morning folks Dave Canterbury the Pathfinder school what I want to do this morning is I want to have a quick discussion about shotguns and I want to introduce you to the Chiappa arms Pathfinder Edition triple-threat series shotgun so let's talk about shotguns for a minute obviously I'm a huge believer in the simplicity of a single-shot 12-gauge H&R New England firearms those things are beyond the shadow of a doubt great shotguns and they're inexpensive for the common man we have worked with short laying arms to make several adaptors that were sub-caliber adaptors for that shotgun series and will fit any break open single shot shotgun for the most part with a 3-inch chamber for 22 long-rifle

nine-millimeter 38 special 357 Magnum I believe 45 long colt 45 ACP 12-gauge to 20 gauge 12-gauge to 410 gauge and then we have rifle adapters in those calibers then we have a short set of adapters called a pathfinder set or a pathfinder adapter set that has four ten 12 gauge two four ten twelve gauge to 20 gauge 12 gauge to 22 long rifle and a 3-inch rifled adapter 8 inch rifle adapters will give you that reach out there that short three inch adapter is really good for trap line use things like that we have recently come out with the 209 shotgun primer adapter which turns that single shot 12-gauge into a muzzle loader at that point you put that breech plug in put it to a nine shotgun primer in there and close it up and you've got a muzzle odubel single-shot 12-gauge there is currently a 17 HMR that's about to come out I will have after shot show we're testing as well for this weapon an eight inch adapter and 17 HMR that ammunition right now is more common and easier to get ahold of even than 22 rifle so we've got an adapter coming out for that as well with short lane arms now let's take that concept and bring it forward

okay let's talk about shotguns in general and shotgun hunting it's pretty much at least in Ohio and quite a few other states you're only allowed to have three shells in your gun why you're waterfowl hunting or deer hunting so if you're hunting deer with slugs you're allowed to have three shells in the gun if you are not includes the one in the chambers and only allowed three shells in the gun it's not three in the tube one in the chamber it's three period same thing with duck hunting and many other states have the same laws so a pump-action shotgun becomes critical in a situation like that so you get those three quick shots but what if you could get something that had all three shots that you can shoot in less than 1.5 seconds instead of having to shoot pump shoot pump shoot pump all you had to do is pull the trigger as fast as you could pull it it would see three rounds how much of an advantage would that give you deer hunting or duck honey now let's compound that one step further most pump action shotguns or all pump action shotguns only going to have pretty much a single barrel so you have one choke option that you can put in that gun if it has removable like REM chokes and things like that so whatever choke option you choose those three shots are going to be shot with the same choke option now if you have an over/under now you're getting closer to what we're talking about because you can have one choke on the upper barrel one choke on the lower barrel and you can modify your choke for shooting conditions and that's important for things like waterfowl hunting when you're hunting with a wing gun because you may have a shot that's closed when the Ducks come in and as soon as you spook them with the first shot and they fly off your next one or two shots could be consecutively further away another advantage of being able to have multiple barrels with multiple chokes you can match your chokes to the shooting condition stay with me guys I got something to show you [Applause]

okay folks this is the Chiappa Arms triple-threat Pathfinder edition 12-gauge as a Pathfinder logo on the walnut stock it is a break open triple barrel 12-gauge shotgun it has three removable REM chokes in the barrel so that you can match your chokes to your desired shooting condition it has three inch chambers

