perry peacock with your spring wilderness quick tip what I'd like to do is show you something that you can do if you're not interested in carrying like a full-fledged saw with you but you just want to have something as a backup but do something that's very slim and lightweight let me show you a little trick that you can do alright so what you want to do is find yourself some kind of a branch or piece of wood you can use for a handle for your saw and this right here will be that'll be just about right right there alright so there we have us a handle blank and now I'll show you the next part of it alright so what I'm gonna do here is use my Swiss Army knife out of my survival kit baton into this thing and now I split it down the middle and now we're going to fix the saw inside of there we're going to do here is uh just going to mount this blade inside the handle here like this and let me show you the simple way that I do that there's a this is a thumbtack it's called it's a quilter's thumbtack so it's like it's pretty heavy duty so I'm just going to shove that in there and i use two of them because we don't want the blade to pivot like this so i'm going to put one there fact that center woods a little soft right then i'm going to go up a little bit on it so i'm going to put it up about right there i'm just going through the hole that's in the saw blade and now I think I want to be oriented out on something about like that so now I'm going to place the other one out near the end of that little tang right there so you get a little bit of leverage on it I'm going to shove that in there press down nice and tight all right now God blade can't can't really go anywhere and I'm going to going to go ahead and match this off here and bind it together all right now here's an optional way to to do this care you one thumb tack to see it's a heavy-duty upholstery one the one thumb tack goes in here just to keep this thing from pivoting you can use that same thumbtacked to mark your the hole where that I've got that screw right now if you want to make it a little more secure just use that thumbtack there just to keep it in from swinging on you you screw that down and then you're good to go that makes a little more secure having that metal against metal so all you'd have to do to carry with you is this little slim thing here and you can get these up to I don't know I think up to 12 or 13 inches long if you want but so that's as thin as it is and the only other thing you need is like a screw in a thumbtack but that's all you got to take and you can have your really nice so I'm just going to finish this up all right I've got this screwed down now and you see that the head of that screw is actually crimping down on to the head of the big thumb tack also and that thing right there that is not going anywhere that thing a solid I could use that just like that without even putting the other part of the handle on there but that makes a lot nicer to grip it like that right now I've used this saw blade as it is here to kind of you don't have to do this but it makes a little nicer they cut me just a little square out right here and that's just to allow this all to fit so this will fit more flush and like I say you know how to do that but I just felt like it I've never done it that way before but I'm doing that way now i'm just using this can opener blade on my Swiss Army knife kind of like a chisel just go in there like that see now so now I've made me a nice little nudge to kind of encase all that into their actually could have made it a little bit shallower than that but that's right but anyway I'll be nice we're about ready to finish this off now all right now the final step here we've got all that nice tender there blaze nice and secure so we're going to do is take these wire ties ease or it's an eight inch 8-inch fairly heavy-duty wire tie I'm just going to cinch that down on there pretty good and what that's doing is holding my handle together and it's pulling pretty tight see it's actually springing it loose on the back end right here a little bit so now when I do this one on the back end it's going to pinch all that together and this thing will be a very nice and secure here so just go down like that back alright

so there we are right there I'll just cut those off and then I'm good to go is that

no it was in my bag here all right here we go there's a nice huh and all I had to bring with me was the blade one screw one thumb tack and two wire ties weighs almost nothing like they say I could put a longer blade if i want i just wanted to show you what this you
