Edibles: Sego Lily Bulbs Delicious

Description

This is an excellent tasting bulb found in the Western US among the sagebrush. Often it can be easily gathered from a large patch on a hillside. It is edible raw or cooked like a potato. NOTE: In Utah survival use only as it is the State Flower.

wilderness innovation real survival kits survival shelter simplifying survival and wilderness innovation calm oh it's perry peacock with relentless innovation today I'd like to do a little a little quick tip on some edibles and today I'd like to show you something that is prevalent throughout the Great Basin area in the western US a very good food source and that would be right here you see this this white leave plant with a kind of a yellow and kind of a deep dark red down on the base of the flower and a dislike a single stem that comes up out of the ground and that's called a sago Lily in Utah you could only use it as a survival situation because it's the state flower all right if you want to dig for this thing here's one of the things that's oftentimes found in soils that are kind of get pretty dry at this particular soil here is kind of rusty as well and you're just using this antler these antler a stick or anything you want but to have to get the soil sometimes you can just get slipped down the side of it pop up and depending on how deep our little bulb is here if we found it now our bulbs still that in their little deeper all right here's a no it's not very big here's a bulb of a sago Lily and this this one here happens would be pretty small some of them are the size of a marble or a garlic clove or something like that but very good flavored and if you can find a sometimes you'll find a hillside with a bunch of them in there and and kind of rummage around through there and find some good good ones very good flavor good eat a little husk off very nice flavor kind of a nutty flavor a little bit kind of like kind of starts you like corn can be sometimes but does have some sweetness to it just a tiny bit but pretty mild flavor no you know pretty nice so the sago Lily that's one option
