I know this is mentioned in a survival school today I'm going to go over the ten items I used to film the show loan for the History Channel stay tuned okay says my loan kit we were basically given like 40 item one drawers list grouped you know and each were organized by what they were and then you had to choose 10 from this huge list you know all the hunting and fishing and stuff like that was in one list etc right so this is what I came up with as my 10 items you know it really wasn't a situation where I could just bring 10 of whatever I wanted that just wasn't the case you know I mean there was a band list to this things that were restricted that was right even allowed to you know to even wish were on the 40 you know to the 40 yeah lists you know like metal wire snares firearms foothold steel traps Connor bears things like that there was lighters I mean though those a bunch of stuff matches I think we're on that one - that was a bank line was on that list there's a bunch of stuff on it very specific anyways my 10 items well I was shocked to find out that the waterproof sleeve the gore-tex sleeve that I use on my sleeping bag it's just the sleeve that this would be mag sits in part of the sleeping bag right this up up together all that stuff that waterproof sleeve the gore-tex leaf is an item within itself so that was a pretty big deal because I was kind of hoping that my waterproof sleeve my gore-tex sleeve that my sleeping bag is part of the outer shell of it you know would be a separate item but it was so unfortunately that's that so first item a waterproof sleep a gore-tex divi for my sleeping bag now the sitting bag I went with is my mothership this thing at right now at this time is the warmest sleeping bag I have it's the sleeping bag that I chose to go sleep in living in the woods terminal seal it this is it there are better bags out there but this is the bag that I have I haven't buckled better bags yet so you make do with what you have and this thing has never done me wrong it's a mammoth really big really bulky probably like 12 pounds I've shown this in past videos you know this is my mothership I love sleeping bag it's kept me warm sub-zero temps not a joke it's a canvas outer and a canvas inner as well it has a polyester like baffles inside the lining and it's a down back it's filled with down feathers in it all over the place so there it is my down sleeping bag it's an old military extreme cold bag I've had it for several years right so that's my first time gone already and all I've done is made my bed okay so knife is next my knife that I went with is a custom knife that I designed with Sandy over at jackal a nice sandy Jack and it is Wallen handle mosaic pins black liners oh one high carbon tool steel 90-degree spine

brass lanyard it's a nice blade for sure so yeah it's a blade that I designed Sandy Jack made for me that's a gift that's a gift I mean this guy is like top of the food chain and he decided to make me gift this particular knife is three mils thick yep my Jaguar

that's my knife so it's bivy sleeping bag knife freedom already fell right I brought a light my fire our new model filler rod it's my favorite Thor on the market this actually isn't the exact one I brought because I did the one that I brought with me and used on the show - my buddy goblin so this is just the one that I keep on my keys same model looks like that ago right so what else my axe well this axe it's made but made by grandpa's Brooks it's got a 24h handle it's got a heavy bit on real everyday for this size I mean it's it's like 2 times thicker the poles 2 times thicker than the Scandinavian four stacks this is called the wilderness axe wilderness axe and it was actually designed by Ray Mears and tip my hat to him did a good job extremely good axe that's great wait for its length I mean this thing sings through the air like a dream it just throws chips like you drink

throws chips just like you wish any axe would so as my axe right on so it's knife fell rod cooking pot well we're allowed to bring a 2 quart cooking pot because yes they most certainly not just allowed us to bring things but there was always stipulations on what was allowed oh he could bring a pot so I thought ok I'll bring a pot and I just happen to have the pot that I brought I'm sorry that I bought to bring I was like yeah man I'll bring a pot nice lobster pot you know you know you know I'm saying right no go they're like no no no all of a sudden they started getting more specific no no two quart pot only that's fine - Claud spine nothing wrong the good 2 quart pot I went out and bought this one specifically for the show I didn't have a pot that was exactly 2 quarts this is a great pot is made in France oops

