Oh

Oh

its mission in a survival just out here enjoying the next night of maple topping I figured we go check the natural chapter me stay tuned alright so here's our natural tap let's see how we're doing inside oh nice Billy cans probably mmm maybe one third full it's not too shabby now see how efficient it is all right so it could be better you can see this align right here this is all wet this is all dry so although it is collecting into my Billy can it's also wasting so it's working but it could work better so let's modify a little bit and see if we can get that result all rights you might be able to tell the top of the stick here is dry that's all wet back here and down here for where it's been dripping see if we can modify this so more SAP runs down here in the tree alright so it's the first thing I did let's hook all the bark and inner bark off you can see another thing I did was change what the angle looked like you see how I carved a ridge run along it very simple i just took my knife on each side of it and cut towards the middle and we're going to do now is just test it because the sap isn't running right now alright so the plan is so i'm going to dip this in pick up some water put it in and see if the water just naturally drips down

perfect that's awesome let's try it again all I'm doing just putting the end in see are the end stripping just put any end in as if it's touching liquid from the tree and see what it does that's good sign it seems to want to run right there now so I did was I took the inner bark completely off and I made a ridge on this piece as well as a small little shard the small thorn going down I just I made the exact same bridge on that side and I got rid of all the resistance which was the inner bark and quite a few drops dropped off of it right there and I just make sure it's good and tight before I leave it for the night okay so what I'm trying to do with this particular tap basically is not carve a channel down the middle of a stick I'm trying to not do that for this time you know because there's more than one way to do it and this way it seems a lot easier all I have to do is just carve you know a little Ridge on the underneath just to give the water something that to adhere to to run down so it's an experiment and I think we improved a product greatly it's already proven that it can produce some SAP because my Billy cam is about a third full and that's really great because today was really the first day that the SAP was really running running very fast today so I'm pretty happy with that I made some modifications I think it's running much better and I really look forward to checking it out next time miss benvenuti survival preciate views comments new sport see in the next one take care
