a submit to native survival and today we're going to be discussing a technique to conserve ignition resources when lighting fire stay tuned I just want to show you this great piece of quartz I just found while looking around for a few resources like dry grass show you a close-up

see some very pure segments of courts inside this rock okay this is my magnifying glass kit it's a hard shell case protecting the lens inside it's a five times line so it's definitely powerful and inside the battery compartment which I obviously don't use for batteries because they're not sustainable in the woods I keep my cat tail in here so it's a nice little pouch to hold tinder so it's ready to go a nice little ignition kit as long as I have some Sun like to make a flat surface with my tinder you can see it's already smoking and charring

now this is actually so powerful that it will just burn a hole right through it I don't really am won't really ignite the tinder so I try not to make the circle too small because if I do it just seems to blow right through the tender so I try to make it a little larger than perfect and it just heats it up they have it fired by the Sun and what that allows me to do is save my fellow rod allows me to save my Ferro rod and use the Sun it's my ignition and use cattail all rights just I to move a little bit on me so I'm gonna go ahead and put this out pour some water on it make sure it's getting saved and I'll get back to you guys in just a second okay so as you can see it's magnifying glass five power is plenty powerful enough to be a ignition source as long as you have a clear sunny day and I think it's very important to start learning start learning and cataloging practicing ways to save strikes off your Ferro rod because you know the federal rod can be used on a cloudy day you're using a rainy day and that's not the case with this so you know as long as this lens doesn't break I didn't lose anything because if I if I use my phone I would have to use cattail or something like a feather stick or some of the tender anyway so tenders going to burn I have to burn tender somehow so I can't take that out of the equation but I took my fell right out of the equation I didn't lose anything for it and it lose anything by using my magnifying glass and that's key just a way to conserve resources No alright so I appreciate your views constant support and I'll see you guys the next one this event metra native survival take care