yeah it's a great pot was made in France I've really never seen it before I just saw it all by itself in like a secondhand store and I just picked it up and went wow I wonder that's too poor it's how it's perfect I had been looking for weeks to try to find a good pot to bring for the show so why do I like this pot I knew what I was looking for I was looking for a 2-quart pot stainless steel has an iron handle which is great really strong has an iron hand on the lid has a stainless steel metal lid really important but this right here I'm telling you is a great design this pot has a lip on the top so you can use it like a Dutch oven it will hold embers that's cool so that's the pot that I went with no name pot I have no idea I found something on there will stamp us it made in France okay so it's knife fell rock cooking pot sleeping bag Bibby axe net alright so I brought a gill net with me and I don't have it with me to show you because I ended up leaving in Canada so still still in Canada hey is where it is that didn't make it home so huh my net to show you but they were specific on that as well I think it was your loud don't quote me on this this isn't official but I think it was six meters was the length of the net Mako is six meters so that's it you know six meters and it's going be I think it was four feet four feet tall so can only go four feet deep or if I remember right and that's what it was actually bought a net that was for the show right I had nine to meet these specifications I bought a net that was a little bit taller I think it was six feet by 18 Bamber right and me my brother-in-law actually cut off the bottom two feet and resold the bottom of the net to make sure that it was solid and you know I wasn't going to like fray up and get destroyed or anything like that so I can modify that net to make sure that it met their specifications which is pretty intense I mean I was just scrambling to make my gear match what they wanted you know two core potting only two quart pot so that leads me my fishing kit right so fishing kit now these hooks are actually the hooks that were in my pocket while I was living in the woods of Vancouver shooting show right here we're allowed I think it was 25 something like that and I got stainless steel hooks because I wanted hooks that I could just leave in the saltwater just set up and just leave not even worry about it I'm too worried about trying to clean them after I don't want to worry about anything like that just salt water on them you know iron hooks just get nickel hooks all that stuff if they start breaking down so I got pure stainless steel hooks not cheap but totally worth it now I kept those hooks in this little steel container used to be an Altoids tin this is a container from Vancouver I kind of showed me all the stuff is what I had

yeah and it still has a little bit of char inside from the cedar bark Weston cedar bark yeah this is what I used to hold the hooks and they okay - he said yeah that's fine you can use that as a glove container to hold your hooks instead of having the hooks like in a plastic bag or anything like that they were very strict on that type of stuff so you know it passed inspection I was allowed to bring it so I did I think Brandt actually had one of these as well because I was trying to find something when I found out I couldn't have like the plastic baggie with all my books I was trying to find something to use and he told me this is you know the week before we went to the woods where they're like for a week of production in Vancouver showing us the cameras you know this is your camera box this is how you use your camera this is how you plug it and make it work besides how you recharge your stuff and we're not going to see you for huge gaps of time you know etc right you know they gave us like filming lesson stuff like that so we would know how to build a scene etc so anyways yeah you know the gear inspection was there as well and I remember wondering what I was going to do with my books and I guess he had to do the same thing because he must have because he was like a bitch I have actually I'll toys him because he was just chomping down I think it's like something he likes Nikki likes him anyways he he decided I think using a ten as well I was like dude that's a great idea he's like yeah they cleared me for it so it should be for you as well so I'm but I got to use a gun to make a char container out of it and I got to put my hooks in there and not worry about them tearing on my gear putting holes in my Diffie or putting holes you know in a city bag or in my waterproof pants my pocket or anything I mean you know you have to put your hooks in something right you know I mean not going to carry them my pot so that was cool so thank you for that brother very cool stuff yeah so last part of my fishing kit was my fishing line we're allowed 300 meters and this was 400 yards so basically Bullinger meters so what we did was um I left it sealed like only bring 300 but I can only find 400 so I left it sealed I didn't mess with it and I let the gear inspector open it up so he knows hasn't been tampered with I haven't fooled around with it or anything and then he counted out 100 meters and then just cut it off it was like there you go and you know it is what it is so that's cool whatever this is if this is done real I had with this is my fishing line you know all this stuff is what I have with me living in the woods and cou this is my fishing kit what's next and then left sharpening stone I don't think I've talked about that yet chopping stone why did I bring a sharpening stone

why wouldn't I bring sharpening stone what's the most important thing that I have other than myself with me my knife my knife

is there anything here other than my sharpening stone that keeps this thing working perfectly no my sharpening stone is what takes care of the most important piece of kit that I own have with me my knife and my knife takes care of me if I can keep my knife completely perfectly sharp and I keep my knife very shot I'm a very relaxed happy man my bevel is beautiful I am one less thing to worry about I know I can make nice feta sticks I know I can fillet a fish really nice I know whatever I have to do with this blade the most important thing I own it's going to be firing on all cylinders because I've kept it beautifully sharp and maintained with my sharpening stone which is a phone live in DC for now I'll be using the stuff for years it's no surprise to longtime viewers the other piece to my sharpening kit again this passed inspection right I mean they went over everything and then they took it all from us I think is that it was like okay right so this is all passed inspection just like it is okay now then they took it all and they left with it put our name on that's Mitch's Rock see you later so it's not like we can you know do shenanigans to it after or something I don't know so that way the inspection held and then they had our gear until drop-off day so Nagar is gone why Nagar stone well two reasons first reason is that I can create a slurry with it on my stone and I can D rust my knife so by using that slurry as my knife rusts from constantly being around salt water I mean it like everyday rusty I was able to de rusted so I kept my knife clean beautiful right it was just doing its job and it loved it