you can shoot anything up to three inch magnums out of this gun any combination of shot or slug that you choose to shoot you can also put the two nine shotgun primer adapters in here and then you would have three barrels muzzle-loaded another big advantage over a single barrel H&R 12-gauge one nice thing about this gun barrel length is fairly short so this becomes a really good brush gun a really good guy gun it's a big enough caliber to take down bear if needs be and you've got three shots and I mean when I say as fast as you can pull the trigger I mean that fast as fast as you can pull the trigger so that makes it very advantageous because it will out shoot any pump-action shotgun that only has three shells in it beyond a shadow of a doubt it's going to be faster it's going to be more functional it's going to be less moving parts and less of a hassle a couple really nice things about this gun is one is that it is triple barrel obviously but I'm not a good thing I like about this gun is it's a no tulle takedown you pull out this lever let me see if I can get this dude off of here real quick for you it's stiff because it's new pop the handguard off break the barrel open and drops right off now I've got three open tubes makes for very very easy field maintenance very easy field maintenance putting it back together it's pretty much exactly the same thing make sure that you get it locked in snap the handguard back in place put your sling back on you're ready to go now let's talk about how this thing fires okay obviously if it only has one trigger it's going to fire the barrels in a consecutive order it resets every time you open and shut the gun it fires in left right upper order that can be important for you if you're choking this gun with different chokes can also be important if you're using this gun for some type of home or camp defense situation let's talk in theories for a minute 45 acp 1 45 acp 1 6 shot another 6 shot just a regular no choke situation over here full choke full choke now intruder first shot 45 ACP center mass no muss no fuss nothing around me is going to get damaged or nothing around the predator or intruder is going to be damaged still coming I have two more shots as fast as I can pull the trigger a six shot right to the pelvic area destroy something's pelvis it's not going any further to full choke 6 shot loads three shots as fast as I can pull the trigger guys nothing wrong with that for hunting nothing wrong with that for guiding nothing wrong with that for home defense one gun does it all this is shortly adaptors just perfect very easy operation gun weighs 8 pounds gun weighs 8 pounds less than a German Mauser less than something like a Mosin Nagant but heavy duty enough to get the job done on any game in North America I can mix and match chokes and loads for anything in North America that I want to hunt with this gun and get three shots off as fast as I can pull the trigger [Applause]

okay this triple-threat 12-gauge comes with its own hardcase is a travel case made to go through airport security it holds the gun it holds any extra chokes it comes with a few extra chokes with the gun comes with the choke wrench comes with the t-bar wrench for the back end of the gun if you're into that you can take this off this slides out and twists off and you have a pistol grip not my thing some people are into that so it's got that adaptability if you want it so the hardcase comes with the gun now we're also going to set this package up and the reason that we've got this set up is I was approached by the inventor of this gun the designer this gun approached me not Chiappa arms the designer of this gun approached me and asked me about a pathfinder edition and he said you know I'm really fond of the fact that you set these adapters for single-shot 12-gauge what can we do to set up a pathfinder Edition package of this firearm that I've designed what we're going to do is we're going to set this thing up so that it comes with all of the things here plus a 22 long rifle eight inch adapter three to nine shotgun primer adapters to make it a triple barrel muzzle loader a Pathfinder kit that will enable you to be able to shoot for 10 20 gauge or 22 out of it in a three inch adapter as well as a pathfinder tomahawk that's set up to match the gun and a pathfinder Scout knife that's set up to match the gun it will have a black blued blade blued not coated a blued flat grind full flat grind blade on a scout and I put black McCarter handles in a brown sheath to match this gun and a pathfinder tomahawk that I mentioned just a minute ago all of those things will be included in this package for the Pathfinder edition okay folks I just wanted to give you a quick sneak peek of the Chiappa arms triple-threat Pathfinder Edition 12-gauge talk a little bit about what the package is going to include we're not going to release this but pre-order until shot show next week we'll be leaving for shot show iris and myself my brother and his wife will be leaving for shacho on Sunday we'll be back the following week after shot but we will be at cloak at the cloak booth who is the designer of this gun will be at his booth releasing a new camouflage pattern that is also a pathfinder fall hunting camouflage pattern with the Chiappa arms logoed shotgun pathfinder edition shotgun package as well as hanging out at some other booths talk some other folks as well but come buy cloak and see us we'd love to see you just talk to you for a little while meet you shake your hand things like that we'll be there all week long Ireson myself my brother and his wife introducing a shotgun package as well as our new camo pattern if you'd like to see this thing up close touch it feel it handle it and things like that you're more than welcome to do that I'm Dave Canterbury the Pathfinder school I thank you very much for they can do for me from my school for my family I thank you for everything that you do for everyone associated with the Pathfinder school and self-reliance Outfitters I'll be back to the video as soon as I can thanks guys you
