its mission and survival today we're talking about cordage stay tuned alright so just heads up I'm behind a cemetery so I can be Hansel cars and stuff like that

all right said it's broke a piece of quartz right it's fine ground here lots of sharp edges now all right so I just found a big patch of yucca behind the cemetery so I just made some quick sharp tools take one of these and

okay so today we're working on a two ply reverse wrap so this is my alkyl leaf so I'm gonna just start splitting it put that piece of side now the smaller pieces clean this up a little bit scrape off some of the excess cellulose okay so here's one fiber and this is let's see this was a half this was a quarter this was an eighth this was 16 so 1/32 of the full leaf okay this is 1/32

now let's go to the next step alright it's now what you want to do is stop rolling it holding the side static besides rolling and that changes the cross-section from flat you can see over on this side it's still flat to a circle which is how you want it you want to work into a circle keep working it across keep tightening it until it's a circle the whole way what I like to do is just rub my hands over it to kind of train it into that shape now a small of fiber is the easier it is to turn into a circle a wider it is say like I have a really wide piece like this the harder it is right because when I start moving it you can see how its really wants to stay flat you have to really work that hard to turn it into circle so it's a little easier on smaller pieces alright so that's the first job so now I have a circle cross-section

okay so now what I want to do is I want to go slightly off from halfway so this is about half way I'm gonna go slightly off from that okay this is half way I'll go off to the side a little bit the reason why I'm doing that is because my cord it's gonna fold in half and my lengths will be two different lengths this one stops up here this one's a little longer because I'm not to put splices there I don't the spices to be in the same place okay so now what I do is you keep twisting in opposite directions just like you were and when you do that cordage once it's a king cup I'll try to get it this happens in the middle you guys can see what's going on hey you see that so kinks up so now I'm gonna grab that kink I'm gonna start on the piece closest to me I'm gonna twist towards me okay and I'm gonna grab my other piece and I'm gonna shift it underneath so it takes the place of this one but I'm twisting right now that's that much in front of me and this is gonna flip over it and end up with us for this so they're gonna change sides so this is gonna swap locations it's all they're doing and this one goes over okay now the smaller end is over here now I'm going to twist this towards me and go over towards me I'm just grabbing with these fingers and over all right I don't move my other finger that's pinching the kink a little further down so now the quarters a little longer okay so you just go towards you and over towards you and over I am going real slow so you guys can see what's going on so I got two pieces side that's closest to me it's under it's on the underneath of the two I'm gonna twist it towards me and go over this switching locations okay it's important that you don't move this hand this hand isn't really twisting the other way you know this is the only hand the one that's in front that's really doing anything so you twist over twist OH

twist over okay so now I'm gonna hold the front show you how long I have this now so this the kink right here so I've already made about an inch cordage

and I forgot to mention when you starting a to play you can go either direction but the way that I like to do I said that I twist towards myself I'm actually going counterclockwise and then I swap them counterclockwise and swap them kind of clockwise swap them and so on so you just pick you just pick a direction to start spinning in the first place to make it cold äj-- okay so here's where I'm at get some cordage here and then right when I get to this point I'm just separate here's my two pieces I'm working on it's my quarters underneath okay it's a smaller end now this one is just about done so I'm gonna stop my splice now all right so all I'm gonna do is take the top side the finished side of another strand that's 1/16 as well 1/32 whatever it was same size I'm gonna put it right in the middle okay so there's my two pieces I'm gonna put it right in the middle in between the two okay I'm gonna pinch it there just like that now what I'm going to do is it's just on the inside right now between the other two it's on the inside I'm gonna take that and wrap it around the piece that I'm splicing it on - let's wrap around a few times okay that helps it get attached to it a little easier so now I just continue as usual twist twist everything everything's exactly the same so you're gonna go a couple times and then you're gonna check to make sure it actually it's threaded in okay so again I'm just twisting towards me and going over twisting towards me going over there just switching positions

keep looking my fingers because the the see that the juice of yucca is very sticky

okay so I've gone a few times now so I'm gonna just hold my end see where I'm at okay here we go so here's the end right here is the beginning of my quarters right here alright here's my spices so a splice is already in this many times that's all there's two now this end the other one is starting to get small it's much smaller compared to compared to this one my spice is way longer now the new one I put in it's way longer than this so this one's almost done and when that one finishes I'll just put another splice in okay so I'm gonna go a little bit longer and I let's put the other splice in okay it's my two pieces this one's getting pretty short and they had a splice in wrap around a few times twisted end continue as usual okay so I've been doing this for a couple minutes now I've got maybe 10 inches or so just under a foot I'm gonna just put a over hand at the end finish it off make sure I get both strands ax okay

it's nice then quick cordage now I'm gonna take care of these extra threads I have hanging out for my splices okay so is this place right here there's another one see except this place stickman right out just pin the cordage down put a little working surface here have a little quartz piece edge right here okay

god

all right that's clean cord now okay this what we got is the place we started with the kink all right so maybe just under a foot something like that I can usually bang out like you know a foot a minute easily on Yunker anyway suckas very quick and easy to make cordage on so good stuff alright so it really doesn't take a lot of this stuff to make a lot of court I still have that half piece left that quarter split in the eighth so all I did was use 16th and thirty-second pieces to make this so it really doesn't take a lot you know I mean two leaves can get you a several feet several feet well to mention a survival appreciate your views comments need support see the next one thank you