I kept it clean D rusted and sharp and the new giris stone second ability is that that slurry has such a fine abrasion a huge number it's like eight thousand something like that I'm not even sure but it's really high up really high and I used that to increase the sharpening ability of my stone so after I get my bevel really really good with nice with my fine side of my stone I then create a paste or slurry on the fine part of the stone and I sharpen the blade again and that makes it even sharper I mean it really it puts a mirror edge on you know this is we're talking samurai sword stuff really nice so that's my sharpening stone keeping the most important thing on me d rusted and sharp because if my knife goes down I go down I'm in big trouble right

okay that's my knife it's my fellow rod it's my pot it's my sleeping bag that is my ax that is my net I don't have with me that's my fishing kit that's my sharpening kit my Bibby last not least for sure it's my bowling hours boat way in arrows well this bow is a longbow clearly and it is by bear archery

it's the Montana model 55 common draw I made my own raccoon tail first silencers have a video on doing that took a rawhide and just a green hi and just turned it into sound system I vote so there's my boat really nice bow like this it's modified you know always mess around tinker around tinkering around with your kit you know we all do it this thing has a bunch of mods to it and to go with that is my shooting glove my arm guard

which is bison I didn't mean I bought it and of course my quiver so this is the quiver I used on alone it's a wicker quiver it used to be a different color but being wet all the time yeah I bleached out it used to have fur going on it had mold white mold or my boots every morning had mold you know I rush off putting them on everyone's wet all the time this is something I made as well raccoon fur cap cap on top there for better retention more you know stealthy

quietness here so yeah that's my kit I used six hours were allowed to bring they were beaming Center shots all these other arrows went with me stun yeah I had so I had six and five of these has brought heads I think they're a Magna stingers member right and one of them had a practice point on the end so five broads and one practice figured I could use the practice for practicing obviously and also for small game you know squirrels in the leg so yeah it's my kid you know I got to be careful about talking about this stuff because you know this is all getting into the confidential area of the show and all that you know we all signed obviously very heavy documents and a producer okay then I make this video so that's why you're watching but you know we've got to be careful with this stuff I can't just go crazy so I seem a little reserved and you know why right um yeah you know there was a big list we all the choose from and then it was a big restricted list I don't know if you noticed but there's a canteen missing from my list I don't have a canteen no canteen imagine that can you live in the woods

no canteen yep I hadn't made that decision when they told me that that vivvy sleeve to my sleeping bag was a whole separate item I had a big decision maker

ooh I wanted my canteen and just my sleeping bag completely just raw canvas in a rainforest but I want to drop my canteen and have a waterproof sleeve on my sleeping bag yeah I went for that one give me the wiper sleeve so I know my sleeping bag is safe my mothership if everything else just falls apart on me no matter what happens if I'm completely soaked whatever I mean you know completely but if I go underwater whatever I can take my clothes off even without a fire done take my clothes off wring them out put them somewhere hopefully hanging on something crawl inside my bag and just pray that hypothermia doesn't take me over and that bag we'll get that done and so long as the down in canvas which just wicks up water is dry so yeah you know I had a pot anyways I really need a canteen I just wanted your canteen and again I get it careful what I say because we're only not even halfway through the season yet on the show but yeah I found bottles and stuff up there I found all sorts of stuff out there so and is what it is it worked out worked out

so there it is as my 10 items that I used to film alone for the History Channel on Vancouver Island the Raincoast it was I mean it was so rainy that my gear was moldy I mean I don't think it really can describe any other way than that it was cold it was very wet I was very alone oh boy I mean they weren't kidding work it yeah we're going to drop you off it's probably be a week - before you we come back before you hear the boat over I resist for me it was a boat you know that was the plan that they told us you know they told us it would be a week or two before we head out there again

so getting off the boat being dropped off now I knew there's gonna be a long time for us on if I can make it that long right

and yeah it was a very unique feeling for sure

watching them create distance and them and me and watching them drive away in a boat and then watching the waves slowly cease from the boat eventually all tracks of them disappeared

the tide was coming in but uh
