Christy uses the Magesium Fire Starter Kit

Description

Christy 13 years old at a family camp wanted to try the Wilderness Innovation FireStarter Kit. After about a dozen tries, she got to where she could get a flame every time, and started a fire. With a little effort and practice a fire can be well under way in about a minute.

so this perry peacock with wilderness innovation now we're up on a family campout up in the up in the hills over Labor Day holiday and I'm here with my niece Christie and how old are you Christy 13 Christie's 13 years old and she's been playing around with this fire starter kit a little bit today and she got determined she's going to figure out how to avoid they all to use it and get a fire started so she's going to show you we're just going to show you at this point how to get a flame going and once you've got a flame if you got everything else ready no it's no problem getting the rest of the fire going so let Christy go ahead and get started with the items on our kit kit comes in a corduroy bag with a couple of pockets in there to organize everything one thing that's included in the kit is the wax paper and we like to use the wax paper as a means of concentrating the magnesium shavings likes a little easier when you're doing the scraping and it makes it easier when you try to strike it off at the end also the magnesium bar is from down manufacturing the military specified equipment it's a magnesium bar on one side and it's got a ferrocerium rod on the other side which is basically a considered like a flint of Flint rod you can buy just a ferrocerium rod individually and you see some of those around two but by adding the magnesium to it we can enhance our ability to start a fire magnesium burns at 5,000 degrees so you can get a very hot flame really quick and by using this method that we're using here we can scrape a very small amount of shavings into the wax paper and we can strike that off and we can have a flame in a short period of time now she's she's got her stuff ready here and I've been fighting off a little thunderstorm wanting to start on us here today but what kind of between things here so I don't know what's going to happen but but anyway now you see she's kind of make a little cone shape out of this wax paper and it concentrates all those shavings all into one little central spot and what I like to do sometimes is I think she's got her striker bar out here so let's see what happens here there we go you gotta fire that easy and there's there's Christie say hi Christie and you see just just playing around with a little bit today she's got it down she can start off she can get a flame going virtually every time she doesn't know she even did it just a few minutes ago with what do you win blond and everything if you've got all your tinder and all your kindling ready you can actually put that thing right inside a bird's nest of kindling and when you fire it off the whole killing will just burst into flames so but anyway thanks for watching the video and and welcome Christie to try this thing out and she did a very good job I think
