Breakfast on Remona Lake, Algonquin Park

Description

Remona Lake, Algonquin Park morning

http://myselfreliance.com/tim-river-spring-canoe-trip-day-3-remona-lake/

I wake up a little bit later this morning and don’t rise until 6:00am. The roar of the pounding falls drowns out the more peaceful sounds of dawn in the boreal forest, and I decide I don’t really like waterfall campsites.I discover a packing error this morning; I forgot my day-three 12-grain cereal so I have to make do with bannock infused with trail mix and smothered in peanut butter.

Based on other trip reports and books on the area that I’ve read in preparation for this trip, this is the day I was most anticipating for good fishing. I’m not disappointed, although I’m more focused on the sounds of nature and the spectacular scenery – two major sections of whitewater, Allen Rapids and High Falls, are both beautiful and wild. Graham’s Dam is also nice and there are remnants of the old POW camp strewn about on the portage. The clearing is covered in wolf scat and I suspect that this is a rendezvous meadow.
