up right here head back somewhere we're going to bed down we got about an hour daylight and get some stuff together and see if we can play with the person fire tonight so we thank Jeremy holed up in this cave for the nightmare I think it looks great all right man well let's go inside all right Jeremy so your suggestion is back here looks like I was looking around the cave you're Dave and I just happen to notice this water drop on the floor I think it'd make a great natural fire reflector and then of course you know take a long time to kiss the sandstone up but this area right here we can put a couple of good thick leaf beds in build a fire here we wouldn't really lose that much heat because you know you got the back to catch everything and the when we first came in the cave we actually noticed there was a constant draft coming in from this entrance over here to the lab mr. Neil actually get us out of that yeah we got a blockage wall they're basically in a little half wall blocking this so yeah I agree man I think that's the ticket so um what do you think you want to gather up some of these leaves first and kind of kick them over that way and then get a fire started before gets dark I think that's a great idea good all right so I'm getting a wall built right here and that's where I'm going to put you know these dry leaves in here and all these sticks you know I'm going to put them over here loosely like this so that when the time comes I can move them over my flame and I'm just using the littlest ones right now because kindling comes first obviously I'm just putting those right here moving that leaf litter I can use that to make myself a little bit more dry leaf litter here okay now we're getting the point we're ready to try to rock and roll this bad boy keep all of our stuff close so we can use it get ourselves a good flat spot to work with here I've got a whole pocketful of dry tinder here from today this is gonna be my bird nest and this is what I'm gonna have to process now to get this operation rocking and rolling no one really doing is trying to increase the surface area of all of this dried cedar bark so that will flame up easier when the time comes and I'm just going to roll it into a ball here punch myself a little Center out to put my call into and set it to the side I'm gonna waste any of that I want to keep it all together I can okay now let's go laughs to be the next question

pretty much auctioneer till you look at little pack stove getting your water up off the coals like that the mailman it makes a difference because you got that oxygen flow underneath there mm-hmm what that water is already boiling related extra time it took me to go get more water that's my high water boiling Stoppers of coffee Chino yeah man I need to get some salt I wanna I've got some stuff that Ryan's mom brought me that's actually a smoked pork side but it's not salt it's just smoke mm-hmm so if you open it you really have to refrigerate it mm-hmm but if I could find something more if I could find some dad have you ever done any sugar curing no I had a ham done that way and it was good pretty good yeah and you just hung in the basement really and then when with you we cut all that outer layer and then with there wasn't like the salt because you'd have to go through the easy fire didn't have to go through the soaking or anything like that see what tough stuff to cut no you wouldn't piece of that no yeah well I go past up if you cook it I mean let me do silly that's kind of what I was thinking too you excited by your new blanket I'll go pack one yeah I'm actually see how warm it is first it is this because you need if it's warm you know that's great yeah this a lightweight blanket yeah I mean it's a real lightweight lighting it's only a twin what's your Hudson Bay the coin here's a tool like my Whitney is a queen okay you're Whitney's queen yeah that's what I think Maya I think my world is either queen or king is a huge thing yeah

so I see how that's my blanket yeah and that's what I'm saying I'm I'm kind of kind of light of God me I get a good deal on it and I didn't want to try out that I'll pack anyway especially since I heard it will five times warmer or something like I've heard it's a lot when we're supposed to be warmer than wolves so says what's that honey now I'm anxious to try it out and to burn the freaking fat out of this pan here that matters for anything again the most they said titanium is that well them yes I don't know if it's titanium Aramis it's a GSI yes i I've had it forever works great I just notice more right here right now for sure oh yeah I think this is hosting one think it's a great spot this is a killer spot is Kate over here wouldn't have to keep this a spot line later on yeah how'd you I know at one point you're talking about doing I like it maybe a small series miniseries or something is this is this the spot year hunters as far as talking about here Journal the cave you need yeah this is a spot I was talking about what one even here pretty easy I gotta be oh yeah no problemo but if you put some kind of a half wall up right there something you cannot block everything you know and then made a raised bed in here have some kind talk to hear stuff that you know stuffed underneath that wood leaves give you insulation but how to raise the bed off this gravel that's you know you were talking earlier about the fact people to understand you can just walk into a cave and plop down you can be warned this ground was cold as crap from the conception if he's laying it straight on it is a this'll is harder to rock oh yeah yeah a lot of people know them and it's like I said they do think you can just come in to to a cave your natural shelter and hey look I got a roof over my head but then understand I mean even right here I mean we we step back out of the way because you had you know the breeze coming through a pretty steady you know luckily here there isn't but you know people just don't don't understand you got two potent killers right there will take no time at all no wouldn't not say this case probably you know because of the because it's a three cave you know it doesn't stay at a constant temperature there's no doubt in my mind now it's me over than it is outside no doubt but not that one this is the you can these four boys will be freaking toasty that have you have you thought any more about some of the more future primitive classes I guess yeah I want to set up an interview for a second half of years but we got the brain handed class coming up so that's going to be you know a little bit more to the primitives that I'd like to do something more as far as making self bows making arrows maybe even make an atlatl to get Jaime down Michigan and do a class like that but I've got to set that up to the second half of the year right now my schedules getting so over overbooked well this year's going to be I got a kind of wait until mid year to figure out well but once I get through about April then I'll be able to start looking into second half of the year I think but I've got so much private stuff going on right now yeah my dad was telling me today that this thing that I'm doing so I know if I told you this or not but I'm doing a thing with the New England Patriots yeah that's definitely a go now so that's no time yet for that and I've got a private class the Hoosier National Forest and a couple months I got to do I may take you to that one okay but yeah I'm good oh so much stuff going on in Michigan Deana or a couple weeks from then you've got a lot of stuff going on so it's going to be a busy busy yeah that's good to hear yeah it's good he's a bit of always good to be busy yeah you never complain about being busy yes for sure easy killer giver till then over there ask you my freakin man please cooperate picks up your mobile shirt look at it yeah well fire and Frogger in there none yeah I'm thinking the who's dry socks I haven't sweated in all day let me out of a packet over here but bagger calling my name

start right now that's one thing I always try to make sure of is I have a spare pair it get dry socks especially for like at night because I'm sweating in them all day night comes you stick your feet in something you'll be freezin instantly think you're gonna sleep in dry socks or none at all why I always figure oh yeah but these uh I'll pocket socks have been pretty handy so far heaven yeah yeah they're good socks for sure I've been wearing these wool powers I'm tired of it nor the are they I'll pack as well or no the wool powers are made our sheep wool but these these heavy alpaca socks and I have from Brian's mom er the bottom so we're supposed to be getting these for our website pretty soon so I'm hoping that's going to happen cuz I'm not impressed with them and I think people will like them for sure and they're not that expensive I mean there's cheap as any wool socks probably 18 20 bucks a pair for good thick-headed good sock like a winter socks

I'm sure there's a fuck I'm sure there's a something here just kind of put me in fun

well yeah that's head I figure out what it is yet don't you say that's actually what I was doing here earlier I was trying to tuck the leaves up under here I can't find the rocks and stuff I said if I don't get it down through nurses yeah they find that works out here I know it's here somewhere not bad that's right nothing terrible not too awful not too awful ugly I think this is gonna be a cozy night right here buddy

I might get this leak pillow squared away boo boo B's set and pretty take in I think it's safe to say that this is pretty positive that going out with a wool blanket and the winner can be done you
