all right so we've got our rivet started here and we're just putting the shears over the hardy hole here over the pretzel hole excuse me pound this part of the way in just like that we're going to heat it up paint it up all right so the only want to bend these bullies so that they're actually touching each other that just means we need to straighten them out spread them out we'll bend one just a little bit that way and wince a little bit this way and that would give us a reward

okay so I'm pretty happy with the operation of these scissors they're coming together here and crossing over really well and tight but I've got a little gap right here at the tips so I'm gonna heat that up and squeeze those together real quick and a vise and then I'm gonna reheat treat them and do the final sharpening and clean up okay so the operation of the scissors is right everything's good there now I'm just going to do the final grind on the blade on both sides on this belt on a ceramic belt I'll just do that very carefully just like this on both sides get that blade edge where I want it and look at how I'm going to do that before I do it now I'm gonna have to freehand just growing here because [Music]

I can't put it back on the jig so that double bevel we were talking about gonna be this final grind I'll just put a small

[Music]

double-double on the edge here on micro bevel [Music]

okay it looks pretty good they operate well I closed all the way there's no gap in here all right so I got a piece of cardboard here get these things of test around here

pretty good alright folks will appreciate join me today for this quick video on how to make a pair of medieval style scissors like I said citizen have been used since the gyptian times they were readily available or made during the viking era as well all the way into the 1760s 1860s when Fiskars started his factory over in what is now Finland which used to be Sweden at that time manufacturing scissors so being able to replicate a tool like that around the homestead can be handy with your blacksmithing skills I'm Dave Canberra it's offline stop there's no path under school I appreciate your views I appreciate your support I thank you for anything you do for our school for our family and for business for all of our sponsors instructors affiliates and Friends I'll be back another video since I can thanks guys
