from biggest mistake you can make paddling a canoe solo is to sit back in the regular seats especially the stern seat so probably can't really tell but I'm at I'm actually sitting in the bow seat I'm facing backwards so the back of the canoe is actually in front of me I'm paddling that way the advantage of that is that you get your center of gravity more towards the center of the canoe which keeps that bow down in this case the stern let's call it the battle keeps that bow down so the winds not catching it it's a almost impossible to paddle a canoe sitting in the rear seat and even sitting on this bow seat I've got a bag of decoys and spare paddle and actually a small anchor in the front of the canoe the other major reason that you sit in the bow seat facing backwards so low or you actually kneel at the center of the canoe ideally is so that the center of gravity of laterally is more balanced if you know if you've seen that picture of me

with that chest big red chestnut canoe it's a seventeen and a half a canoe and I was paddling it's so low from the Sun of the canoe like I'm supposed to do with a nice heel nice lean and my wife was going to get into the canoe with me so I paddled up closer to shore and then I actually got into the stern seat and that the stern seat is so close to the end of the canoe to the to the stern that very very narrow so any shift of your weight causes the commuter to lean or tip that case it actually tipped so you really don't do not want to be sitting in the back seat if you're the only one or in the stern seat if you're the only one in that canoe always sit either in the bow seat facing backwards when so when you're hunting out of a canoe that that center of gravity is so important you're swinging on a duck you can't going on the duck feet straight ahead of you that's a very awkward position to shoot in anyway typically you're gonna be swinging imagine you're actually not too bad here you lean into it broccoli windows ducks Flair you get up like that and that recoil pushes you back it can easily push you over if you're sitting in that Stern seat or even sitting here with no weight in the front canoe is going to flip on you so always get into that sturm seat even better sit in the center of the canoe if you don't have any weight in the front in particular you're going to have much more control over the canoe and you're not going to have to worry about flipping it when you take a shot out of duck or goose couple mallards flying here but we went off the river up ahead of me and got up pretty high pretty quickly so it's challenging on the river this why cuz you don't time a round a bend ducks are on the outside bends typically so they can keep an eye out and time last and run they're coming off the water and they're typically out of range still got a berm all the way along on the right here so you're also a little cautious about that because they know people will walk that with a gun and shoot off the burner expect a little bit more luck care to get it closer to the you're wide open day and sneak in through some reads and behind some little islands and stuff up big it close enough to get a shot or I've got a bag of decoys here ideally what I'd like to do is set up on little island and throw the decoys they back the canoe into the reeds at a site or get up on land myself cheap from land initially excited by my prospects today with the forecast supposed to be hind strong winds of like 40 kilometers an hour and showers and flurries 60 or 70 percent chance not liking the how clear it is really sunny on light I'm lit up like a Christmas tree here water fell can see extremely well on these conditions and they tend not to fly as much so how do I get got that nasty weather they would have coming off the big lake and saw it shelter in these
