hey its mission it survival so I open eat some Eastern redcedar stay tuned alright so in front of me I have Juniperus virginiana also known as Eastern redcedar

so it's actually a Juniper that's not a cedar tree although it's common name is eastern red cedar so it has small fleshy cones that are commonly referred to as berries or cedar berries so the edible and medicinal whether they're used raw dried cooked or steamed really easy to collect they can be mashed and cooked into patties or they can be dried and used as a spice to flavor meat you can see it only takes a moment to grab a handful as well alright so they are very delicious you just chop them right up they're very aromatic very spicy they basically taste like just what you'd expect they kind of embody the smell and flavor now another cool thing about this tree but I haven't tried out yet is that the heartwood can make at are very interesting another cool fact about this is that I see deer from across the street eat these berries from my trees all the time so they eat these too so it's also an option if you want to use for bait gather a whole bunch of gonna put a big pile on one spot especially near a game trail you know where you know the deer walking by they're apt to go and wander over there they'll smell something familiar that's a lot closer to home and you're good to go

this miniature native survival appreciative use calm sea sport so you guys the next one take
