I doing this is mitchell donated survival school tonight we're going to modify an antler time to be a really nice pressure flaking tool for flint knapping stay tuned okay so in my in survival pouch some flint knapping tools suit we got nice and stone it's very coarse like that has good bite has other uses too a couple anal teens we're going to sharpen make more narrow at the tip so the better at doing notches because antlia tines are usually too wide to notch our heads well because the notches are at least that wide so we're going to sharpen one of these so you can get some really fine notching so just get my little NS pressure flaking pad here I'm just going to put a little piece of shell on air as if i'm going to pressure flake it pick one of these times to get an idea of how I like to hold this particular time they got found how I like it right angle okay so i'm still holding it in that angle now i'm going to rub the two outside angles of it i'm just going to make it an hour so it's looking like this i'm just going to take in each side and i'm going to use abrasion operation is the method that you can shape bone and antler with anything wood and rocks lot lots of things so it's very simple you just got a coarse stone my hammer stone is very coarse and you just rub the item so i'm trying to think here how i like to hold us like to hold it just like that so I want to make it narrow in the way that is comfortable for me to hold so I'm going to go on its side like this

that's working really well not sure if you can see that see the angle so I'm going to do the opposite side so instead of that side I'll see you want to rush the stuff you want to get it just right that's how I like to hold it listen I usually Flint nap like that now i'm going to go to the opposite opposite sides i be just like this this is how you make antler our heads as well this is like a chisel now super sharp dynamic needles as well see a nice chisel point on top or triangulation on the front

let's do some more alright so now I have a nice thin tip I just work both sides like a scandi edge it's nice and thin so now I'll take my pressure flaking pad scroll it up have a little piece right here like a nap real quick so pressure flaking right so i can still flake large if i put the bevel flat if I turn around side now it's going to be super thin allow me to take very small flakes yeah look at that flick right there

see your tiny that is that's really that's really small nice and narrow

it's a tiny tiny flake right there now if I turn it the other way that was the side unmodified so let's see what size that would be all right there it is is the proof so you can see over here very large not chicken out oh yeah but now you look at the other one and it's half it's half half a small I can still go and I'll just turn it sideways so I can still do large flicks if I want like this but then when I turn it the other way now it's a little scandi edge it's really thin and really maneuverable allows me to get inside deeper and make smaller notches further in without breaking my not just off because now my shoulders are much smaller I mean there's the proof right there large small very small notch next to it right there so it's a handy way just by using abrasion by a braiding year antler to get a really fine tipped and I learned to do two sides instead of doing all four sides and making it look a little point I linked to the two sides just allows me to just turn it sideways and it still has the full width so it's still really strong even though it's thin because now the width is still an ounce going up and down as i go this way so it's really thin like this but when i turn it this way it still has the full strength of the width of the edge even though the edges you know hair popping really small so it's strong too resilient it's antler and it is going to pressure flake phenomenal now just a quick little modification to an alanine to make it really good for pressure flaking alright so thanks for joining me tonight this quick mod to make a really nice antler pressure flaker appreciate views Thomas needs support I'll see you in the next one take care you
