its mission is survival so I'm going to make some maple syrup on a campfire in the woods stay tuned okay says some of the maple sap we collected from Olympic truce now it's a long process my experience it takes about an hour per gallon I've got eight gallons to do let's get started I just partially put the lid on just to stop ashes and things from falling in it's already steaming excellent alright so I've been at this for a while and I changed my tactics a little bit instead of keeping the cover on top of it I took it off and I just put the pot on top of the fire so I'll have to worry about sticks or ashes or anything falling into it because it's actually above the fire which is fantastic because then all the heat is right where it needs to be so this is working out pretty good as you can see we already have a really nice boil going and it's starting to reduce and it's also started docking up already which is great

so this is the process you just keep adding SAP reducing it down put it right back where it was right over my coals I'll just in case you're wondering I've got two sticks on the bottom they're suspending it over my kohls then I just build my firewood right over it right around it it's a long job you know you're really going to be out here for an hour per gallon now you just have to kind of resign yourself to that fact so just how it is and it's clearly worth it you know get maple syrup to make sugar from a natural material in the woods doesn't get better than that stocking up really nice now time to add more SAP see what tastes like oh yeah mmm that's getting sweet it's getting real sweet no idea how good that swims let's chase it again mmm mmm excellent all right i'm gonna call it for the night it's uh come way down i probably have maybe six hours into it now five hours into it something like that and the result is coming out very very well let's uh I'll take your shoes off in one minute a massage you man you suck sure so this is some of the maple sap that we're cooking down all right and we have one gallon left I'm gallon left almost done so I'm gonna pour this in time alright so the sap is boiling pretty good really dark turning into maple syrup look too bad no it's gonna be really good alright syrup it's coming out really good and add some more i think sap playing with a spider over there is it a pretty one oh good and maple syrup it's coming out pretty good too want to taste it see how it tastes No ok I'll taste it we still half a gallon to cook down mmm that's coming along nicely the syrup just fell off the fire and we lost about half of what we had in our pot so that is a super bummer yeah but we'll carry on

so reducing the SAP that we have left anyways so we lost at least an inch and a half probably I should not prob about an inch of sap from the pot yeah about an inch spilled out of it so daddy yeah we're just by a mistake yeah was just an accident yeah yeah just a bummer after clucking all that SAP all right oh well oh well half of a gallon of SAP left and this is it this is the end of the SAP out of eight gallons yeah yep so we're gonna keep cooking it down all right try some more people sir yeah yeah good huh well I have some too warm warm oh yeah mmm yummy not some more talk tomorrow oops because I could good whoo man not some more wha ok last one big

hey you all right come on maple syrup junkie like a daddy alright so the syrup is coming out really good we're enjoying it we still have a little bit of a gallon left so it's only gonna get stronger which is awesome
