Notching & Splitting Logs, Cabin 2 and I Get Philosophical

Description

Back to the cabin on my friend's property. I notch some logs, split the base logs and talk about my philosophy of living simply.

VERSE you came in for more but it’s more than you can might and in that’s rotten you’re ready to ignite stuck in a wicked fever as you’re wating for a home and your cadance fails to bed a steady calm

CHORUS

hold on to your fire you feel a need to burn for days bygone and I know that so would anyone so don’t let that fire go now VERSE listen to your reason which you seem to have ignored for you lack a way to trade your sore eyes for the blame but you won’t learn just to make it through the night so the bad, bad dreams they take you spiraling down through the dark so just... CHORUS hold on to your fire you feel a need to burn for days bygone but I know that so would anyone so don’t let that fire go now STICK at the most you strain it not to choke as the bitter pill is sold with hollow wine missing piece unfolding at the crease but don’t you dare to go and light the fuse if you burn it down there’s nothing left to loose so don’t you dare to let that fire go now

hey everybody showing James here to April 3rd today and I'm back at the cabin it's been about a week week and a half since I was here and spending some time up at the property walking the site and getting a shelter built and I'm finally getting a chance to get back here and get working on this cabin snow isn't just about melted out of the area the rainbow trout which are steelhead are running from the Great Lakes up into this river here up into the stream so I'm happy to be back in the cabin here and get to work try to get a few courses up split this bottom log at the two silt still logs in place and show some notching patterns and cut some saddle notches and start bringing the courses up still having the same issue we're trying to get the logs down to the state here so I'm going to head into town and pick up some wheels so I can make some kind of fashion some kind of small Kirk for pulling the logs down here to the site that'll also come in handy up at the property so I had a thought on the way here probably cuz I was listening to country music but I was thinking about how much I've got on the go right now a little bit too much this year and with the bushcraft camp announcement that I made last week as well but really I believe that life should be led to the fall aside I think it's unfortunate people set their lives up that they are so indebted to their to society and so indebted to their mortgage or the rent and their bills that they don't get to get out there and enjoy themselves if you set yourself up with a life where you're living in a city or in a town when you're rather be out doing this and you know it's only it's up to you to make that change I guess it's 20 21 years ago now actually that I just left the city and said I'm moving north we'll find work up there and and just get closer to where I where I want to be and it's paid off for me but I can't imagine being stuck down to the city still and working 9:00 to 5:00 coming home and and just not being inspired to do anything sitting in front of the couch and just wasting life away to me I want to fill my life with with activity I want to fill it with adventure and excitement I want to be excited to get up in the morning and do something new so if you're not doing that with your life so you know you only have one life to live and it's and it's not as long as you you think or you hope so so I just want I hope I can inspire people to get out there and do more of what they actually want to do rather than what they have to do so that's that's the way I'm feeling today I'm glad I feel a little bit overwhelmed with how much I've taken on so it's a little bit stressful but just like I said I can't see having in any other way I'm really excited to - even though I'm overwhelmed I'm excited to get this project done and then move on to that next project and I know that got several years of builds and and activities planned already at the new property so I'm really excited to get that underway so thanks so thanks for tuning and thanks for following along and and hopefully you're not going to get too impatient with me as I move from one project to the other so try to make some progress here get this thing up make it start looking like a cabin and and if you have any questions you can certainly just ask them below and hopefully I can answer them and and maybe you have some suggestions there's lots of guys on this forum that are watching this channel that are better woodworkers are better log cabin builders than I am so happy to hear your suggestions thanks a lot guys and see in the next video [Music]
